  1. As an end user I am getting ready to purchase a Sony SNCDH280. http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-SNCDH280/ It has three features I am interested in. View-DR: Sony's WDR technology that takes multiple pictures at different exposures and splices them together. Looks to be very effective. http://ws.sel.sony.com/PIPWebServices/RetrievePublicAsset/StepID/SEL-asset-229302/original/View-DR%20VE.pdf Visibility Enhancer: Basically a contrast enhancer, also noted in the above PDF XDNR: Using (Bill and Ted's?) eXcellent Dynamic Noise Reduction system it is possible to get decent night images without a lot of motion blur. http://ws.sel.sony.com/PIPWebServices/RetrievePublicAsset/StepID/SEL-asset-229303/original/XDNR.pdf I did a search and did not notice any comments on it. Any red flags about this product? It also has a IR LEDs on it but I'm not sure of the range. It is also unclear how many different exposures are taken with the View DR system. Sadly the docs say 2 to 4 depending on the model. I'm sure some of the stuff above is marketing BS but it appears to be one of the top WDR dome cameras on the market at 1920x1440 resolution.
  2. I currently have a Sanyo HD4000 in an external heater/blower enclosure and a Sanyo 3300 HD. Sanyo is closing their doors as mentioned above and I currently have the 3300 in for repair... I hope someone is still there to repair it. I started looking at the Panasonic but found the Sony looking much better spec wise. In one of the other threads someone posted a comparison of WDR cameras where the Sony 140 camera looked much better than the others. The Sanyo cameras are not WDR cameras. License plates show up as a solid white rectangle at night etc. What problems come from having IR inside the dome? Is it internal reflection of the IR against the dome or is it when things are close? I recently installed a 1,700 lumen LED floodlight so I may not need the IR and I assume I can disable it.
  3. Sanyo VDC-HD3300. I have a 50 watt light in front of my house. Dusk Color at night IR short exposure IR long exposure Due to what I think is a software bug, using the IR long exposure results in a blown out daytime picture, I don't have the problem with my Sanyo VCC-HD4000 using the same settings.
  4. I would gladly look at your images via PMs.
  5. Hello, Are there any screen or video captures anywhere on the web from the AV10005 at the max resolution and the binned mode? I have emailed and called Arecont asking for Day/Night samples and have not received any calls or emails back. I am an end user and not a dealer so perhaps they do not care. How good is this camera? They mention "Ultra HD Megapixel Lenses" here: http://www.arecontvision.com/index.php?section=downloads&subsection=view_online&file_id=90 and it looks like the 8mm would be the best for me. I guess the variable zoom ones are not good enough? I have been lurking here and have enjoyed reading various discussions concerning Arecont being junk and Sanyo having restrictions etc. I'm a home user running Luxriot software and own a Sanyo VCC-HD4000 installed in a heated and fan cooled enclosure and a VDC-HD3300. My complaint about the Sanyo is the senseup feature seems to totally ignore the max gain setting, which I have set to normal, and jacks the gain way up instead of upping the exposure. I would rather have a little bit of motion blur than loads of noise in B&W mode. I can force long exposure but the daytime video is pure white, good job Sanyo! I purchased Luxriot simply because they make the VideoPilot software that Sanyo repackages. Any help to steer me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
  6. Why do they sell models with it as an option?
  7. I'm using jpeg full resolution recording with the Sanyo cameras. There is no H.264 for full resolution like there is with the Arecont. I like the image quality of the Sanyo but 10MP would be nice. Since the AV10005 has a larger sensor shouldn't the pixel size be about the same? Thanks for correcting me on the lens terminology. I'm an electrical/computer engineering type so I do get lost on the lens info but can keep up with everything else. I also wonder why there is no auto iris option on Arecont day night cameras?
