  1. I haven't used the unit for years, but as far as i remember, you have to hold it for a few seconds to switch off. Cheers! CJ
  2. I am no expert but my ISP change it from time to time, sometimes every day. I suspect that you would have to keep an eye on it for a time and see... maybe yours is more 'sticky' than mine. Cheers! CJ
  3. I haven't done this myself, but as for the dyndns, it depends on whether you have a fixed IP address with you ISP or not. If you do, no need for it. I hope you get it solved soon. Cheers! CJ
  4. There is power through the cable, i.e. the power comes from the main unit through the 15m cable. Cheers! CJ
  5. Just a little note of warning: While the cams themselves are classified for outdoor use, the mounts themselves are rusting and degrading quite quickly, so if you put your cams up outdoors, make sure to get it right as it might be rusted in place later. CJ
  6. I second that, about time too! Throw in a screen saver (activated back on MD) and sound alert on MD!
  7. Hm, does that go for the firmware too, as there seem to be an update here. Cheers! CJ
  8. Mine are night vision with IR, and it works well. As for range, I am not sure what you mean, but it states - of the top of my head - something like 10 meters. Practically, though, I have no problem seeing the same distance as I can in daylight. MD with IR is probably more limited, though. Cables are 15 meters. Cheers! CJ
  9. Whiteduck, thank you for your recommendations. So far I solved the problem (I hope, haven't received it yet) by ordering a few PIRs - and it can be set to 'gently chime', so I should be ok. [EDIT: deleted further question for now, I am mucking about too much to ask coherent questions, it seems!] Cheers! CJ
  10. Right you are... I think I have enough confirmation that the unit will not play as I would like it to, so that does indeed seem like the way forward (although it irks me that I have to pay additionally for something that should be included, however cheap). Thanks a lot for the suggestion! Cheers! CJ
  11. Could someone confirm that this unit can indeed be made to beep/buzz on MD through the Audio Out connector? (I do not wish to break seal unless 100% cert!) Cheers! CJ
  12. Thank you for your reply. I am not questioning you, but I need to ask (in my most irritating voice ): Are you sure? Where would that be set up on a unit without the external alarm functionality? I ask, as I see no mention of this part in the manual for this unit, only for the ones with external alarm. Or put another way: Have you - or anyone - actually done this? Ok, that is a point to take into account. So, the unit is not that precise in sensitivity? Bummer! All in all, I am still thinking of sending this unit back, as I am somewhat irritated that I have been shipped an inferior model.
  13. Does this unit beep?? I have received a unit without the promised alarm ins/out on the back, so I need to know if this unit can actually beep on it's own on MD, i.e. without an attached alarm. The manual seems to indicate/imply that it can, but it has proved impossible for me to obtain an answer to this simple question. So... can this unit be set to beep on motion detection? I cannot experiment with it myself as the unit is in it's original box, awaiting a possible return if this functionality is not present, so I would really appreciate if any of you that actually has the kit out and working could confirm or deny this for me! Cheers! CJ
