    Port forwarding problem

Dont buy a new switch just yet, I believe you can turn off DHCP on that Linksys turning it into a switch. Or turn off DHCP on the modem and use the Linksys router for your DHCP, I would do it like this if it were me because I am more familiar with the Linksys settings.

    POS Question

Ya but that would be doing exactly like it was meant to be done, where is the fun in that?

    POS Question

First of all I really don't know anything about Point of sale except that I believe it is supposed to tag the video with text out put from a register or something. If that is true could you have something else tag the video with text, Like an alarm system?

    POS Question

what and you trying to do. on the eh your alarm text will only display for a few seconds and you will only get jumble i.e XXX@+: the dvr has to understand the data from your alarm. What I am imagining is something like when the alarm is armed it would send the text to the dvr and I could search for the event or if the alarm is triggered it would tag the video with something that says "alarm activated" I wont be sad if it does not work, it would be super cool if it did! I think what you are saying is along with the text being jumbled it might be only on one or two frames of video? Also my alarm has several outputs that I am going to use to set up things like when someone presses the doorbell to take a snapshot and email me a pic. Wouldn't it be cool if the alarm could also tag the pic with some text too?

    POS Question

I have been playing with my alarm system (ELK M1 Gold) and it says I can output text via a rs232 port, so in theory I should be able to get it to work? Oh ya the DVR is the AverMedia EH5108H.

    3G connection

Sounds like you are not wanting them to share your internet connection? Although not cctv related if you (if your router has the ability) block the mac address of the iPod from connecting or offer them limited access.

DVR reps have access to DVR

What was acting up? I just sent that exact same model back because it kept crashing every time I used the iphone app and large blocks of recorded data would all of a sudden be un-accessible.

on your demo i can see the motion lights. are you putting VGA and the composite though the same monitor. No, I only have a VGA monitor hooked up at the moment and I only use that when I am configuring something I cant do remotely. I just remembered that when I am on the set up screens I don't get any screen distortion.

    Lines in all the Cameras

dont understand your problem ............ you say aver are going to send you a new board ??? .... i would have said no. all avers have 2 years warranty. send it back. your problem is on a camera view. the demo of the ops video the problem is on the screen Its is the exact same problem as the op, mine does the same thing across all the channels I just posted the one because it is easier to see. I would send it back but I am already out 30 bucks shipping for the first one I sent back, I requested that they just send the new board so it would be cheaper for me. Here is another video with all channels.

    Lines in all the Cameras

I don't know what it is, all I know is Avermedia says they have a fix, I will take a pic of what they send me. (They hated that I said the Q-see I had worked better ) The video I posted is backed up off the network so it is recording all those messed up artifacts. The DVR actually thinks it is motion so I had to disable all motion alerts/recording.

Nothing wrong with the monitor, I have the same thing and Avermedia is aware they are sending me a new board Monday 11/29/2010 I have been talking with Jay Lyons (Jay.Lyons@avermedia.com) and he said it was something heat related but he didn't elaborate. The unit I have is the EH5108H, second one actually. Right now I am pretty disappointed but customer service has been so good I haven't jumped ship yet. click pic for video
  16. You could set up an obvious "dummy" to take the attention from the real one. It's only money

    Where to buy?

Howdy, Been reading the forum for a couple days and I have found some very helpfull info, but one thing I can't find is how to acquire some of the products mentioned. For instance I was looking at a AVerDiGi EH5108H here: http://www.avermedia.com/averdigi/produ ... spx?id=254 but I cant find out how to actually buy one or a MSRP listing. I am in the Kansas City, KS area can anybody point me into the right direction?
