Best bang for the buck camera?

Unless they just left out the IR filter like the WBL20S
  2. I had an axis that had a horizontal line (at night only), can't remember whether the P3344 or P3346. Went away with a firmware update I think.

Best bang for the buck camera?

Does not mention ICR. I have a WBL20S and I can assure you it is a POS...compared to the WCM-20VF which is pretty good. If the similar model numbers imply the same camera I would avoid that one.
  4. Once you get above that many LED's on a single board (or possibly enclosure) you may have some thermal/lifetime issues. You may want to try adding a small fan like CNB does in their MIR. Note also that as the temp goes up the forward voltage changes, and unless you are using a constant current source the current will be higher. Also can help mitigate against a failed short unit in the string causing higher current draw. One easy way around that is picking up an old HP lab supply and using the constant current feature. Depending on the rating etc of the parts you may not end up with a 10 year solution unless the thermal design is thoughtfully addressed - but then again this may not be the goal. Good luck and nice to hear about your experiment.
  5. you can also try no-ip, I gave up on dyn

IP Camera that will use NAS storage ?

I tried it but do not use it. Pretty easy to set up using their free software. I don't know the protocol.

IP Camera that will use NAS storage ?

Interested in knowing which models you have. I have some 213's and would be thrilled to get them to record directly to a NAS. I think it is just some models, P1344/1346/3346/3344 work.

IP Camera that will use NAS storage ?

I know some of my Axis cams will record to NAS directly.
  9. Panasonic 484 (i.e. analog cam) at 2x sense up (1/30s) and WV-NP502 (IP cam) at 1/30s. Lighting outside is spillover from a fluorescent flood.

    High Quality Night Megapixel Camera

CCD is not always better, my Axis P1346 is better than the Pan 502 at a given shutter. Axis 1602 is supposed to be the best, not cheap for ~D1
  11. You'll get clogging as mentioned. Idiot homeowner before us had a rain sensor wired that way and it would always clog and overflow the gutters. Consider adding some encoders to the attic, sounds like you might have a run up there.
  12. Talked to Altronix today - they said the ripple is a typical amount, and that their supplies MUST be used with cameras that have isolated supplies. He said that it will not adjust down to 12V even though it is a 12V supply because it is the battery backup version. He also said if I used one of their "CCTV" supplies it would have the same ripple amount. Really, if a camera has isolated supplies it can be run off of 24VAC... So, it is operating as it is supposed to. In the pic you can see the devices that are not even bolted to the heatsink - just stuck with adhesive material. The one that is attached is with a rivet. This is not a good long term reliable solution. At least it has a UL listing which is more than most of the inexpensive supplies out there have. May post a video later of me taking a 40lb sledge to this thing. Luckily there is enough room inside for a good linear like power-one or acopian. This thing is not even in that league. I've never seen a switcher this noisy.
  13. Not until tomorrow after work, but will do then. The PWB does say altronix on it. Thanks, Mike
  14. Nah, there's to many details that are correct charger connection, 12/24V select, status relays etc. I suppose could be a bad supply, but I don't think the guy would do that - perfect feedback. I'll give Altronix a call tomorrow and see how much ripple this puppy is supposed to have.
  15. Maybe...this thing is a POS. Here's a scope shot at 1.5A. I thought this was a good brand. It is clear that it is new and never used. edit: scope shot is out of the system on the bench, resistive load.

Too many choices - Need some help.

If you're stuck on having a bullet the WCM20VF is about the same price as the one you linked to and has a varifocal and does as well as the dome in low light. I use one with external IR and disconnect the internal IR.
  17. get some perspex (search for "FILTER FOR NIGHT VISION" or similar) on ebay looks black from the outside. will work only with b&w cameras or cameras that are b&w. alternatively get some pinhole cameras, look at kt&c.

    connect dvr to router

type network in windows, list the devices. right click on the dvr, properties gives you the ip address. type that into a browser.

    Outdoor PIR Sensor

I gave up on PIR and use VitaminD analytics, buy a used Axis encoder or use an IP cam.

    Axis 241Q

Not only the 264, but the new one has SDHC to deal with the edge recording using their free camera companion software.
  21. Same here, we have audio - so it was funny one of the nuisance kids (who knew the camera was there) made sure to point it out to his friends "Hey he has a camera". Well he already knew that... One the plus side he no longer cuts through our yard...goes through the neighbors yard instead. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29539&hilit=pinhole+intercom
  22. VitaminD is just for event capture, and does not work with 264. Still my favorite for ease of review and analytics/notifications that work, along with other software recording continuously. Sounds like you're trying to do it on the cheap (and only during the day with those cams), Milestone Go is free but only local client.

    Axis Poe Adapter

Axis cams can sometimes be supplied from 12V etc or POE. Trendnet POE switches are around $40 at Newegg when on sale for 4 ports this might make your life easier.
  24. Avigilon gets this, also provides a histogram. Axis you can add to the header displayed, as attached (except that should be a small "B").
  25. Some cameras you can get multiple streams, and depending on the VMS does not have to be viewed at full res. In addition to what has been mentioned, I know that Axis ACS allows you to define based on the number of cameras the different frame rates image size etc that is in live view. Also bandwidth will depend on the type of encoding, for example on live view you could do mjpeg or mpeg4 etc. This is independent of the stream being recorded.
