hi wanted to knoe which camera will have the better quality image out of the following; a 540 tvl camera with a fixed lense of 3.6mm or a 420 tvl camera with a vario focal lense of 4 to 9mm p.s the two cameras have ir regards

yeah there is no way of telling unless you go and and look at the cameras yourself or go to a genuine dealer

well i bought my old cameras from an ebay store which where 'apparently' 540 tvl 3.6mm lense for around £40.00 and i compared these with the new 420 cameras with a vario lense, the picture was so much better and much more clear ps- the cameras are outdoor vandal domes

hi basically i want a system like they have in a shop where when the customer walks in they can see themselves on the screen, however i also want to record this footage, aswell as the footage from the other cameras and also i do not know how to show the single picture at the entrance tv screen (just the camera showing the face) without showing the picture of the other cameras. thanks

thanks for the reply, ive already set up the system which includes regular monitors, couldnt i use a t shape bnc then connect it to a bnc to vga converter? thanks

hi ive just bought and fitted the variofocal cameras they have the exact same picture as the 540 cameras if not better thanks guys

hi i wanted to know if there was actually any noticable difference of picture quality from using 420 or 540 as there isnt much difference in price between them or are they falsley advertised to make them sound better i have got a d1 res dvr, if there is any difference has any one got any examples please, thanks price for 420 tvl indoor camera is 25-30 price for 540 tvl indoor camera is 40-50 regards

hi i would like to know if there is a special type of ide hard drive for my dvr (like the sata hard drives) or should i just get a normal ide computer hard drive and put that in? ps, what is the difference between the types of ide hdd? regards

Hi halam. am having a hard time understanding your posts. you are making hard work for yourself ....... your first posts was what dvr to buy then you asked what H/D and we said it was best to order your dvr with it fitted........... you did not..........now your asking about differant H/D to buy and you are looking at pata. why. your dvr is on sata ...... WD black sata 1TB pc world £52. the reason why im looking for a pata hard drive becase the dvr that ive got has got the pata/ide connectors not the sats connectors

i think its just the ccd image device thats made by sony

so if i bought a sata av hdd and bought the adaptors that will change the connectors from pata to sata will the hard drive still work?

thanks but what i ment was that with a sata hdd you can get av hard drives that are made for stata hard drives, is there any type like the av one for ide/pata hdd or is it worth just getting a normal computer hdd with pata connections thankyou ps my dvr is an avtech kpd604 4 ch it has ide/pata connection wires regards

hi i am setting up a cctv system and i wanted to know how many hours i can record with a 1tb hard drive, once the hard drive is full what will happen? will it start to record over the saved footage or will it not record at all and i have to reset it myself, finally i also wanted to know if i can schedule the dvr to record from eg 9oclock to 5oclock . thanks

well the dvr is AvTech KPD-674 - 4 Channel CCTV H.264 Recorder the maximum capacity is 2tb what sort of hdd do i have to get does it have to be sv?
