    HID edge and Infinias sytems

Ive used infinias for 3 different installs and never had a problem. They are kinda new to the market but when you can run one cat5e to a door and power up to a 500ma lock or strike it works out pretty nice. One system ive had up for over a year and never had a single problem from it. I use my camera server as the server for it and it works fine. Doesnt bog the system down at all and its running 33 IP 1 megapixel cameras.

    Gigabit PoE switch recommendations

Netgear products are generally solid and affordable, but I will pay a premium to avoid fans. Best, Christopher Agreed. They do have fans but if you have a generally dust free area and in a closet with no worry about sound then they work fine. They are pretty cheap and work well.

    Exacq VMS or R2 3000

A $800 dell desktop could run this stuff. As long as it has a gigabit nic and sataII interface your good to go. I like exacq but what does having a warranty on a computer do when you gotta send it back to them to get it repaired. Your going to do the same thing with the dell. Id rather save the money and be able to go to the store and purchase another one instantly without having to wait. setup is easy by just loading the config file.

    Gigabit PoE switch recommendations

Netgear is the way to go for cost effective switches. Ive had several up and running for many days now and had zero problems. GS748TP for a 48 port FS728TP for a 24 port

    Exacq VMS or R2 3000

I would go with the dell. The only reason I would go with the exacq version is if you are not comfortable setting up your own. Exacq charges way too much for their version with upgraded drives. You can get a dell thats twice what theirs is for cheaper. PM me if you need any help designing the system. I just got through doing 33 axis megapixel cameras on a dell rackmount server with 10tb storage.
