IP Cameras Spot Monitor
Tom12345 replied to cwkamms's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
all the samsung ip cams have a analog vid post under the dome cover or in back of the cover for the bullets...or the 3mp ones have zoom and focus on the web interface, ....do it from your lazy boy if you want -
is there no way to send email notifications with these cube cameras through gmail or hotmail...latest firmware does not have ssl settings, which most emails require

why the hell do i have great focus during day then at night it goes soft....doesn't it have something to do with the cut filter or something????

i thought it would be called ground loop....not so fun when you got all the cameras installed already ...haha...the more i think about it...this last place had two breaker panels and my power supply was probably powered from one but the cameras mounted to the metal were nearest the other break panel, which may have been closer to that ground source??? food for thought....it was that way in another place too...seperate buildings and power sources......whats that mean uneven grounds at each place cause the issue? intresting........

sheetmetal on outside of industrial building...so this is the second install for analogue i have ever had where i mount good ol Joe Blow bullet cameras on the outside of the building to the sheet metal covering and end up with scrolling horizontal bars rolling down to up on the screen..i did install one camera and mounted to a light pole outside that was not even attached to the building and same situation. other cameras in the inside of the building, domes mounted on drywall or wood. no problems. anything mounted to metal on the property was an issue.....had to mount all metal cameras attached to anything metal on nylon with nylon screws or bolts....coincidentally no problems with an ip camera on the property whats with that?

just put in an altronix power supply and see what happens....12 volt 1 amp per can is all you need...hopefully you did not mess the cable up pulling it...check for a short on power..sometime that won't even help....i had same situation just replace cable then...use the old cable as a pull string...good luck
-
change the power supply first...then make sure where the supply is getting power from, there is not something fishy going on from there. i have installed about 25 of these cams with 12 volt supplies like you...no issue with that on off thing you got... what brand and model power supply????

mabye this dome just ain't gonna work so good at night then...mabye then lens for ip megapixel domes just arn't there yet...i can focus it awesome for night,,but when day comes it looks like crap...and vice versa Does the lens say IR on it anywhere? Or day/night? If not, then it's nothing to do with whether it's a dome, or IP, or a megapixel camera, or a megapixel lens. From your description, it sounds like you're using a non-IR-corrected lens on a TDN camera... and that's purely user error. here are the specs...they are the same lens as the dome with ir http://www.samsung-security.com/SAMSUNG/upload/Product_Specifications/SNV-7080-Specifications.pdf i threw a couple mir 1000 illuminators into the mix some night vid http://youtu.be/AEGnENReZRA?hd=1

rory do you hang out in the ubiquiti forums...there is another Rory there?

IR light focuses differently from visible light, which means when the cut filter moves away, the visible-light portion of the image may still be in focus, but the IR wavelengths' focus will be soft. Normally you'd use IR-corrected lenses, which have optics specifically designed to address this problem. In your case, the extra glass may be designed to compensate for it, although in the TDN cameras I've used, the glass does nothing special - without IR corrected lenses, they also go fuzzy when they switch to night mode. The other issue is that as the aperture opens up, the depth of field decreases (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field for more info). With auto-iris lenses, the aperture tends to be decreased during the day (when cameras are most often set up), which provides greater DOF, and so you have a wider range of adjustment where things are still in focus... but once it gets dark and the iris opens, the DOF gets thinner, and if your point of focus is too close or far, then everything gets fuzzy. This problem is not specific to TDN cameras, BTW. yes that makes perfect sense....i think it is a combo of aperture and the ir.. any ip cameras out there that have good focus in day and night....
-
ok i gotta try that....i think when the lens opens up to f 1.2 it gets soft anyhow.....
-
ok that sounds good. i'd be willing to give it a shot
