  2. how was the reliability and image quality
  3. hahaha...so this camera gets alarm inputs from an optex outdoor motion with voice annunciation...it is hooked upto a loud pa speaker. the pa speaker is to the girl in the videos right..look at her expression when it went off...hahahha...it says "intruder intruder leave now the authorities have been notified" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRyau-lZMJs
  4. yeah you can get it for less than half that though

    VCM-24VF Excessive noise

i just installed 3 of these mona lisa domes...you need to set the camera permantely in black and white mode. the switch level like rory says is more than terrible. picture looks like crap cause the gain is really high...just lower the agc level in the menu, or set it in black and white mode permantely.
  6. And you say you can connect it to existing DVRs also? Thats what i like .. to have that option plus the other option. I dont see that dome here though: http://www.samsungcctvusa.com/products/Products.aspx?CategoryID=17&SubCategoryID=5 I see it here though http://www.samsung-security.com/SAMSUNG/upload/Product_Specifications/SNV-7080_Datasheet.pdf yeah samsung-security...go there to look for products....yes there is an analogue output on the camera so you can run analogue and ip at the same time
  7. it is a dome ...i think 2.8 to 8mm
  8. snv-7080 dome...there is a good amount of light but they are $140 lowes led lights.. pretty powerful for cheap
  9. it is either 1/30 or 1/60th a sec. agc is set to low. no magic settings turned on to help it out...
  10. yeah so far...i think they are making the Silverlight interface a little faster with each update. so thats a plus...there are plenty of settings for image control. i like the fact that i can run this cam and record mega pixel images to the sd card for events, and then use the analogue output to plug into an analogue dvr. works good for existing customers without breaking the bank with all ip..quality construction. i have had another 1.3mp samsung up and running for 4 months now and no hiccups at all. works great on a smart phone with their app. (ipolis) another topic. i did install one of those fisheye vivoteks. the 8171 and wow that f2.8 lens makes that thing terrible in low light.. it worked ok for the application i installed but that *** needs illuminators...cam is interesting, could be used for some fun stuff

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

the 8:39 time image of the ktc looks good, but again it's all about even lighting. rory do you have a d1 capture of them...kinda small. obviously the ex 82 looks great...it better for the dough they want for it

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

Tom - With any amount of contrast or dynamic colors/lights, mine look worse than yours; and yours don't look all that great (just sayin'); they look "acceptable", but certainly not "premium-priced-Samsung". Also, their tech support has fallen off a cliff for my concerns. I am not going to pursue any factory adjustments anyway, unless of course something else goes wrong under warranty. But, I am also not buying another Samsung, and I do have 1 more camera that needs replacing. i will mention with those sco's at full wide focal length they have an issue with blur on the outer edges of the frame...i'm still looking for a great bullet for my low budget installs, but am going purely megapixel nowadays anyhow...f...k it. they wanna play, they gotta pay. (CSI show enchance here we come)))) lol

But, I am also not buying another Samsung, and I do have 1 more camera that needs replacing. what are you comparing your images to refrence good or bad (show an image you like). daytime shots with high contrast scenes and lots of uneven lighting makes anything look crappy. you can't have a camera that has perfect pictures in all conditions. it usually ends up getting set up for a particular circumstance. the samsungs seem to have been best all around (balancing good scenes and bad)... i just put some cnb's in and in high contrast they look the same(acceptable but not super)...mabye try to put the cam in black and white mode and see if the dynamic range evens out if thats what your going for. i am stuck thinking this h.264 codec and compression makes any of these cameras look poor. mabye its the bit rate....but plug the cam directly into a crt screen and they look awesome... I'll post some pics in a few days of a 3mp samsung i am installing...we'll see how that does..

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

i use these cam all the time...you gotta play with the settings or something...i have installed about 25 of them...and the dvr line and smart viewer software rocks. it is easy for the customer to use and figure out. plus to recorded h.264 quality is top notch for analogue. they even work with net i veier software which helps you to integrate analogue and ip...

    Suspected ground loop issue

i had this type of problem and ending up mounting all the cameras on nylon with nylon nuts and bolts
  20. Is mbps recording specs not listed with alot of manufacturers nvr's? I can't find alot of them...I have a 1.3 mp running at 2000kbps and am pretty happy with it. it streams 22fps from a non local connection to end user with a 3 mbps upload rate. what would be a good rule of thumb to look for in nvr specs for mbps throughput for recording for 16+ cameras? whats is a happy medium kbps stream for 1920x1080, setting the camera bit rate(bandwidth non local connection) for decent picture
  21. 6 outdoor 14 indoor... question is...go with two 16 channel analogue machines and cameras or go with ip cams and nvr..not necessarily a budget job but every job is...isn't it?
  22. what does anyone know about these new ge units... http://www.interlogix.com/resources/truvision/tvr60_ds_pages.pdf
  23. any ideas on this unit http://surveillance.aver.com/product/pure-NVR-XR8032-RACK
  24. what is the price of that pro box for 32 cams including any additional cost like licensing
  25. You will need to decide if you need an expensive camera for those small rooms or if a $50 one would suffice. yeah a $70 camera would do the job just fine...it is lit fine inside the store. they layout of the store is really demanding quantity of cameras rather than quality. at an ip cameras price standpoint it does not look like its going to make it as competitive as analogue, especially providing some low light availability on the outdoor cams without the price inflating drastically
