Dahua Megapixel Camera- which VMS software FULLY support it?
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi lemike41, Thanks for you input again. According to your last statment.... It seems like system with i7 CPU is capable of handing 25-30 channels of real time video monitoring and recording with hitting Maximum CPU usage. But then it depends on what kind of resolution of decoding and encoding the system is doing. Thanks. the latest i7 are killers my cpu usage is approx 25% while viewing & recording, and approx 10% while recording only, i have 3 monitors, 1 for the desktop, 1 with 6 cams (6 x 1.3mp) and 1 with 12 cams (7 x D1 and 5 x 1.3MP) i can't reach 100% even if i fast review all my cams Sigh ......looks like I need find more $$$ to buy a i7 CPU and motherboard and DDR3 memories in the future, if I want to get a couple of H.264 MP cameras running properly. May I know what kind of VMS are you using? Thanks. -

Hi "Buelwinkel", I notice you have your NVR+ running successfully. Care you show how to add ACTi cameras using the Config Tool??? For the device type: Launch IP Series- this what I selected. host = 192.168.1.xxx Port = 80 Username = admin Password = XXXX But fail to recognise the camera. Anyway does the NVR+ supports ACTi cameras? However, for Axis cameras, no problem at all. It can recongize it without problem. Thanks. -

Hi badgcoupe, Thanks for your replying. " title="Applause" /> May I know what kind of CPU you are currently using Milestone Xprotect? Core2 Duo/ Quad Core Duo /i3 / i5 ? I am using xProtect essential with software side motion detection. It utilizes about 25% of the processor (according to task manager.) I am running 3 1.3MP bullets and a 2MP bullet style camera. When live viewing it jumps up to about 35-40%. How to manage to get Xprotect Essential work with 3 x 1.3MP + 1 x 2MP Dahua cameras, when the Xprotect camera support list only showed, it only supports a 3MP Box Dahua camera? Please refer to my screenshot at this link: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/8218/digifortmilestonexprote.jpg. You will see at the bottom, you can find only 1 Dahua camera is supported I'd say the biggest bottleneck in my system is the conventional mechanical 7200RPM hard disks. The only time I notice any speed issues is when reviewing motion detected footage in the monitor application. Same as me too, when doing video investigation, the system will take some time to retrieve the video data from the storage hard disk. This is something that we have to accept it. Unless one has the spare $$$ and get oneself some of the super-duper fast SDDs. I'm not sure about the support for the 3MP but I would assume ONVIF would cover that with Milestone, they seem to do well supporting ONVIF supported devices. I started with the trial to ensure before I bought anything. Thank you. -

Thanks of your comment. Something just pops into my mind...........what about support? Does the company provide support forum? I cannot seems to find it. I know it does have a support form to fill up if you have problem with the software, but do they committed in replying your question promptly and efficiently. Or just simply ignore you and leave you scrambling everywhere to get help. That what I really worry about when comes buying a VMS software from Asian countries. -

Hi badgcoupe, Thanks for your input. May I know which version Milestone Xprotect you are using to test your Dahua cameras? Xprotect Go??? or Essential??? Milestone Xprotect only support 1 model of Dahua camera, and that is the IP-HF3300P or a PAL version. This is a 3MP camera, did you have 4 units of 3MP cameras tested using MS Xprotect at your home. Also what is your Core i5 CPU usage in terms of % = 10% or 30 %??? when doing live monitoring on 4 x 3MP cameras + software motion detection is enabled in MS Xprotect on 4 cameras? Your answers is much appreciated. Thanks. -

Finally I found the link to download the "NVR+" software that "buellwinkle" is testing..... Here is the link:http://www.ipcctv-software.com/downloads.html -you need to get yourself registered using your email, in order to download. After that, it will automatically jump to Cnet website Or...alternatively, if you don't like them knowing your email address, you can download straight from this link: http://download.cnet.com/NVR/3000-2348_4-75578497.html?tag=mncol;1, Don't click the green download button. Just below it you will see a small link stating: Direct Download Link, click this link, then you see your browser will start to download the file: nvr-ipcctv.zip which contains NVR+ v3.3.3 " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> It seems like the software maker is Linovision, I may be wrong. Hi Koolmer, You are mistaken They have a very good VMS. http://cqkczloa.gotoip3.com/Home/SubCategoryDetails/40 For some reason all pictures are gone from the website... And there is no compatibility list... They have good support though, they are also around in this forum sometimes. Exactly where can I download the software from? I was looking at the link that you given, above, but when I click download and select ANY of the products, like....."NVMP_site", it will just show me the log on page. I get myself registered, till now my account is not activated yet, since I did not receive any email notice for asking me to activate my account. I hate to say this, the website is kind of "half-cooked", this kind of work does not show a good impression to potential customer who is interested in Netvision DVR products. So the first impression completes the whole picture about the company. And the impression is very negative..... Thanks. -

Hi D&C_ELECTRONICS, Thanks for replying my questions. " title="Applause" /> From the following Link you can download all Versions of Digifort. http://www.digifort.com/downloads You can activate 4 Hours Temporary License (You tube video I post earlier) or If you want send me PM to give you 30 Days Trial Version. Also If you need Prices, send me PM Sigh....to many things to do...hopefully I can find some peace and quiet time to test all the programs. 30 day trial version, I might just consider that..... The 30 days trial version supports how many camera? Still 4 units? By the way, it is good to hear that Digifort supports camera built-in hardware motion detection, since I have a couple of the ACTi Megapixels cameras that has this function available. This feature will definitely offset the load from the CPU. I personally see this a great benefit after testing LuxRiot Advanced version. Thanks. -

Hi thewireguys, Thanks for you input. It is no secret that Milestone uses a lot of CPU cycles to run their software. I presume you have some experience in using Milestone Xprotect surveillance program. I am just wondering does all versions of Milestone Xprotect, like Essential, Express...etc suffer the same problem, that is the program really consumes lots of much of the CPU resources, and therefore making a Quad core CPU installed desktop PC to perform at snail's pace? Thanks. -

Dahua Megapixel Camera- which VMS software FULLY support it?
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi buellwinkle, Thanks for you advice. However, there are some drawbacks.............. It does not support the full range of Dahua cameras compares to Digifort. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Maximum 5 days storage- definitely not acceptable in a production environment. I guess Xprotect Go with 8 free version is really meant for home use or a small business office place to use. No web client (remote client)- instead it has Smart client and Xprotect Mobile for Iphone and Android phones. So you cannot use IE browser to view remotely when you are away in a business trip or holidays. Refering to your Miestone Xprotect Go review: http://ipcamnetwork.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/milestone-xprotect-go-nvr-software/ At the conclusion, you stated you had some issue about the slowness of your PC. I am surprised that Xprotect Go was consuming a lot CPU resource for viewing 4 HD H.264 cameras and making your PC responded slowly. What kind of Quad core CPU you had for testing the software? Intel or AMD? A Quad core CPU should able to handle the job quite easily without making a sweat! Thanks. -

Hi D&C_ELECTRONICS, Thanks for your input. Digifort software seems to be very attractive. I checked out the camera support list and it does support all the Dahua cameras. Does it supports camera hardware motion detection? Meaning that the VMS is relying the camera's built-in motion analysis for motion detection. Rather than solely relying VMS to do the job. Having this way, will save a lot of CPU resource. Thanks -

Hi buellwinkle, Sigh.... , it is just too bad....it did not work, I was hoping that it did work. Actually, my plan is going for Nuuo VMS software, since customer is more comfortable with it rather switching to Milestone. Otherwise, if it does, then my customer needs to be educated of using a entire new VMS which will cause extra $$$. Due to the fact that we are buying the hardware and software in US Dollars which is 3 times of our currency, every penny that we can save means a lot to us. Sigh... so I guess..., I just have to wait and see when Nuuo is going come out the device pack for supporting Dahua cameras. Thanks. -
Dahua Megapixel Camera- which VMS software FULLY support it?
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi buellwinkle, Thanks for your comments. I actually was given kind of like...a warning from Nuuo eHelpDesk, saying that I should contact my own local Nuuo distributor and Nuuo regional sales, to find out what is the schedule or time line for supporting the newer Dahua cameras. How strange??? The guy even mentioned that eHelpDesk is for you to post "technical questions" about their products. Anything that is not related, they expect you to "shut up and keep quiet." Gosh! Can't they do it in a nicer way.... Now apparently, if I am not mistaken during the previous contact about supporting newer cameras, if you want to get support, then the Nuuo salesperson need to know what kind of high profile projects which involves buying a lot of Nuuo hardware/software to support your Dahua cameras (10-20 units, may be?). If the project is huge and then lots of Nuuo products is sold in this project, then will consider your request is justifiable of having your desired Dahua cameras to be supported. Otherwise, you can just forget it. And wait.........indefinitely. Please don't quote me on this, I may be wrong here...... As for Blue Iris, I am not sure it is qualified to be used in large scale /enterprise project, even though BI supports the latest Dahua 2MP H.264 cameras. Anyway nice review on the Dahua 2MP camera, great job. Oh...well...what can I do is sit and wait, until Nuuo releases the device pack which can support the newer Dahua cameras. By the way, just a suggestion, since Nuuo supports the Dahua IPC-HF3211 2MP CCD camera (according to the camera support list) Dahua IPC-HF3211 2MP CCD camera Link:-http://www.dahuatech.com/english/product_info.aspx?type=339&&css=0&&id=10 Have you try this preset profile of IPC-HF3211 in Nuuo IP+ software(select Dahua, select IPC-HF3211), to force Nuuo to recognize your camera to be IPC-HFW3200C. And use this setting to work? -
High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in AverMedia
Dear vnzill Thanks for your feedback. I did not know that you able to run the Avermedia software on an AMD CPU. I taking a wild guess................. I reakon, there is something to do with the FSB, if the FSB is 800Mhz(like using Pentium 4 3GHz), no matter how fast the CPU is, not even a Pentium-D Dual Core socket 775 can match the FSB speed of the Pentium Dual Core E6XXX series CPU which is running at FSB = 1066. At this moment, the Pentium Dual Core E6500 is said to be able to support the Avermedia NV software. Correct, exporting of video clips using Pentium 4 did not work 100%. Basically, it managed to export but the footage was almost have pixelating problem which I could not work out what was the scene about. I think there is enough consensus to say that this forum should have a "sticky" for warning all Avermedia user to avoid building low end system like the Pentium 4 which is not supported at all if Avermedia NV DVR software is used, even though it is listed on the hardware requirement. I think the moderator already knows about it and waiting to get confirmation from the adminstrator. Thanks. -
Hi, I just built a new CCTV PC with the following spec. below: Intel Pentium D 930 3GHz FSB:800MHz Kingston 1GB DDR2 PC800 x2 = 2GB Asus P5KL-AM motherboard(Intel G31 chipset) Sapphire ATI HD 3850 512MB 64bit PCI-E Seagate Barracuda SATAII 320GB x2 = 640DB Avermedia NV5000 PCI card x2 = 8 channels. A fresh installed of the following software: Windows XP Pro SP3 Avermedia NV DVR 7.7.0.0055SP3 I have noticed a problem from my new CCTV PC, when the Avermedia surveillance software is loaded and running with no analog CCTV cameras attached. My CPU load is already staying at about 50% and while 8 cameras are connected, the load will hover around about 80%. All CPU load % was displayed on the task manager. So, as you can imagine, the PC will hit 100% when it is doing exporting video files and plus some other things. Note: Recording size = 352 x 288 (not D1 resolution) and compression = Advanced MPEG4. Questions: 1) What could be the reason of having high CPU load when no cameras are connected? 2) Am I having a slow hardware spec that causes the high CPU load on the system? 3) Could any anti virus or anti malware be the cause of the high CPU loading? Thanks for any advice given, your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you. Regards, Marcus

High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in AverMedia
Hi rory, All this while, I have been dealing with NV5000 cards which is using software compression. Meaning, it requires high CPU cycles to handle the processing job of compressing video frames. On the other hand, have you ever dealt with the NV7480 card? This is card is using hardware compression. I know the price is quite costly. But, I suspect that it may work on a Pentium 4 system since the card has its own processor to do the compression on the fly, by its own. What do you think? Any comment and advice is much appreciated. Thanks. -
High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in AverMedia
Dear rory, Avermedia and Geovision are both Taiwanese companies. Their software developers or field application engineers(fae) are too engrossed/worried about testing thier DVR software that they tend to forget that outside from thier testing labs, many people are still using old hardware, like the Pentium 4s, while they are developing software on higher end machines. I think the engineers/developers hired from outside(outsource) So, therefore they have outlooked this minor issue. Great!!!, it sounds like you are agreeing to my findings. At least, I am not the only person is having this kind of problem! I think is fair to everyone that a sticky be written and posted on top of this forum to warn Avermedia and Geovision users, don't you agree? I think low end Pentium Dual Core is suffice to meet all the hardware requirements at this stage. But, it is hard to imagine, how your customer PC with a Pentium 4 2.4GHz can support 15 cameras efficently!!!! I bet the response to do anything on the PC must be very slow. The last time, I used a Pentium 4 system to support 3 cameras while have dual NV5000 dvr cards, I had a problem with the exporting of video footage while coverting to avi file. The result of playing back the avi video footage was horrible. The video playback had pixelating problem while watching it. Boxes of boxes showing up, so I suspected at that time, the CPU was not fast enough to do the job. And guess what? It turned out to be true. On a side note, I am venturing out to search for DVR cards that runs on top of open source, like Linux. The advantage is that customer does not need to buy a window license solely for the purpose of running the DVR software. When customer don't need to buy a license, then customer can save some money to buy an extra camera instead. Tough, Linux DVR cards are not cheap these days. Thanks. -
High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards

Hi rory, Thanks for your feedback. True, I myself follow the hardware spec. to the dot, and thought the P4 will be suffice to handle the task (As I have a P4 system lying around doing absolute nothing and it will be good that I put it in good use). But obviously not!!! Even, the Pentium-D CPU cannot handle the processing job using 2 NV5000 DVR cards efficently. Every now and then, I can feel there is a bottleneck some where in the system. If all 8 channels are capturing moving objects, then the CPU has to work harder to catch up the load of compression and recording. The hardware spec on the Avermedia website has not been updated. Therefore, it will be wise for them to revise it because the information is definitely outdated. And...for your information, no anti virus software was installed on any of my CCTV PC. Thanks. can i ask why you used 2 nv5000 cards why did you not just use 1 card and a add on card to give you 8. and it would have been cheaper to have just used the nv6000 than buying 2 nv5000. the spec you have listed is for 1 card. and 1 BNC video extention card. to give you 8 Hi tomcctv, Thanks for the comment and question. Very simple, simply because my customer wants a 200 fps video surveillance system. Meaning, he does not want to see non-real time channels. You are right, I can add on the extension 4 BNC connector to make up 8 channels but that arrangement will lower the fps to = 12.5 fps (100fps/8) which not desirable in this project. I don't think the NV6000 is available in the market, is there? The next availabe model is the NV6240EAV which to the customer is cost prohibitive. Anyway, that is beside my point. My point is about the hardware recommended list should be updated to use Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 CPU 2.93GHz or the Pentium Dual Core E6500 2.9GHz. Both CPUs have a higher FSB= 1066MHz. Instead of the Pentium 4 CPU 3 GHz which has got a FSB= 800MHz. This CPU it is not fast enough to handle all the processing task. Thanks. -

High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards
liukuohao replied to liukuohao's topic in AverMedia
Hi all, I have to correct something I stated before: No matter which version of NV DVR software v7.x series is installed on my Pentium-D 930 system, the slowness(high CPU load) still persist and I have a hard time finding the cause of the problem!!!! Now, I think I have found a way to solve the problem of mine . The recommended hardware list from avermedia website is not 100% true. Meaning that if you a Pentium 4 system running a single NV5000 dvr card, the CPU may handle the load. However, for a system to support dual NV5000 dvr cards, A Pentium 4 3GHz is just not fast enough to carry out the task of recording and displaying 8 channels 25fps using AdvancedMPEG4 compression. If you do, the CPU load is always at 90-99% max. Note: The Pentium 4 system is not being used for anything else except for CCTV surveillance. Ok, now I thought, a Pentium-D 930 3GHz will do a faster job. Nope. . It is actually not quite fast enough, its CPU load is hovering around about 80% a little a bit better, but still not fast enough. So, eventually, I have to dismantle everything and bought the following hardware: 1) Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz CPU 2) Asus P5G41CM-LX motherboard Now, the E7500 2.93GHz CPU is doing about 25% which is now fast enough to do other things, like exporting video footage out from the video archive. So, I think the recommended minimum CPU hardware is a Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 and not Pentium 4. The avermedia technical people should update this information. This will save a lot hassle later on from other avermedia users. Thanks. -

It seems like I am not the only person is having this kind of problem about the slowness when using the the latest software: Avermedia NV DVR 7.7.0.0055SP3. Please read this thread that I have found: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=19663- This guy is using a Intel Quad processor + Asus motherboard with Intel chipset and the slowness was the one of the real issue. It seems to me that Avermedia NV DVR 7.7.0.0055SP3 is only meant for NV6000 cards and higher series models. And it does not support the NV5000 card If the older software: Avermedia NV DVR v7.3.0.0043d is installed on my CCTV PC(which has 2 cards of NV5000), the problem about slowness and high CPU load, does not seem to exist. Does anyone agree with me? Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Marcus
