Is customs always that bad?? I have had one or two issues but thats it. The worsst one was some LCDS going into Canada $3200 customs fee Senstar **** bricks when they got that charge. I would have though going to the bahamas would be easier. The other insident was just recent comming from extreme a reg was held up for 5 days because the paper work was missing fed tax id.

So are most manufactures, I have a customer in Puerto Rico I treat the same Hell my dads from mexico, mom from Ireland. I don't discriminate.

Thats a good question!!! I think you should try it and let us know. I am sure if it doesn't work you could return it if still in good shape.

When I have a warranty issue I make the manufacture pay for red freight for the replacement and return freight for the defective unit.

It gets tricky when you are talking on several subjects.

I wasn't refering to cameras just illuminators. I love taking apart things too. Why is there no warranty in the bahamas?? Isn't a warranty a warranty no matter what?? I have a customer in Puerto Rico and I warranty all his stuff just like in the states.

Next thing I will hear is Rainbow doesn't get there IR's from Extreme.

I just call them like I see them. I do agree the edsr series suck nuts but so does the pelco dx7000 but look at the dx8000 much better and everfocuses new edr1680 is nice haven't had any problems yet better knock on wood. But hell just three...I had 3 doa Vicon kollectors in a row thats over $30000. Now how many of you guys have actually taken apart these units?? I have ran accross several DVRs that have the exact same guts just diffenerent skins.

Ya I have had bad experiences with those MG's not having enough juice. Altronics and stealth my favs have heard good things about b-tron and p3 as well.

if you look closely you will notice most of those names mentioned are the same dvr like speco everfocus, vitek and so-forth. I know rory doesn't like everfocus but they actually manufacture there dvr's and have several factories overseas and for the right price and volumn will make you a dvr of your very own. Not certain but I think some of viteks and speco's dvrs are made by everfocus.

ounds like alot more work then its worth. The visio thing wotkd good and if you are stiil worried get a vf lens that will compensate either way.

Ya its looks alot better then a bunch of power strips with wall worts plugged in them.

I have used my teeth too till I pulled off a cap and it cost me $500 to fix.

toshiba has a great 32 ch pc based dvr, so does samsung and arm but they are not cheap. Toshiba probably has best tech support

Seriously couldn't pick a favorite... have had good and bad experiences with at least 20 different makes and models.

It is like any other oem product..hit n miss. Some products are good some are not so good. All products wether its GE or Mace you are going to get some bad apples..no body is perfect..especially when it comes to delicate electronic devices. I personally will just about try anything once if they have support.

Hell if he is in CA I have lots of short 500 ft rolls that I have taken a run or 2 off of I will give the guy. Heck siemese is what about 14 cents a ft.

The first install I did I was working in a warehouse as a temp and the boss had this 4 camera system he asked me to put up so I said sure how hard could it be...well it took me like an hour to figure out how to put on a twist bnc. Talk about frustration. That was only 3 years ago. The next one I tried was a 4 part crimp because according to the "PROFESSIONAL" who had been doing this for years "You know you have a good connection when you put the pin on the center conductor yourself" My ass that was worse then the twist ons. After trying 3 piece, 2 piece, one piece (which I liked) compression and snap-n-seals I decided that everyone has there own method they like and for people who aren't looking to get into the industry, who just want to put a couple cameras in or on there house by themselves cause they don't have the money to pay an installer 4 ready made cables at 10 - 15 dollars a piece are alot easier then dealing with BNC's, siemese 500 ft or 1000ft rolls and all the tools you only are going to use once.

You are right it wasn't nice but when 20 pro's all with different styles of wiring tell this guy all there opinions it is confusing as hell. I personally have used around 6 different stlyes of bncs and well power is a completely different story..there are at least 10 ways I can think of off the top of my head. Ready made cables might not be the best but they work for people all the time and its alot easier then trying to fugure out what 10 installers who all use different methods are saying...hell I was confused for a while trying to follow things. You know what I mean??

You would have to be stupid to try to pull ready made cables through conduit but if this guy can't figure out how to wire something as simple as siemese cable then do you really thing he is fishing the cable? He can get ready made cables and run them along the wall with those covers they sell at home depot I know its not very professional but if he was a professional he wouldn't be asking these questions right??

Sounds like a protocal issue. Definatly need to know what the ptz models are. If the dvr controls one on pelco p and the new ptz works on pelco p then there shouldn't be a problem I would double check the setting and specs.

I think they just changed the terminology because c-mos has a bad name in CCTV. Out of the 200 brands of cameras I deal with I have yet to see a HD Sensor on a spec sheet. Sony and Panasonic both have 3-ccd cameras with 850lor but they still don't say HD Sensor whatcha think??

The first I actually trouble shot a system with this problem it was so funny it ended up being a fuse on one channel of the power supply was out.
