it was my firewall in fremont office. i guess it doesn't matter where you are, both ends need to have the required ports open.

the Geovison card is installed and run fine in L.A office. i can use Webcam view without any problem at all from my home using DSL. the problem is at my San Jose office where i can access Webview through an external static IP machine but i CAN NOT connect to Webcam server if i use a client machine within my network and the client machine is dynamic address. is the problem my firewall in san jose office preventing it or L.A office? or is there something else?

Geovision questions about monitoring, schedule and recycle
lucky888 replied to lucky888's topic in Geovision
it sounds like the recycle process is automated therefore i do not need to schedule it. i would have it run around the clock without worrying about lack of hard disk space since it is recycled itself. -
Geovision questions about monitoring, schedule and recycle
lucky888 replied to lucky888's topic in Geovision
am i understanding you right? i should have it set recording around the clock and not to worry about the hard disk space. the program is smart enough to recycle it if it is out of space. i don't need to schedule even because i don't see any use there. -
Geovision questions about monitoring, schedule and recycle
lucky888 replied to lucky888's topic in Geovision
thank you for the delete part. so there is no recyclying configuration, the software will do it automatically which is fine. i have 300GB and 220Gb is reserved for it, would this cover it for a month at least i wonder? please help me to understand the recording part. which is the normal process of recording? if i click on "Start Monitoring All" button, it starts recording it right away. i guess this would start the process and it would record till you tell it to stop. is this how you do it? the other option would be you set the schedule and it would just record according to the schedule. it would stop when it is done. -
As i try to figure out more and test my new Geovision card, i have these questions because i can't figure them out yet: Scheduling: i added a test schedule and run it. i have questions and problems. A test schedule is run and i accessed webview and logged in but it says "No Privileges", if i turn off the schedule run then i can view the feed. is the problem has to do with configuration somwhere or that's how it works. Additional about scheduling, once you schedule it, i don't see a button anywhere allows me to delete a schedule, only modifying. ???? Recycling: i am right by default Geovsion recycles the backup every 30 days??? how does the recycle process work? if i would like to delete certain recording files, there is no function to deleted under Video/Audio log, is this where you delete stuffs or are you allowed to do it at all?

Webview is not accessable on Geovision card
lucky888 replied to lucky888's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
the problem was my machine iis. i installed on another machine and in IIS, i created a new site and pointed to Webtemp folder under G1240 and it is working. i can access it internally from any client machine. the problem that i have now is external connection. i can't log in externally. it always says can't log in because the user log in id and password is not right. i use the same account internally and no problem at all. any help where i should look into. -

Webview is not accessable on Geovision card
lucky888 posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I just bought a Geovision GV1280 and installed it. Everything is fine but when i tried to access webview or tried to view via web browser and i would not be able to access it. any help would be appricated. My machine is using Windows Media Editon 2005 and it has IIS installed. I have installed. I looked at Configuration in Geovision under server setup and it looks as though it picks up my IP address automatically something like 192.168.0.5 and port is 3550. i tried this http://192.168.0.5:3550 but nothing is coming up. am i missing some other configuration or it does not support Windows Media Edition? please help???? -
Hi cmf, of course that's helpful. i don't know if you are allowed to list what you did pay for the cameras and the GV1240-8 card and where you bought them. if you can, please let me know via my PM if you don't mind.

thank you! i knew it would be somewhere in the policy but i did not read it and sorry about that. anyhow, i need a quote for GV-800 card and 6 day/night IR cameras
-
i assume i am not allowed to list the prices. that's ok. any suggestion which website is best for Geovion, Video Insight cards and cameras i have mentioned above or anyone can give me a quote i would appriciate it.

i have narrowed down to these: Geovision GV-800 [edit - link removed by mod - non retail price ] Video Insight may be VJ120 i may go with this camera day/night color with IR http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/product.php?productid=16140&cat=104&page=1 am i on the right track? are the prices reasonable? one quick question about Q-See products! is this card any good? http://www.q-see.com/newwebsite-design/digi-equip/DVRPC/qspdvr08-bottom.htm

the server can be built and used for this purpose only and nothing more. all cameras are indoor. i would prefer: color cameras day/night vision capable motion recording(does this come with the software or the camera itself) resolution is decent enough to view on the web. it looks as though i would go with something like VideoInsight VJ60, i would build the system myself plus purchasing cameras. here are few quesitons i have: would VJ60 work with any camera or analog only? this question may sound stupid but i am not sure how often one would record. i can't imagine you would record every second and you would have no space left on your harddisk in such a short time. i imagine the software would give me the option to select when and how often i would record.
