  1. What makes me really nervous about Q-SEE and its recommendations to allow IE to use the remote access: 1) It seems to recommend IE, but makes you configure ActiveX so that it disables/removes many safeguards that are enabled by default and therefore exposing your system to security risks. 2) It says you can use firefox, but you need to install the IE TAB which appears to have alot of malware etc. In my opinion any company that has to expose your PC like this should be avoided.
  2. I am trying a speco HT-7246iHR with a Q-See dvr. I found the tuning to be a bit of a pain because when viewing through a smaller LCD screen next to the camera, it looked quite a bit different than when viewing through the DVR. It would be so handy to be able to tune these cameras remotely, rather than on the top of an extension ladder. Here is a rough tuned image of this camera Even though this image isn't the clearest, and has some bleeding of colors, its way better then then the ones that came with the q-see dvr.

    Hey Everyone

I take highway 1 now from Cloverdale to about W. Broadway and Cambie. It the fastest for me but, I have to leave before 5am to avoid silly traffic. So when the Port Mann becomes toll, it won't be any faster in the mornings since there isn't as much traffic when I leave. Coming home it should be faster once the road work is done. Thing is, $6 bucks a day is another $120 bucks a month.. on top of parking at about $170/mo (taxed in Vancouver at 35%), and then gas at about $200/mo or more, it all adds up. Vancouver really sucks for getting nickeled and dimed with all these fees, tolls and taxes.
  4. I had the QT426-811-5 from costco, and the cmos cameras are awful. The DVR is ok.. but I had problems trying to get its remote functionality to work on IE8.

    Hey Everyone

ya Don't get me started on tolls in BC though.. I have to drive to Vancouver everyday, and it will be fun to pay $6/day tolls across that bridge. I think I need to find a job in Langley or something

  7. This is from BBB.org looking up all three companies (BBB has them all as the same address): Business Name: Surveillance Video Business Address: 387 Canal Street New York , NY 10013 Business Name: 123 Security Products Business Address: 387 Canal Street New York, NY 10013 Business Name: Canal Alarm Devices, Inc. Do-It Yourself Surveillance Center Business Address: 387 Canal Street New York, NY 10013 I'm a bit nervous ordering from them with the issues and some of the ratings on BBB.
