Hey, I have set up milestone xprotect go, wonderful...can view my sanyo hd 3500p full HD dome ip cams...currently it is in jpeg and 1280x 1040 (something like that) not the 1920x.(max resolutoin....so basically not the highest resolution, when i change it to h.264 it loses connection with the camera. Basically, i am new to this, which format should i be recording in? When i go into the sanyo camera page, the 2 default streams are 1200ish by 1000ish in Jpeg. If i add a third stream the resolution choice drops. If i change the top stream to h264 and the top resolution, milestone also seemed to lose connection...any advice would be much appreciated! another thing, a couple of times now, especially after power failures, the camera has failed to start, different one each time...why would this be? i end up having to unplug the poe cable into the switch and put it back in to make it work? Hello, have a couple of IP cams, have Milestone Xprotect go...the free licensed one which records for up to 5 days. recently i had to save something rather important...originally i tried exporting the data from within the program. this got me no where so i chose to copy the 5 day archive...all 80gb of it. Now i have 80gb of .PIC files which nothing will open. How do i go about viewing the files, i have sort of tried substituting them back into the current last 5 days or milestone archive but something isn't right...thanks in advance.

thanks for reply...well...i am planning on upgrading soon, but since the archive is from over 5 days ago, even if i upgrade what chance is there that i can recover the data? i posted on milestone forum, nothing yet...hardly any posts in there at all....i have no idea where to find any sort of program that will help..i have downloaded 2 programs that claim to open .pic files and nothing.....yet i must have certain clips from these days...

thanks for reply.... when i clicked the export button ( wanting to export 3 days) at first it kept crashing (probably as so large) so tried a day, still wouldnt respond..several hours later nothing had changed...thought the only way to save this immediately is to locate the archive / media database folder and copy it exactly to a different hard drive. I managed to do this, so i have 80gb of files sat in the D drive, all in .pic files which are each about 2560kb....thousands of them. each day has its own folder...so yea..the original files are there containing the data..it must be possible? there was no way i could leave the thing trying to export for any longer as i already had lost half a day of the 5 days i wanted..... thanks again!

thank youuu! have contacted them! could you by any chance tell me if it's best to record in h264 or jpeg and if i should even be able to record from the maximum resolution? i think it was you that actually recommended sanyo cameras to me 8 months ago! they do seem pretty good value for money!

Thanks for that. Do sanyo actually have a UK technical support number for cctv? in the box there was never a number or email, so i don't know how i could even return them to them! thanks again.

hello! have recently purchased a Sanyo HD 3500P http://cctv.gg/PDF/sanyo.pdf specs clearly state "Horizontal:(16:9) 34.6 to 102.2° (4:3) 31.7 to 93.0°, Vertical: (16:9) 19.5 to 55.4° (4:3) 23.8 to 68.4°, Diagonal: (16:9) 39.4 to 109.7° (4:3) 39.6 to 118.9°!" i can barely get it up to 90 degrees!....there seems to be NO techincal support number, tried emailing sanyo..NOTHING... http://uk.sanyo.com/AssetBrowser/SSME/Disc%206/cctv/kamera/manual/SANYO_VDC-HD3500P_setup_manual_GB_ALL.pdf if you view that link, page 5 "camera angle" shows what looks like 1, 2 and 3 angles / axis..... "3" on wall mount, doesn't move that way at all....although to make it "diagonal" surely i must move this. i do not wish to break it...i am quite disappointed that for such an expensive camera there seems basically zero support.... any help on what i am doing wrong would be much appreciated! thanks.

ahh, ok, will try that later, thanks! on the diagram it shows the arrows either side of the plastic sort of triangle....yet that was fixed...and i am so worried about breaking it, it said do not move motorised part by hand...! i think it was actually you that linked me to the sanyo 4mp range a few months ago! thanks for that! much better value than axis i think...although...is there actually any technical support hotline for them!? thanks again!

hi sit back and read the instuctions again. have you undone the two lock screws. and also you do know you can turn the lens to get it to go diagonal. monted many sanyos to walls and ceilings. thanks for reply! have read it about 3x and asked a couple of other people! not sure how to turn the lens as that part is motorised..., just how the manual shows it, its as if "number 3" and the 2 arrows are the 3rd axis.....i have totall removed screws.....perhaps it is already getting 120 and i dont think it is....but hmm the manual isn't exactly detailed...:/

Hello everyone! i am trying to choose some cameras for a building, there is zero to little light, i really need to cover 2 sides, so 2x 90 degree cameras, possibly 2 x 120 degree angle lens cameras. I have virtually made my mind up on 5 megapixels over 1.3 (IP cams) but...do i go for a camera with built in IR LEDS's or not...at the moment, unless you all have any other suggestions, it is between these 2 cameras. http://www.x-vision.co.uk/product.php?xProd=445&xSec=248 http://www.axis.com/products/cam_p3344ve/ the axis has no IR LED's built in, yet costs approximately 15% more, then separate IR LEDS will cost another £200....they both have the same compression formats / resolutions / frame rates. The xvision says 30m night vision...and it is from the professional range....any thoughts? thanks in advance

I require a camera / software to automatically log license plates from approximately 40 metres away (40m maximum) (120 feet), day and night, preferably IP based, Axis suggested i purchase the Axis 1344 or 1347 then link it with Milestone software....i have contacted several companies regarding LPR software, none of which have replied yet, possibly because i am more of an end user than an installer.....i do not wish to spend too much on the software, i would like to keep costs down as much as possible, but at the same time i want something that will work.....thanks in advance

sawbones , i currently have an analogue camera, and the day time is no problem at all, just the time it takes to see what vehicles have been in and out, which is the main reason why we require something automatic! mike_va, the guide in that thread was good, although the milestone guide said their software doesnt work with cameras using mpeg compression, i believe axix cameras are h264 and mpeg....it says jpeg only cameras....axis actually told me to contact milestone to start with... wireguys, thanks for the other links on avigilon and ipconfigure! contacted them! tom, thanks again, as for sanyo 400, after typing on google and the sanyo website, i didn't get too far! several with 400 in their name, is this an IP cam? if you guys had a choice of IP vs analogue cameras for anpr, which would you choose, my mind is 99% set on IP? part of what is worrying me is i am 40 metres back from the entrance, ok when they have entered and straightened up it is probably 35m, then the IR lighting..hmmm thanks again

thanks everyone tom, software collection (make a list so at the end of each day we have a record of the cars entering and leaving) and regarding public or private, well, it's a campsite / caravan park, which we own, the land is private / ours, but the public are the people who come here, so what do you suggest / is there a difference in the software / regulations? since i last posted, one company has told me not to go down the route of IP cameras with anpr, as they are not as good as analogue cameras?...i can't see why not? apart from the higher resolution, easier to install / less cabling back to the house, i would have thought it was easier for the software to scan a digital image for a numberplate than an analogue image? thanks again.

"keep the cost down and something that will work" We all wish that Well you will need 2 cameras if your going with Axis. One set for day and the other for night. seriously? can't they switch modes automatically? or is that because the settings must be different? i think the software is more of a problem than the cameras? half of the software seems to be for analogue cameras, the other half is in the thousands of pounds!!
