  1. Hi All, So im replacing my old PTZ, and have the opportunity of buying an Apollo 36x 540TVL Speed Dome (which i understand is an old(ish model) but was expensive at the time, or a Hikvision DS-2AE5164-A 23x Speed Dome understand one is 36x and the other is 23x zoom, both seem to have WDR Hikvision is 700TVL and Apollo is 540TVL Is the more expensive Apollo the one to go for, or the newer Hikvision? Thanks
  2. Hi All, Had an analogue system for 3 or 4 years, its Adata/Qvis stuff, which is OK, but looking at the fantastic pictures obtained from these Ip based systems, i really need to upgrade. Mine looks very poor in comparison. Currently have an 8 cam system, with a Mini PTX 10x Optical (540tvl i think) and a mixture of Bullet and dome cams, all 700tvl with 2.8 - 11mm lens. Looking around, it seems that the Hikvision kit is quite good value for money, so was planning on either a Hikvision 7608 or 7616 (no POE in the box, my network is already POE enabled) Is this an Ok choice of NVR? The cameras are where I'm getting a bit mixed up. Some 1.3 and 2mp cams are just 3.6mm lens. Does lens no longer matter because of the extra information the cameras can capture? For example - in my setup a could of my cams are set around 3.6 capturing larger areas for monitoring, a could are tight in perhaps 9-11mm on points of access (for ID purposes) and a PTX which does what it does. captures a largish area when not being moved, and then can be moved and zoomed at will. Should i try and get dedicated lens types in the cams, so a few 3.6, and a few 6 and so on? Thanks Rich
  3. Hi All, I have an Adata 8 channel DVR, a Mini PTZ camera and a Mini Keyboard. all connected using RS485 (cat5) and using PELCO D protocol - Baudrate 4800. I have run the DVR without the PTZ for a couple of months, and its been rock solid, but as soon as i introduced the PTZ/Keyboard, the DVr occasionally crashes. It happens when using the keyboard to control the camera, and the DVR just locks up and has to be rebooted. I have a cat5 from the keyboard into the DVR, and then from the DVR out to the PTZ. I wanted the keyboard and the DVR to control the PTZ. Any thoughts as to why this crashes occasionally? Thanks
  4. Hi DVR is connected to the network, and although the Keyboard has a CAT5 socket on it, its for a direct connection to a Matrix, its not an actual network (IP Keyboard)
