    smart phone expert?

I just thought of one other thing. While you have the GV server up & running, turn off the webcam, then turn it on, it should prompt you with some settings. In those settings you need to make sure that the webcam & mobile options are setup. I would make sure the Jpg creation is turned on, the 3g items are turned on. I would look at those settings in that section.

    smart phone expert?

I guess for starters, is your phone running WM6.1 standard or professional. I think the main difference is the touch screen. On the Gview2 app it has: IP Port Username password The other thing I would suggest trying is to port forward all the suggested ports, 4550, 5550, 8866, 5511 to your GV server. I dont think your phone has wifi, but if it does, I would try it internally. If you want me to try to log into a camera, I think you can setup a limited access user, then I can see if its a problem with your phone. I have a WM6.1 Sprint Treo Pro. I also have the Gviewv2 software loaded on it, so just let me know.

    smart phone expert?

Hi, I am pretty sure that MS view is for MS Smart phones. I am using / used the Gview_v2. In your program directory, you should have a Gview2 folder. If your running activesync, you should install it in windows, when you sync your phone to your PC, the PC uploads the cab file & installs it for you. The actual file you need to be running is GviewV2.exe. It is an executable that will only run on the windows mobile phone, not in windows. If you need me to email it to you, let me know. I personally hate activesync & prefer using a OTA method of installation. EDIT, maybe the smartphone version is for your phone. Anyway, feel free to post your progress. Thanks, Rich

Has anyone tried Windows 7 with Geovision

I think that must have been the problem I had with a GV800 8.3.1 setup I had a few months back. I had to return the card. I had a Q6600 & it makes sense that its the quad as it ran flawlessly in another system I had. I just bought a I7 intel processor (I think its 4 or 8 core - it shows up as 8 cores in the task manager). Is it a known issue that quad cores & 8.3.1 dont mix? Thanks< Rich
  5. Hi all, I am not sure if you all know about Livevue (http://www.bahamassecurity.com/livevue.asp) but if you have a chance to check it out, its a great app. It takes all the benefits of the webcam, & puts it into a lightweight application that works on standalone PC's. View all your webcams at once (I have 10). Its really nice to have it running in a window on my desktop while I am doing other things. I tried the demo & couldnt get enough of it. I bought it from our very own Rory. Its probably the best piece of CCTV software I have. Just wanted to make sure you dont miss it. Thanks, Rich
  6. Can you run geovision on a 64 bit server using VMware (or something similar) in 32bit mode? I am using windows server 2008 R2 & I would love to keep everything on one server.
  7. Hi, I was curious if Geovision would run on a Windows 2008 server in 32bit mode? Thanks, Rich
  8. Hi, I have someone who might be interested in a geovision system. The goal would be so he could use it on his Iphone (I think there is already an app for it). He would also like to be able to use either of the three Mac's he has in his office to view the cameras as well. Any ideas on how to make this work natively on a Mac? Thanks, Rich
  9. Hi, I seem to be having an issue where if I connect using my Gview v2 software on my WM6 phone it can crash Geovision 8.3 on my GV800. Other times it works fine but most of the time it crashes. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks, Rich
  10. Hi, I am having a hard time figuring out how to make the JPG's stream on the Palm Pre. Any tips would be great! I believe it is a linux based OS. Thanks Rich
  11. Hi, I am fumbling around on my GV800 card & Gview2. I cant get over how much faster it is at streaming than the regular Gview. There are a number of buttons on it. Is there a manual online on how to figure out what it all does? THanks, Rich

    Question about Storage Log?

Hi, Is there a way for me to designate what cameras go into what storage drives? For example, I have my laundry room as one of my cameras (aimed at a door), that data isnt important as say the front door camera. The way it looks is that I may be able to say camera 1 save to drive D & camera 2 save to drive E. Is that how this is supposed to work? Thanks, Rich
  13. Hi, I finally took the plunge & got a GV800 card (legit) that has 8.3. I guess I can be sure my GV900 card wasnt real as this new one has Geo labels all over, a real box, real CD, etc. Anyway, I notice there are new codecs & other goodies. I was curious if there are some basic "no brainers" in terms of obvious settings, that might not be so obvious to me. Thanks, Rich
  14. Hi, I am still using my old GV900 card & 7.04 Geovision with XP Pro. I have been thinking about upgrading to a newer card but I think I want to wait to see how Windows 7 fleshes out and how long it takes Geovision to make it compatible. Anyway, I now have a server with several large drives but I started using NAS enclosures as I think it costs less to run. I still have a bunch of drives in my server but I was thinking it might be nice to get a few more NAS enclosures, & scale the server down to something with a small footprint while putting the drives into a NAS. Will a NAS work OK with Geovision? My network is GB btw. Thanks, Rich
  15. Matt, I am using Geovision 7.02. Which file should I be trying? Thanks, Rich

    no auto login

Rory, Is the idea behind this script to have a single accessable web page that will display all cameras at once? Is this different than your LiveVue? BTW - What happened to your website? THanks, Rich
  17. Stealthvue, Im a little confused as to what the app does. I have a windows mobile Treo & I just use the Gview application. Does this allow a working method for the webpage java view on a mobile device? Pocket IE also hangs at that page. How can I tell what version of the webserver software I am using? THanks, Rich
  18. Hi, I would like to make a user for my Geovision system that allows access for cameras 1-6 24/7 & cameras 7-9 only from 6pm-8am. Is that possible to do? Is it possible to force that user an error during those times (like video lost, or something like that)? Thanks, Rich

Setting up a user where cameras work on a schedule?

I am more looking to make it so that between 10am-4pm that camera #9 doesnt show video on one account.

Hi, If i have a GV900 that is working well, what would the appropriate upgrade card be? PCI or PCI X? Thanks, Rich

    Remote View Host ????

This might be a little overkill & possibly backwards thinking but... If you use logmein.com (a vpn type service) that works pretty much everywhere.

Geovision on a Blackberry world edition

Does anyone know if Gview V1 works any better or worse than Gview V2? i have V1 & while it works, it seems to refresh every 2-3 seconds. Its more of a slideshow than streaming video. I have both Wifi & EvDo Rev A & its pokey. Thanks, Rich

G View and Windows Mobile Pro 6.1

Im using the older Gview (7.05) on a Treo 800w wm6.1. It works just fine. Can you try that app?
  24. Hi, I tried to upload a geovision AVI file of my mother backing into and knocking over my basketball net in my driveway. Its a pretty funny video http://www.zx-10r.net/jenn/mom.avi But of course, I cant actually post it on youtube for all my family to snicker at. How can I make this a more friendly video sharing experience? Thanks, Rich
  25. Hi, I am going to be upgrading my server soon. The 3.2 Northwood chip is showing its age & now that my Geovision/HomeSeer system (home automation)/File Server are on the same box, I am seeing that the server is running slower quite often. With the intel price cut on the 22nd of july, it makes the quad core under $250 Q6600 vs a higher clocking C2D in the same price range. Is there any benefit for Geovision with a quad core vs a core 2 duo? Thanks, Rich
