I need a replacement fuse for a 4 cam napco power supply. The manual says it used a 1.0A/250 VAC. I believe this is a blade-type automotive fuse. Where can I pick up a few of these? If I can't find 1amp, can I use something similar? I searched the net but found nothing in 1amp. I was told to try an auto parts store. What do you think?

How are you injecting the CCTV feed for all household tv's?
fas posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
In the old days of analog video I used to block out a group of channels and inject the cctv feed onto them and you where able to view the cctv feed from any tv in the house. Now that we are in the age of digital, how are you accomplishing this task? Can it still be done via the same single cable feeding the tv's with cable programming, or is a separate cable feed necessary just for the cctv feed? Thanks. -
Need Help with Fuse for Napco Power Supply
fas replied to fas's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yes, it is plastic and probably an automotive type. I can't seem to find them anywhere. I have seen ones rated at 32vac, but not at 250vac. Can I use one rated at only 32vac even though the specs say it should be rated at 250vac? This is the worst panel I have ever used. If you can't get a replacement fuse, what good is it? -
I have a small 4 cam job and I will be using the Platinum power box named in the subject line. I have never used this box before. I am using Nuvico 12v bullet cams. This box has variable dc power from 5 to 15 volts. I do not have a voltage meter. Does anyone know what this box is set to at the factory? I need 12 volts. My voltage meter is horrible. I can't tell if it's 12 or 15 volts coming through. I don't want to burn up the cameras. Also, any suggestions on a cheap voltage meter that actually works? Thanks.

pick up a voltage meter and checked it... 12.68 volts. Good enough? -
Platinum Power NP-4CC615DCUL and Voltage

Yes, that's the one. There is a trim pot, but I never used one. I'm guessing you just turn it clockwise/counterclockwise and adjust the voltage. I will prob just get something at radioshack for now, but I was just wondering if that unit comes set at 12v from the factory. -
You are 100% right. Do the job right the first time. I'm going back to get the correct fittings.

I picked up a few "round" reddot outdoor boxes with weatherproof covers from home depot. The covers are not super solid, but they will be fine once I bolt the camera to them and attach nuts on the inside to hold better. I also picked up some waterproof romex connectors, but I forgot I had to fit the bnc throught them, so I have to get the ones with a larger rubber diameter so it will fit. I was thinking, what if I just ran the cable through the hole, and then plugged it with the putty electricians use on outdoor meters and services? I have used that before to plug up the bottom of outdoor volume controls, and it works pretty well. Just wondering if anyone ever tried that method?

I think I lost you. Are you talking about the screws to mount the cover plate to the box, or the screws to mount the camera to the cover plate? You did give me an idea.. why not pre drill 3 holes into the cover plate and use machine screws to attach the camera to the cover plate, and on the inside use nuts to secure the screws? Would that be stonger than using self tapping screws only, or is that overkill? Also, I am going to pick up the screw in weatherproof romex connectors and feed the camera cable into the box that way.

It's the nuvico w27ir30n, so it is smaller than the one you mentioned, Rory. It is not that heavy, so I think I will be ok screwing it to the cover plate, and I will use the side hole to pass the cable through. I believe that make a ruberized pass through screw in type device, and then I will also silicone that. I don't have an option of mounting a box inside, so any other suggestions are welcome.

I have a cpcam 505hc dvr. I am trying to schedule motion recording mon-fri from 10pm to 6am, and saturday from 5pm to monday morning at 6am. Since days overlap, what is the best way to do this? Options include mon-fri, sat, sun, daily, or each day individually. Since times go on to next day, and sunday is all day, how do most of you do this? Thanks.
-
I would also have to do tues, wed thurs, and fri 00:00 to 6:00 as well, right? i hope I have enough spaces
-
Now I'm totally confused. If I choose mon-fri, and choose 10pm to 6am, does the dvr know to start on monday at 10pm and end on TUESDAY at 6am? My schedule overlaps 2 days. I see what you are doing on sat and sun, but what about mon-fri now? Will what I suggested above work?

Installing Seagate OEM 500gb IDE HD in CPcam DVR
fas replied to fas's topic in Digital Video Recorders
DVR arrives Monday so no manual yet. I justed wanted to make sure I didn't need to format. Since it's an OEM drive and not retail, does this make any difference? -
When you back this unit up to a cd, if you want to watch it on a pc, do you need special software, or will it play in whatever media player you have? Thanks.

The cameras I am interested in come with a 4mm lens standard, but can be upgraded to a 4~9mm lens. Most cameras have a 3.5mm lens. How much wider of a view will a 9mm lens give, and does this mean the camera angle can be changed by turing the lens? Thanks.
-
There are so many different cameras out there. Just make sure if you don't have a lot of light at night to get a camera with good ir technology so that you can "see" in the dark. A nice bullet day/night ir camera will suit your needs very well. I am partial to the Nuvico line, but like I said, there are so many good cameras. A lot of members of the forum sell what you are looking for, so maybe they will chime in and point you in the right direction.

I am trying to make an unattended windows disk that will auto partition the hard drive into two partions of unequal sizes. I did a little research and it seems that BartPE is the way to accomplish this. BartPE is a windows environment, kind of like dos, but much better, from what I read. If anyone knows how to set this up, I would appreciate it. It seems like it would be pretty simple, but I don't know much about it. Thanks.

thomas, I have an unattended install all set up, but I want to be able to auto reformat the drive into 2 partitions, one for the operating system and files and the other for a ghost image. I also want to be able to auto install ghost so that I can make a drive image when I am done tweaking. I know there is a website for bartpe, but it is still confusing. I'll have to sit down one day and try different things until I get it. It seems like a really good way to format the drives during an unattended install.

Thanks for the pics monster.

ok, now I'm confused. I want the view from the cameras to be a wide angle. In that case, do I need a 4-9mm variable lens, or just the 4mm lens? I only need the 4mm lens, right? 9mm would give me a more narrow view, correct? Are there any examples on the net of what different mm lenses look like in actual pictures? I have found a few that show frames per second on video, but I have never found examples of what the picture looks like with various size lenses.

I am looking for a good b/w motion detector camera. The motion detector does not have to be functional. I have seen a few, but they look like you can tell they have a camera in them by looking at the small hole in the housing, and they also look like they would only be able to see in one direction, and not look down or see a whole room. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks.

I am looking for a nice looking color wall clock camera for an office where money is being stolen. I have seen some on the net, but most only seem to have 380 tv lines, which I don't think is enough, but those more experienced than me may know better. It must be 12 volts and have a bnc connection. The picture must be able to recognize faces. I do not think the customer needs ir as lights will be on, however, if he does need ir, do they make such a camera? Thanks for the help.

My friend has a yard with 2 ir cameras enclosed in cases that are heated. He wants me to add a third camera. Is it necessary to use an enclosed camera, or can I get away with a good bullet camera with ir? He is in the north east where temps can get to zero with the wind chill. I have used bullet cameras before in this environment with no problem. What do you think? Thanks.

I would love to go with a smoke detector because I have used them before, but the customer is set on a clock. I will see what I can do. Thanks.
