We have had HDD issues on nearly every system we've built over the last 3 years (over 100). we started using Seagate SV35 drives 2 years ago, this didn't help.
Our most common system is: WinXp (pro or home) SP3, Intel DG41RQ MOBO, Intel E5300 Dual Core @ 2.6GHz, Intel G41 Chipset, Nvidia 8400GS 512K GPU, Seagate Baracuda System drive, Seagate SV35 video storage drive, 2GB DDR2 RAM.
This issue seems to happen on every model of GV card. It starts with needing chkdsk to run, then system and NTFS errors in the event log, then BSOD and dead drives.
Multicam runs for a few minutes, shuts down, restarts in 40 seconds or so, and keeps shutting down and restarting. Weak signal watch dog is disabled. I upgraded from 8.33 to 8.4 with no change. Geovision tech support was no help (as usual).
GV-800, V8.4, GV-Net card.
Existing install. Worked fine for 2 years. Now PTZs won't tour on schedule. They work manually and work if set to just tour on "Multi Position Tour" but not if set to the "Tour Schedule."
We have seen this on several systems we built, GeoVision said it was the hardware we were using. Seagate SV35 drives. MTBF of One Million hours +. GV cards apparently turn these drives into garbage prettty quickly, followed by blue screens.
But then we saw the freezing on a system that we bought from Geovision, built by Geovision. They still say they have never seen it happen.
After working with GV products for over 3 years, my opionion is that they just plain suck.
