Hi Phil, Can you first make sure what is the model of your dvr? is there any silver label on the back of dvr? Once you are sure about the model you can try to force upgrade of firmware by manual resetting the dvr. When you will write me the full name of model i will give you. This operation not always will be working, it depends of the damage the dvr received. In the worst case you will need to send to repair. Leo

Try to deactivate the Antivirus, and to low the protection of the computer. Mostly playback is not working for that reason. Leo

Not all the dvrs can work with chrome or firefox, it depends of the model and firmware version. I like very much Linux (i've last version of Ubuntu), mostly i use Firefox to access to AVTECH dvr's, but i noticed that even Chromium is working too. The DVR of the link is a KPD674ZA......the firmware is not the last one, but it's better to don't upgrade (unless it's really needed). Leo

I also have Avast antivirus in my computer (but i have windows XP). I know that using Mozilla firefox in Win7, there is no problem with the playback even when Antivirus is active, you should have to try it. Remember also to upgrade the dvr to the latest version first. Leo

Hi Allen, Unfortunally the release notes for the firmwares (as well as the firmwares files) are not published in the web, only people that work in Avtech can access to them. Since the firmwares are really really many, it's almost impossible to publish all of them on the web. About the mail notification, it should be good if the dvr can send a small video or image by mail, but for the moment this function is supported only by IP cameras. To don't lose the videos in case the dvr is stolen, you can install the program videoviewer in your PC, and configure it to record in case of motion detection or alarm (even manual record is ok too). Hi Allen, Many things can cause this problem: Did you try to playback using Mozilla firefox in your win 7 computer? Also can try to deactivate the antivirus and firewall to see if playback is working even with internet explorer. When you connect with the old PC with XP, do you use the same internet connection than the PC with win7? (just in case your line block the streaming of playback). Is the HDD recognized by the dvr and working well? Email notifications of dvr, don't send any video, just a link to connect to DVR, make sure the HDD is working well, deactivate antivirus and firewall, check PC and DVR internet connection is active. In case it's still not working, try to delete the files in blue (they will be reinstalled when you connect to dvr next time) AVC_AP_H264, AVC_AP_JPEG, AVC_AP_MPEG4, AVC_AP_SCALE. Hi Fisyyma, What is the model of Sony speed dome you want to connect? Does it has also Pelco-P protocol? I noticed that some cameras are working only with one of these 2 protocols. How do you connect the camera to the DVR? Are RS485 wires connected to PIN 8 and 9? I think that buy a Joystick is not always the best solution, joystick needs to be compatible with both PTZ camera and dvr........and some of the commands probably will not match. Leo

In this case, the problem maybe is in your router. Probably it blocks the email. If you have the opportunity, should have to try the dvr with a different internet connection. What about the old dvr? did you throw away? The firmware was right (unless your dvr is a B version) but probably you didn't do the upgrade correctly. Maybe it was still possible to fix it. Leo

I notice that when using windows 7, some antivirus will block the streaming of the playback, when you deactivate the antivirus everything become ok. Sometimes is not working because the dvr needs to be upgraded (in this case it would't work in some web browser). Sometimes need to enter "system32" folder in windows and delete files that start with AVC_AX (only AX not all the AVC), to help the system reinstall the new ones. There are also other ways to solve the problems, need to check case by case. Hope this infos can help you Leo

If you have firefox browser and download: "Plugin Iced-tea Java" "VLC" (so you can choose the option VLC in the Format) You will be able to see the video of your camera in Linux.... I suppose that even now you can login to your device.....just cannot see any video, quicktime cannot be installed in Linux....so you can use VLC. Otherwise Iced-tea Java will allow you to see the video in H264, MPEG4 ecc.... before the changes have effect, you should reboot the computer and install all the automatic upgrades. Leo

You already have the answer: MDR-757B 8ch and MDR759B 16ch don't support live audio, so you cannot hear from remote access. This function can be added with a new firmware, but the company still have to release it. Leo
