  1. Oh? It asked for a server so I presumed that meant its 4200. I'll proceed further with the install, thanks.
  2. Has anyone been able to get Event save to FTP working? I have the server set up in Network, and have checked Save to FTP in Basic and Smart Events, but I get diddly on the server. Test works, and saves a test file to the FTP. Events are saved just fine to the internal SD card. I believe I remember buelwinkle saying it can save to both places. Hints? Is it busted? Firmware 5.2.5, English, direct from a Chinese supplier.

    Car Cam

At least once a year, over here in the Colonies. And we get shot over here by the po-po.
  4. I just don't know what to believe after researching this. This camera will be for a parking lot, so resolution is important, to try and make out license plates. And yet I need excellent low-light performance, but I read that the smaller the pixel, the less light it can gather. I was aiming for 5Mp, but with the low-light info I've been looking at the Axis p3346v (3Mp), but I seem to remember that Axis' low-light is not good at all. Also I read that jpeg2000 has much less loss and is clearer than H.264 or MP4 with zoom, so ideally I'd like jpeg2000, but maybe I can't have everything? It doesn't have to be a current camera, but quality and low-light performance are very important. Of course assuming a pro install. Suggestions? Has anyone seen how the Arecont AV3135 performs? The D4SO-AV5115v1-3312?
  5. Valuable info, thanks. buellwinkle why that huge camera rather than the NDN-733V0? or NIN-733-V0? ? (Although I think the latter is indoor) Ok higher rez and awesome DR, but any other reason? A dome seems more discreet. (Stupid forum just banned my IP thinking I'm a spammer. Well there are ways around that)
  6. Nice. But LPR isn't the primary mission. First I've got to get blanket high-rez coverage, and the Arecont 12MP and Bosch 5MP sound promising.
  7. Thanks. Is lighting up the area preferable to a good low-light camera? Any other cameras I should consider for low light?
  8. It's about 60' deep and across a 2 lane street. I doubt ir illuminators would do it.

    High end cams for vehicle?

I thought of that, but I use the phone for nav. (TomTom) Also if you leave it in the car on the dash you'll have a smash-N-grab quicker than you can say lickity-split.
  10. noob247, I just get a blank frame where your webcam shot should be in Firefox, and in Konqueror it comes up with the error: "Scanstyles does nothing in Webkit/Firefox/Opera".

    High end cams for vehicle?

Trust me, that's what all the forward-thinking people want. Has to have battery monitoring, or at least come on with ignition, and boot quickly. Have bluetooth to feed/transfer video to phone when needed. For ease of install, the consensus seems to be the FineVue. BTW buellwinkle, in your blog about ZoneMinder, all the pictures are missing.
  12. It does not look like the Intel X5680 has a built-in GPU like the i5 and i7 have. I don't know about Winduhs, but in Linux we install the VA-API driver and get hardware video decoding on i5 and i7. If there's also an nVidia card installed we install Bumblebee and get Optimus support.
  13. Hm, Luxriot does not run on Linux.
  14. Actually, comparing the prices I've seen for Axis, Avigilon is > $200 cheaper if you DIY. And Avigilon is ONVIF, so any compatible software will work, including Exacq.
  15. voip-ninja, resolution is resolution, and you never know when you'll need it. If you don't have it, you don't have it. With the right camera you sacrifice nothing in low light. Sure alot of guys say why 5Mp when your TV is only 1080p; well, for digital zoom of course. Hitch I just don't understand going with Axis when Avigilon is cheaper. If you want PM me, and I'll direct you.
  16. Yikes, they are way too proud of that.
  17. I -never- got more than 4 ips full-rez with the Mobotix M12, running their software on a Linux server. Their support assured me that this is the best it can do, which does not cut it.

    PAL ot NTSC

I would always install a PeeCee. My backups server also handles the cameras; it is in a small cube case and has a 10TB BTRFS array. It's in the far end of the attic, in case of fire or theft. And it has a SuperMicro mobo which has IPMI, vital for remote management.
  19. Is it possible to change the key frame interval on the 5.0-H3-DO1? To maybe 2 seconds? Wouldn't it be better to have an external IR illuminator, rather than buy the 5.0-H3-DO1-IR, if the operative distance is up to 100'?
  20. Looking at buying Avigilon 5Mp for an office building we just bought. Need to cover a parking lot across the street, which is wide and shallow. Looks like the 5Mp bullet is a candidate. But it's not clear whether the other two 5Mps Avigilon makes (box and dome) are suitable for outdoors. Anyone know? Is the mini-dome outdoors? Why don't they say one way or the other? Ideally we would have a wider field of view, like 100 degrees or more. Is this possible? Looks like the bullet has only an max of 84. Also has anyone used Avigilon cameras with Exacq? We will be running Linux servers, and it looks like Exacq is our only choice. I'm wondering what features will be missing, compared with Avigilon's offering. I contacted Avigilon and they connected me with my local distro, be he says he sells only if he does the install. Well my low-voltage guy will be doing the install. If anyone can hook me up with cameras please PM. wireguys never got back to me with answers nor a quote.

    Avigilon + Exacq

    Anyone carry Avigilon?
  22. We run Linux servers, and so about the only DVR software will be Exacq. I've always thought highly of Avigilon, as night-time performance is key, but they have not been an option until now. I've just gotten off the phone with Tech Support and he tells me that any Avigilon camera with an h3 or h264 in the model#, supports onvif profile S. And as of v5.4 Exacq does as well. So has anyone tried this combination? Do all Avigilon features work, including motion-sensing and low-light?
  23. Can you get a refund? The Sanyo HD3300 is far better. There is no way around the fact that it's a technical process. I'm sure funds are tight, so you might look for a free-lance installer on Craigslist. Sounds like this is either in a bad neighborhood, or you've got some Nazis over there.
