  1. I believe it's called a "Reset to factory settings" in the browser interface, although I can't check it as I've now sent the camera to Mobotix for eval. Seller has agreed to pay repairs up to $150, and otherwise give a refund. I am grateful for his understanding. Rory there are {redacted}. I don't have time to {redacted}, and I don't like being limited in what I can do by DRM and encryption limitations. Besides, all my software is free, open, and vetted by some of the best minds in the world. bpzle is right though, it does take an IQ north of 140 to really use Linux; he knows... he's tried. And as to theproud thewireguys, in the three weeks I've struggled with this I've risen to a proficiency level with these cameras that it's taken him years to reach. I mastered the web interface which complexity has caused many others to sell this camera, and I've reached into Linux internals such as {redacted} in an effort to make it work. I have responded comprehensively and forthrightly to those honestly trying to help. But those seeking to expose my flaws, ridicule or undercut a layman's efforts to succeed --out of a commercial/mercenary objective-- are corrupt in my opinion. Nuff said.
  2. Rory, if you only knew... Biting my tongue No, go ahead and say it. I'd like to hear how this is defensible, rather than just petulance. I have now thrown away a great deal of my valuable time on something that is supposed to work out of the box. How am I not to be indignant?
  3. Yeah, Microsoft is the only way to go, isn't it Sheep. No, we are in a business where security of data is paramount, and Microsoft products are not an option. You are oblivious. This product is held out as working well on Linux, and it does not.What would you suppose I should have thought?
  4. Someone has clarified for me that {redacted} I actually downloaded {redacted} And I actually bought a disk drive to install Windows on the backup server, but when I boot the CD to install (same CD as on the workstation), when it goes to boot Windows {redacted} Not buying or running Windows permanently.
  5. Already asked about exposure. My response is on the first page, about 5th down. When I first started I did a factory reset, and framerate hasn't improved since, except slightly when I changed to MxPEG.
  6. It is in effect recording to {redacted} Hadn't thought of {redacted} We have run Linux for 14 years for security reasons, and have never never had a problem like this. See, the problem seems to be {redacted} We've proven that {redacted} WTH? Laughable. Is this the '60's? And then there's this thing called 'budgeting your time'. Maybe some people have lots of time for games, but I am a real estate developer, and have far more important things to do than fsck with an expensive camera for three weeks which is supposed to have all the answers down. I have to actually make a living!
  7. Well, on {redacted} I'm not using {redacted} I think I'm going to shelve the idea of security cameras for a while. I've just thrown away three weeks on this project.
  8. Haven't tried {redacted} I used {redacted}
  9. Can't use MxCC, as {redacted} Good to know though that there doesn't seem to be {redacted} Tried to look at your camera, but {redacted} When I check {redacted} I am losing hope for this brand. Sure glad I ran these tests before I made a major commitment.
  10. Don't worry wireguys, I didn't buy it from you. bpzle I have been working with them, and in turn with Mobotix. I've requested an RMA. Long story, but {redacted} I have to suspect: a. {redacted} The line between the camera and backup server {redacted} The workstation is connected {redacted} So takeaway is, I am doing New Science here, and there are no real tools or expertise to help. {redacted}? I don't know, and no one else seems to.
  11. OK. I accept that. So as I say, my hope now is that {redacted} Something's freeping wrong. Anyone know?
  12. {redacted} For some reason {redacted} I know that {redacted}? I can run either {redacted}
  13. {redacted} Thanks Voipmodo. This is a {redacted}
  14. As I say I am not here to bicker, no matter how baited.
  15. All right, I'm not here to bicker. No, I don't have vast experience with other apps, but I am a new user and find MxEasy easy and effective for me. That's all I need to know, and maybe it will help others. You can duke it out with yourself in the kitchen... this is too stupid for me. (BTW, it's annoying when someone repeatedly confuses 'there' with 'their'. Gives the wrong impression of your education)
  16. Eh, MxEasy is easy and fast. Quick to set up and configure and intuitive to use. Shouldn't ever have to search weeks of video, if you're keeping up with things. Unlike traditional security systems, Mobotix has a decentralized approach to video surveillance. The cameras incorporate a high-speed computer and internal flash to enable all recording and storage to occur within the camera, reducing the need for a separate PC or DVR. Furthermore, all data is processed within the camera to lower network bandwidth, which maximizes robust features such as virtual PTZ and 360-degree hemispheric technology with panoramic view. All this on three frickin' watts, and no fan, heater, or iris ever needed. I have mine set up so it stores directly to my backup server, and the server forwards video streams to other machines where they are viewed, so the backup server is just an Atom with terabytes of storage.
  17. You are very competent dude, but both of these statements are false. I haven't tried Mobotix's ControlCenter, but MxEasy is just that. And Mobotix is megapixel from the ground up.
  18. Actually MxPEG is also pretty revolutionary. Only changes in the scene are transported. And all of Mobotix's software is free, even the most capable; this effectively reduces the price of the camera considerably. Also their software runs on osx and linux!
