One door Access Control Recommendation
NexusSolutions replied to xodid2's topic in General Access Control Discussion
your forced open event is a result of the system not seeing proper credential prior to being opened from the exterior (ie. forced open) or your RTE and PTE are not triggering the ACU to notify it that someone is exiting the building prior to the ACU seeing your contact open. I would say that the audible coming off of your reader is a result of the force open. -
Trying to identify this access control system
NexusSolutions replied to snoles's topic in General Access Control Discussion
That looks like a Honeywell ProWatch System to me. Do you know what the software is that is running it? -
I have only been in the low voltage industry for nine years, and in thosenine years a lot has changed. In a recent discussion with one of my techs I realized justhow much is taken for granted now and it got me thinking back years ago when I had started. Remember when: Dome cameras didn't ship assembled? You had to assemble the camera into the dome and the lens on the camera... Having to manually focus cameras. (Even todays auto focus takes some tweaking but it is a big step) Carrying a three ring binder with installation manual for the DVR you were working on. Not having a cell to call tech support or customers (or just adequate coverage) There is a long list to the "remember when" I would be interested in reading some of yours.

Anyone used Brivo or have thoughts on them?
NexusSolutions replied to Razer_SE's topic in General Access Control Discussion
done several panel installations with brivo systems over multiple facilities... we are not a dealer we were a subcontractor... with that being said from a physical installation it is just like any other (outdated) access control panel and what i mean by that is large clunky panels that accomodate two doors per board with multiple inputs and relays... each panel takes up some significant real estate in the IT closet... and that is still before mounting your power supply for your lock hardware... so the wiring is like traditional access control... programming and end user usability is where i think brivo shines... programming and operating is extremely easy and end users agree on its ease of use... -
Has anyone had any experience with Biometric (fingerprint) readers in an access control application? We have a request from a customer to provide four locations with fingerprint credentials. I have been looking at Suprema and would like to know if anyone has used their product. We would only be using their outdoor mifare biometric reader along with our infinias software and eidc. Or have you had any success with any other weigand product?

Residential install question for hiding/running cables.
NexusSolutions replied to cavcom's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am a firm believer in the only conduit on a house should be the 24" - 36" of stub for a phone/coax demarc... when it comes to everything else it seems like wires can always be fished, may not be easy but it can be done... I know I wouldn't want a stick of pipe running up my wall so I would never put it on someones house... it seems as though "high end homes" and "conduit" don't go together... just my opinion though... -
Avigilon 5MP H.264 samples
NexusSolutions replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have tried to post the 5MP full body and the 5MP dome but cannot... not smart enough to figure out how to make the file size smaller to be under the 250 KiB limit... -
What is it? Avigilon? Exacq? looks like :/
NexusSolutions replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Are you saying the Avigilon or Clearpix solutions has a higher price tag? -
What is it? Avigilon? Exacq? looks like :/
NexusSolutions replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We use their product on every install. They have great equipment (as you have seen) great sales team and a great support team. I would recommend clearpix to anybody. Tell them Nexus sent you. -
Buying Servers or Building?
NexusSolutions posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am curious to see how many companies are building their Surveillance Servers as opposed to buying from a distributor or manufacturer. -
Avigilon H.264 Cameras
NexusSolutions replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thank you for that correction. You are right it is not the entire camera line. Avigilons manufacturing background is quite impressive and why they got into Surveillance is a great story as well... Bottom line they are a great company with a great product... Anyone who gets dealership with them has a great opportunity to provide possibly the best surveillance solution... -
Avigilon H.264 Cameras
NexusSolutions replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't know if Avigilon manufacturers their H.264 line themselves or not but I do know of another company that has the same cameras as Avigilon... They have the entire Avigilon product line but without the dealership agreements and having to meet quotas... -
Avigilon Software
NexusSolutions replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It's great software... powerful and most importantly easy for the customer to use... They are a great company as well with a solid product... down side is having to meet sales quotas... as for pricing I see them to be competitive with a lot of other manufacturers out there... They have recently sold their product to another manufacturer for sale as well...
