    QVIS APOLLOPRO-16

The above model was purchased many years ago so I realise this is a long shot. I've set this unit up for a neighbour. It was working fine when I used it about a year ago and had been running perfectly for many years. However it now refuses to save the configured settings after reboot. Everytime the unit is rebooted it returns to defaults. Although not necessary for saving the settings, I replaced the onboard clock battery just in case but no luck. I would like to flash the firmware but I cannot find any firmware anywhere for this unit as it's so old. I'm not sure what model of Dahua this actually was as it was rebranded under QVIS. Can anyone help with a suitable firmware file or suggest anything else I can try to fix this issue? Have attached flyer for the model in question. I-APOPRODC_V1.pdf
  2. Hi All, I'm looking to install a video door entry system in a new build. I want a camera and call panel at the front door which can be integrated into a whole house video system. An IP based system would be ideal. I've had a look at the Mobotix T24 system which looks good and is IP based which allows answering via any IP enabled phone station. I also want something which is expandable in future to allow control of gates with another video module. Any recommendations much appreciated.
  3. Hi All, I've just attached a mic to my Dahua DVR (iApollo Pro branded by QVIS). I've enabled the audio but am having issues with hearing the sound. I've only been able to test it on my iPad through the app. I can just about hear sounds from the mic but it is extremely quiet. I'm testing the mic before placing in its final location so the sound should be loud and clear. Anyone have any hints on increasing the sensitivity of the mic or adjusting the volume? Also should you get sound payback on recordings as well when played back through PSS software? Many Thanks.

    Interesting Dahua DVR developments

I would also like to know if there's a list of commands which can be sent via telnet to the DVR. I would like the ability to change the display output so you can show the different views output to the HDMI interface. This should be a straight forward command set. Any pointers appreciated.
  5. Hi all, I've had nine Concept Pro (CNB) analogue cameras installed for about four years (VVP9324DNIR). They have been excellent but I'm having a couple of issues. One camera is now showing an almost black screen at night. Having checked the IR LEDs these seem to be working ok. It looks like the camera is failing to switch to black and white and is staying in day mode. It is working ok during the day but not at night. The camera has a five year warranty so I can return it but wanted to check if there was anything I can do first to fix the problem? Second issue is a problem with two of the cameras during the day (the one mentioned above being one of them). When the sun is shining on the camera the picture is completely obscured due to being far too bright. I hadn't noticed this last year but it seems really bad this year. I haven't tried adjusting any settings yet but wonder if this is normal when cameras get direct sunlight and whether there is anything I can do to ease/solve the problem. Thanks for any help.

Problems with Concept Pro (CNB) Cameras

Very useful info. Many thanks. That might explain the problem. I'll investigate to see if mine have the same chipset. Thanks.

Problems with Concept Pro (CNB) Cameras

Think you're mixing up the camera model. These cameras where £160 each plus VAT (currently 20%) here in the UK. Equivalent in dollars would be around $320! So in that case yes I would expect them to honour a five year guarantee and I would expect cameras of this quality to last in excess of five years - all mine are just over four years old.

Problems with Concept Pro (CNB) Cameras

Thanks for reply. Yes that's true but these cameras are supposed to have a five year guarantee so I'm hoping they might be covered under this. I've just replaced one with a new Concept Pro and the difference is startling especially at night. Will see what the supplier says regarding the guarantee.
  9. Hi all, Posted this in the video surveillance forum but got no response. Thought I'd try here I've had nine Concept Pro (CNB) analogue cameras installed for about four years (VVP9324DNIR). Problems with Concept Pro (CNB) Cameras

Anyone any advice on this? Have tried adjusting settings but the camera is not switching to night mode and is not adjusting to bright sunlight.
  11. Hi All, I'm looking to control my DVR directly over the Ethernet interface using a universal control app on an iPad. The app allows you to control any device by utilisng direct IP commands. I already have the iPad app to view and playback but this is not what I want to do. I want to have control of the DVR front panel by using direct commands sent via the network. I know there is a facility for doing this via a PC and I assume this is using IP to send the commands needed. Does anyone know what the command protocols are for direct IP control of a Dahua DVR? I know I could use IR via a universal blaster but using IP would be much better. Thanks.

Direct IP Control on Dahua DVR

There is a major flaw with IR on my system. I have an IR pass through system which allows IR control of the DVR from another room. However the Dahua reacts to other IR remotes I have for a PVR and an AV receiver. That means if I send a signal to my amp or pvr things change on the DVR! Not ideal. Manufacturs aware but no fix as yet. Only workaround I have found is to change the remote ID to one different to that set on the DVR and only enable it again when control of DVR required. That's why I'm looking for an alternative control method.

Direct IP Control on Dahua DVR

So Dahua don't produce a code set for RS232 comms? Makes finding the correct codes a little tricky! I know it's possible using a packet sniffer but its a bit of a chore. Considering that the keyboards can communicate with the DVR using RS232 its a pity Dahua don't release the command protocols.

Direct IP Control on Dahua DVR

After doing a little more investigation I think the best method would be using RS232. However I need a list of the RS232 codes to control the DVR. I know this port is usually used for a keyboard but I want to send the codes direct for control. Anyone have a list of RS232 codes?

Direct IP Control on Dahua DVR

Control of the DVR from an iPad. Instead of using the IR which is line of sight I want to be able to change the screen display wherever I am in the house. The DVR is in a control room with other equipment but the output is piped to all TVs in the house. Therefore it would be useful to control it from any room so I can change screen display, playback etc.

Help with Mic on Dahua DVR

Further to the above. The DVR has four BNC inputs for audio on channels 1-4. Audio input for the other channels is via DB25 input. Can anyone help with a suitable connecting cable for this? Ideally it would be good to have a DB25 to phono connection to connect the mic or mics to the relevant channels. There's no info from Dahua that I can find which shows the pin designations for this connector. Thanks for any pointers.

    Internal PTZ with IR

It depends if the camera is IP or analogue. If analogue will be connected to a Dahua DVR. Already have one external PTZ running on that and control is a breeze. If its IP I'll be using a Synology NAS with built in surveillance station. Again used this before and has been faultless. Have found a couple of candidates namely: SK-V207IR/Z946 (available from RF Concepts). However it's not the smallest. Other one I've looked at is: http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=13028 However again not an ideal form factor. Also looked at this one but not sure about quality: http://www.cctvdiscover.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=115:je-9604ir&catid=61:mini-ptz-camera&Itemid=87

    Internal PTZ with IR

Hi All, I'm looking for a good quality internal PTZ camera with IR illumination for night viewing. The camera can be either analogue or IP as I can cater for both types. However I want to keep the form factor small with a recessed dome if possible housing the bulk of the camera in the ceiling void. The camera is to cover a small control room about 5m x 7m in size. I've looked at having fixed domes but only want to mount a single camera but have the ability to pan and tilt around the room. Having multiple fixed cameras is not an option. Thanks for any recommendation as I'm struggling to find suitable candidates.

Help with Mic on Dahua DVR

Have succeeded in getting it working.... schoolboy error on my part! The audio inputs on the back of my unit are not labelled so I assumed they were numbered left to right. However they are actually numbered from right to left 1 - 4. Anyway I was listening to the wrong output!! Thanks for the replies guys

Help with Mic on Dahua DVR

Thanks for the replies. The mic is an amplified one and is designed for CCTV. I've been through all the menus on the DVR but can't find any volume control for the audio. I have enabled audio on the stream the mic is connected to i.e. channel 1. as mentioned I can hear the sound via the iPad app but it's very quiet. I'll have another dig round in the menus and see if I've missed anything. So far haven't managed to hear anything on playback although I've enabled audio recording on the relevant stream..... I think
  21. Thanks for the reply. I've tried changing it to 0 with no success. I'll try and a few more and see what happens.
  22. Hi All, My Dahua DVR is in with other equipment and I've discovered that the IR code sent out for another device is controlling the Dahua and switching screens. I know each Dahua has an identifier (mine currently set to 8 ) and the remote must also be programmed with that identifier. If I change the device identifier and then change the remote, will this alter the IR codes within the Dahua DVR? If not, any other suggestions for stopping the Dahua responding to another devices remote control?
  23. Hi All, I have recently installed a 16CH i-Apollo PRO DC DVR. This is a Dahua DVR branded in the UK by Adata. Anyway the setup went well and I have access both within the LAN and via the WAN. I've downloaded both the iPad and iPhone app (iApollo Pro) and these are working well for realtime viewing. My problem however is playback via the iPad or iPhone. If I select playback mode and enter a time range it comes back with no footage and on the iPad displays 'Search Failed!'. iPhone is similar but think the message is 'No Record'. Playback works fine on PSS. Anyone any advice on why it's not working on the iOS devices through the apps? I've tried both locally and remotely with the same result. Thanks for any pointers.

Playback of Dahua DVR on iPad/iPhone

Thanks for the replies everyone. Enabling the extra stream to record has worked. Agree though it would be better to be able to view the main stream but at least I've got playback now. Many thanks.
  25. I know this is probably asked on a regular basis but am looking for some advice on replacing my 8CH DVR for a 16CH. Currently have an Averdigi Nano EH1004-8. I have all analogue cameras but had previously planned on having some IP units. This has now changed and all cameras are analogue. I'm looking for a high end DVR with full D1 recording and network access with iPhone and iPad access remotely. I also would like HDMI outputs as well as normal TV output and VGA. This is to allow maximum flexibility for integration with whole house distribution as well as local control and display where the unit is housed. So far I've looked at DM, Alien, Averdigi and some other units from other manufacturers but can't decide on which is best for high quality recording and playback along with the above requirements. Budget wise I'm happy to spend whatever it takes up to around £2000. Any recommendation welcome.
