Could anyone possibly translate some jargon for me as I dont have a clue...
I have two cameras, one is a Vista Protos V & the other is a Samsung SCC-B5399P.
I have replaced the Vista with the Samsung at the front of my house as it looks a little bit 'smarter' rather than having a big housing attached on the house.
The picture on the samsung is pretty reasonable during the day, perhaps slightly better than the vista. However, as the light has faded & it has got dark, the picture is horrendous. There is so much noise, the motion detector on the DVR is constantly recording. The 'noise' in the picture looks a bit like the black & white noise you get on your TV when there is no arial plugged in, if that makes sense?
I have tried reading the instructions to determine which are the best settings, but it's a little bit complicated for me, being new to cctv!
Could anyone point me in the right direction for the best settings for the best picture quality?
To give an idea how the camera is situated here is a basic description of the area it covers...
Imagine a rectangle 12meters high x 10 meters wide, this is how the area looks from above.
The camera is positioned in the bottom left corner, approximately 3 meters off the ground. In the top right corner there is a street light, approximately 5 meters high. The light from this covers the top right 25% of the rectangle....... it is not particularly bright, just an average street lamp. This is the only lighting.
I dont really want to put up a floodlight as this wouldnt be particularly pleasent for my neighbours.
If any one could kindly look at the spec/instruction for this camera & help, I would be truly grateful.
I expected that as the spec was higher than the vista, it would be better... during the day it is, at night, its truly awful.....
I look forward to any advice.....
Thanks in advance.....
Regards,
Lucky.
