    Intermittent black images

I guess I am back a little late, but what actually happens is that the stream gets corrupted for 1 sec. The camera still sends the signal to the dvr, it is the dvr (probably) that messes up the encoding to the PC. Any ideas around that? This is a sample video from Milestone xprotect GO. The DVR at the same time shows no black images. http://goo.gl/YwHGQ
  2. Hi, I have installed my first cctv cameras a while ago, and I am now streaming them via Milestone Xprotect GO. When one of the 2 cameras switches to low light (IR on), the motion detection plugin hammers me with notification emails, because it gets this: This is intermittent, it can happen from several times a minute, to not at all in hours The camera is located 220 m away from the dvr, it is 12V 600mW, and I am powering it via ethernet (baluns) feeding it 15V. Can it be that I need more voltage? According to a spreadsheet I found, my wire losses are as follows: Calculate Wire Losses Enter Device Load in Watts 1 Device Watts Enter Starting Line Voltage 16 Line Voltage Enter number of pairs in Parallel 2 Pairs Enter Wire Run Length in Feet 900 Feet Enter Wire Gauge AWG 24 AWG Ohms Per Foot 0,02567 Calculated Ohms Wire Run 23,10 Ohms Calculated Amps on Line 0,04 A Calculated IR (Watts lost) Lost on line in Percentage 5,4 Keep Below 10% Thanks for any help.
  3. Hello, I am planning on installing a cctv analog system with 8 cameras. The distance from the DVR to the cameras will be from 25 meters to around 100 meters (maybe more). I am thinking of using cat5 cable, along with these: My question is, how do I power the cameras? I believe i have to hook a power supple to the utp cable, and power will be transferred via the balun, is this correct? Also, what is the maximum distance for my 12v cameras, for enough power to be transferred to them via the above method? Thanks!

    First attempt - questions

Well I'm back, everything went fine, power audio & video run through the same cat5 cable at a measured cable distance of 87 meters, no problem with the IR LEDs. The camera is supposed to draw . Thanks everyone for your help Now off to put up those remaining 7 cameras .
