We are looking to purchase a couple of Pelco Spectra IV PTZ's. My only question is when we purchase the back boxes for these, do they include all of the boards, etc. to install the PTZ itself, or is this something additional that would need to be purchased?

I've had similar issues with a customer that i picked up that was already using eyemax in their stores. Black video, but everything seemed to be working properly. Turns out that it was a non-compatible motherboard. The issue would naturally lead one to believe that it is a faulty card. However, eyemax cards are very finicky with motherboards. I have found the most basic motherboards to work best with these. I've been using entry level MSI cards with no issues, after having to troubleshooot issues with other cards.

You will have to install the card, but do not respond to any of the windows prompts to find drivers. Access the eyemax site and download the server software (5.5). This includes the drivers, DVR software, etc. Run the setup program, and the DVR will be up and running in minutes.

I am looking for clarification on adding IP cameras on an "analog" Geovision system as well. The sytem has 2 GV-1480 cards. Only 26 of the 32 cameras are used, and the customer would like to add 4 more cameras to the system. The best solution for these 4 cameras would be wireless IP. My questions are: -Would a USB license dongle need to be purchased if 4 Geovision IP cameras are added? Or are a certain number of licenses included for free if you have the 2 GV-1480 cards? -Would a USB license dongle need to be purchased if 4 third party IP cameras are added? I did want to come back to this post to mention that AverMedia has really improved over the course of a couple of years. I have had the opportunity to demo a new model, and I will say that the GUI has been completely redesigned since those that I typically did service on. As Destro said above, they are now VERY user friendly.

I also agree with this. It all depends on what you are attempting to monitor.

I would do some research on DLink brand cameras. They make some nice wireless IP cameras that will alert via email on motion. Each of their wireless cameras can also be recorded to PC. This is the best setup for homeowners who are just looking for something simple.

hi. the one you have listed is a toy compared to the avermedia. and i think anyone who says the avermedia is not user friendly has not used one. Like i said, this is only my experience with avermedia. I should also add that i have had experience with only the entry level products of this manufacturer.

I would also be interested in hearing feedback on this unit. Very reasonably priced NVR unit. My experience with AverMedia DVR's however has been OK at best. The menus are sometime difficult to navigate, and the units are not the most user friendly.

We received an interesting call today from a towing company looking to install mobile dvr's in each of their trucks. They are looking to be able to monitor remotely, live, while the tow trucks are in service. A couple questions came out of this: 1) Does anyone currently use a reliable 3G/4G mobile DVR? Are there any specific standard mobile DVR's that a 3G/4G antenna could be configured on and operate reliably? 2) How would the stream be while monitoring remotely with 3G at the DVR end and standard cable internet on the monitoring end?

They are only looking for one unit to start, but I believe they have a fleet of 5.
