i thought that may cause confusion which is why i said "so they both come on at the same time" i meant taking a feed from the lamp connector. also, its the only lamp in the alley and was added about 4 yrs ago and a substation is about 10 meters from it so they just tapped into the feed from there, it has just single phase coming in in SWA. i would leave street lamp posts alone like you already know 1. its classed as theft true. there won't need to be a replacement if i use heavy duty cable ties. the cctw camera they put on there was mounted with steel cable ties. true but you can requset that the lamp post head be replaced (but needs planning permmision) i would look at adding eco floods in the yard

hi, my dvr can export video but only in wavelet format which can only be played using the dvr software. this is not a problem if it needs to be reviewed by the police or played in court but it is a problem if for example i want to put the footage on youtube. i thought if i use a screen recorder to record the cameras after i press play in the software, it would work but i need the highest quality possible at as close to 25FPS as possible. has anybody got any suggestions? i have found some but the quality is rubbish! thanks in advance...

DVR showing and recording B+W video from colour camera
ljarrald posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi, i have just got a new camera for looking at the front gate of my house. i decided to test it out first so plugged it in to my netbooks power supply (12v, 3a) and connected it to the DVR with a short BNC to BNC lead. it works and stuff the DVR shows the video as B+W unless its on the 4X4 screen, in which case it is colour. i have had this problem before with a camera, but i found if i gave it a bit more voltage, it seemed to work. the camera has an OSD so i can change all sorts of settings. i have tried everything and still get this problem. whats going on? thanks in advance... -

DVR showing and recording B+W video from colour camera
ljarrald replied to ljarrald's topic in Digital Video Recorders
day / night is not the same as monochrome (monochrome is B/W only) the qvis cant send screen text to say what its setting are back to viewing screen no, iknow it cant send screen text. but the projector detects the type of input its getting, adjusts its self accordingly and displays the input type. i will get a still from the video, hold on. -
DVR showing and recording B+W video from colour camera
ljarrald replied to ljarrald's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. ljarrald the signal from the camera should not be changing the settings on your projector having monochrome comming up on the screen would not be comming from the camera. is your camera from the link you posted or is it that it looks the same. (the one you have listed is a qvis camera) and it has no monochome settings the camera i listed is the same. it must be coming from the camera. i did a vid showing it but youtube is stupid and won't let me upload it so i am going to have to do it again -
DVR showing and recording B+W video from colour camera
ljarrald replied to ljarrald's topic in Digital Video Recorders
when the camera switched to night mode, the projector started messing around and then the picture came back and instead of PAL it said monochrome. i do have the option on the camera to keep it as one or the other. i am going to tinker later... -

yup! in our shed i have 4 cameras (3 on the outside, 1 on the inside) all powered from a psu inside the shed. the psu also powers a microphone and vibration sensors inside the camera housings (to activate an alarm should the camera be attacked by a brick again) and the video signals run back via cat5. alarm signals are on standard alarm wire.

PTZ Control/ Priority options with multiple locations
ljarrald replied to ssnapier's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i think its built into the keyboard. are you talking about software? can i have a link to instructions? on my software, only one client can control PTZ at a time, and its decided on login. but what can be done is setup users and restrict access to only live viewing. but that is still not what you need. hrrmmm -
PTZ Control/ Priority options with multiple locations
ljarrald replied to ssnapier's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i am not sure. in my system i am going to have a keyboard at the dvr, in my room and in the living room. the one at the dvr will be address 1, my room address 2, and the living room address 3. the lower the address, the higher the priority. so if someone was controlling stuff in the living room and i was in the cellar, if i press a button on the cellar keyboard, control gets passed to me. -
i dont get how someone can walk away with it like that. personally i like to take pride in doing a good installation.

nope, not all detectors have blinking LEDs at all. it would not be hard to add one if you wanted one though.

Do you have the case and rest of bits required? Shout if you need anything or SW for it i have loads i used to repair these JPEG2000 still puts lot new dvrs to shame on playback pity about the file sizes i have the case, the only thing it does not come with is HDDs. but i am going to use some from a broken DVR iknow nothing about this dvr, is it good? i'm wondering weather to use it as a backup for the 8 main cameras that go into my 15ch dvr, or to sell it. what d'ya think? -
my DVR does not even have a grounding screw. but now you mention it, i'll add one to the lockbox i'm making

yeah. installing without property owners permission is one thing, refusing to take it down when asked to is another. he should take them down. -
