Here is the fix from Hikvision kudos to Terrence_hik here on cctv forum for getting me through to someone at Hikvision. Hikvision is looking into their tech support email link on the usa site to make sure requests are getting through to someone. Here is a reply from Clare at Hikvision in China, looks like joindvr was on to something. "We have just discovered similiar problems (time difference on iVMS-4000 VOD when connected to iVMS-2000) caused by DST setting difference between the iVMS-2000 and iVMS-4000 software, and we have a latest version iVMS-2000 released to solve this problem." FYI latest version is Build 20110121. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the file link here but hopefully they will get their site updated soon with the new version.

Just want to introduce myself, I have been involved with the setup and repair of a somewhat large CCTV system at my place of work. I am an electronic and computer technician. I also enjoy tinkering around with things and that's what brings me here. The company I work for has just under 128 cameras spread out over 4 DVRs (32 cameras per DVR). I do my best to keep IT's hands off of our equipment as when they walk in the door and look at the systems they don't have a clue how they work or what to do to service them. Originally before I maintained them IT was using the JBOD function on a 3ware sata controller and said it was running RAID6. They couldn't understand why they lost recorded data when 1 drive failed on that system so I took over and actually set up a RAID6 volume with 2 hot spares that works. What good is a DVR system if the recorded video is lost on a failed hard drive? Anyways enough about that, I'm here because I want to tinker with the iVMS software that Hikvision has for their DVR cards and learn more about what others are doing. Our systems at work are running Netvision 4.66 (yup it’s old) so I wanted to get a feel for the differences.

One thing I like to do, not required though, is set up a port forward in the router instead of DMZing the computer. I would do this for a system security standpoint, ie I forward port 3389 (remote desktop) to the IP of the computer I want to establish a RDC connection to. I also have port 8000 (iVMS-2000 default remote port) forwarded to the IP of my DVR. I also have my router setup to allow remote management. This way say I need to establish a RDC to my DVR computer instead of the other system I have setup I can remotely change the port forward to the DVR and so forth. Also this way severely limits how much of your DVR is exposed to the outside world (internet) limiting what hackers can find and get into. Obviously this will only work if you know or could obtain the port needed for the remote management of your dvr software. I just try to limit the use of DMZ's as much as possible when possible. Just my 2 cents worth that I like to pass along.

Only been running for 1 week, I'm testing out different systems at home for work purposes.

I have the same problem right now with iVMS-4000. For me it's about 1 hour off. If I want to view something at 10am I have to click in the 11am spot, that is hopeing there is events recorded in the 11 am slot. My setup is iVMS-2000 with the DS-4016HSI card. On the iVMS-2000 system everthing works great.
