    New H.264 DVR

So is there a stand alone dvr that will record 16 cameras at 30 fps at 720x480 res? The best I think I have seen does 7.75 or 120 fps at that res.
  3. When putting this together did you contact Louroe to see what they recommended? Reason I ask is they usually would have suggested the AP for this type of senario. Also which is faster the audio or the video?

Also have received many e-mails telling me they need my help getting some money from numerous people and numerous reasons in nigeria...which I googled and found its a big scam other then that just the viagra cialise normal spams(think my wife might have put my e-mail on some website for viagra?)

    New H.264 DVR

Those 10 weren't in a row, they were spread out over a couple months. To be honest I don't think there is one company out there( that I do enough business with to judge) that I haven't had at least one issue with or another. Since my rep from the company you don't like left there I haven't been to happy with there customer service. Hey who is this Hikvision I keep hearing about? They make alot of DVR's that are oem'd or what?

    New H.264 DVR

See know I love GE I sold well over 1 mil by myself last year half in DVMRE's alone but I have had issues with there stuff to. I understand importing cost alot thats why I said free. When the ultra view domes first came out I had 10 out of 14 go down in a week so I sent him 10 more of which 4 were junk at the get go and that customer will never buy those domes again but I still recommend them and sell quite a bit of them. In Oct. Nov. and Dec. I sold over 100 DVMRE's and had 10 either doa or with other issues. Now if those would have been the first 10 I sent to you as a new customer to me and GE would you still buy more??

    Testing of Dome Cameras

Are you going to rate each dome on different applications such as no lighting, low lighting or various lighting conditions like parking lots, drive threws, halogen versus floresent or phosphorous and such?
  10. You using an AP2? What Toshiba EVR, DVR or an older model?

    New H.264 DVR

Technology in the last year has went crazy...think of it this way..how many mpeg 4 or 480fps 16 ch stand alone DVR's were there a year or so ago? Now for the price yes, now a days there are alot more dvr's available that are less expensive with the same if not more advanced features, which is why I used to tell my rep was the reason I don't sell to many. Don't get me wrong I am not an Everfocus junky I have had many issues with there equipment but they always do whats right with returns and repairs and such just like any other company who equipment I recommend(which there isn't alot considering all the ones I sell). To me if the company is willing to do what it takes to make it right with whatever the situation is(and hopefully it was just a couple bad apples) then they must have something going otherwise they wouldn't be succesfull. One of these days when I get you to set up an account with me I will send you out some free demo's to test drive.

    New H.264 DVR

Damn Rory that Everfocus ordeal really traumatized you huh? As a distributer of over 150 lines of euipment I feel the rathe of installers when equipment goes bad, even though I am not the manufacture and believe me Everfocus EDSR's are barely in my top 5 bad DVR issues. The new EDR's are pretty impressive for the price and network playback was an issue with alot of the first round network dvr's as well as other networking issues. Hell the DX8000 when it came out had a problem with the CDRW I don't think there is one DVR out there that hasn;t had its fall back, damn you being in the bahamas I am surprised you get any equipment that hasn't been takin apart and either searched for drugs or used for the transportation of them.
  13. What are you using to record the audio? Mics, monitoring stations or such?
  14. JMANOFNVS

To IP or not IP..that is the question...

jeromephone I am not sure what IP Systems you have installed but IP systems require less wiring, broadband width can be an issue with multiple high res cameras but camera pricing depends on what you buy and where you are buying them. There are cheap IP cameras just like there are cheap cctv cameras. Also if you are running a PC DVR the network going down could be an issue there as welland the last time I checked hard drives are hard drives, the only thing that makes them cost more is the make and model. If you have a well designed system it doesn't matter what goes down(except maybe the building) your security system will still be in operation. To me the main issue with IP systems is there is alot more complex pieces of equipment that can fail Correct me if I am wrong on any of this because I am definitely not the master of IP or CCTV I just design and sell security systems for a living.

    New H.264 DVR

Neither one of them says they will record 30fps at 720x480. The ameba or the Intellicam wont even record that resolution at all according to the specs. So I am not impressed at all, looking at the specs the Everfocus EDR1680 looks better then both of those.
  16. Have you tried using the AP-8 instead of the IF-8? That alone should improve your playback. Also you only mention a Sanyo 810..you don't have 4 cameras and 4 mics all running into the same single channel DVR do you?
  17. The Verifact A is a nice mic and puts out good quality audio for surveillance purposes but Sanyo's DVR isn't exactly the best audio recording device either. What exactly are you trying to record and what are you playing it back on?

Any suggestions for License Plate Cameras?

For wireless in this situation I would recommend Microtek's Point to Multi point Omnidirection Set up with 2 or 4 Covi EVQ1000. Extreme's reg's are the best and Panasonic WVCS954 is awesome but for plates and the price might as well go with Extreme Reg.

    backyard camera

I'd say use the Extreme EX14 for the best quality.
  20. I have alot of customer who install exactly what you are talking about and they are all different. One guy uses 8mm recording devices because according to him digital is not valid yet. Another guy uses DVD recorders with HD's (kinda like Tivo but with a DVD burner) and the rest use anything from PC Card system's to cheap OEM DVR's that they buy from some asian guy because I can't compete with those prices. Basically from what understand there are different laws on what can be used in court depending on where you are. The best way to sync your audio and video is with a simulcast device which is used in movie productions and such, but they are very expensive.
  21. Hey Thomas where did you get that formula? So in geek theory 30fps at 740 x 480 for 16 cameras is possible. How much do the different compressions change that?
  22. JMANOFNVS

    Feedback about 4 Channel DVR

PC Windows XP gives you (i sound like a broken record now ) higher quality evidence sharing, faster speeds, upgradable flexibility, and larger selection of the newest compression codecs. Stand alone non Windows (eg Linux, Nucleus, etc) are great for plug, play, and forget about it, with little to no intervention. A budget Stand Alone is in no way silimar to a decent higher end unit. Same can be said with PC Cards, but with well known brands the software stays the same across the boards. Third Time is a Charm

    Total IP Video Solution Needed

I have only worked with Sony and Toshibas IP equipment and found both easy to use and set up but I have customers who are all over the board with different opinions on whats best and whats not...even a couple who design and build there own servers. Keep us posted on what you find.
