To IP or not IP..that is the question...

Toshiba has a nice hybrid dvr and I have heard there hybrid cameras not to shabby. I haven't seen either of sony's ptz's at night with lighting variables but the 30n should be better if properly set up because is has an ir filter, dont think the 25 does although both can be set manually to b/w mode or even on a timer. I sell more of the 25n's because the video looks smoother over the net and its a couple hundred dollars cheaper, its only 18x optical zoom though and the 30n's has alot more features. Where did you see it against the specta ??

    Opinion on housings

If you really want a housing like videolarm's inexpensive housing you can pick up the same exact housing from numerous online vendors for probably half the cost. Its just a standard oem job. Ask securitymonster I bet he has one just like it.

To IP or not IP..that is the question...

Its definitely part of the future, once the get all the compatibility and vulnerablities worked out of the networking world, if ever. Jisaacmagee said it best though, it all breaks down to what they need or what they want to accomplish with what they are willing to spend. I have a Sony SNCRZ30N and a Sony SNCRZ25N set up at work with an IP address I give out when a customer ask about IP cameras, I just have our tech hook which one they want to play with give them the login and 8 out of 10 think its the best thing since sliced bread. Of course these are high end but cheaper then a Spectra III and doesn't require a DVR or anything special to operate.

    Opinion on housings

Being in MI you might want to try a Pelco EH35122mt. Has a heater blower and defroster.

    Camera suggestions for UF500 installation

I am curious as too why you bought the UF500 without a camera, or do you have a camera already up?? The 730nm's have a good glow too and I assume you have a huge back yard with that distance?? What are you trying to see?
  7. I feel like a slacker now! Learned most of what I know from talking to dealer/ installers, reps, manufacturers techs, co-workers and the internet (which includes here). The business has changed alot since I've been in it...couldn't even imagine what it was like when a b/w basic cctv cam cost hundreds of dollars or even before the internet.
  8. Can't you just use multiple IP cams and plug them into a hub?
  9. Never heard of that one but I know Pelco has some nice training and its free.

    need ideas..new project

Thats great!!! Stacy has been there like 4 years, Yvette I think a year and Candy is really new. What kind of euipment have you been getting?? How did you get in contact with us and end up with them as your account reps??
  11. LOL isn't that how it always is though?? Wants a BMW at a BMX price.
  12. Could be worse if he wanted to use PTZ's and then wanted to send the signal via wireless IP to his office 10 miles away to record on an standalone dvr and then be able to view it remotely on his cell phone with complete controof the whole thing.

Yeppers, name is Justin. I love crazy applications, night vision, wireless, IP and all that. Its my speciality. Have learned alot on here though. Why you ask? Isn't it on my info in the memberlist?
  14. I am curious as to what he wants to accomplish.

    need ideas..new project

My customer? That was like a year ago. The end user crapped his pants when he got the first quote and second and third and so on. Ended up useing 4 of those 12vdc 700ma solar panels you see for really cheap with a transmitter and a cheap b/w exview bullet. I am curious to see how good it works. My customer has since installed a 4 camera system in his house with 2 Sony sncrz25n's, so it must not have been as important as he thought when he seen the price.
  16. Correct me if I am wrong but if he wants to capture plates doesn't angle of the IRs have to be just right? I am not sure if thats what he wants since he hasn't been back here yet and answered my original questions.

Has anyone ever seen Extremes EX27NXPMECC2 in action? I am curious to see how good it works. A customer of mine asked me to put together something that was mobile and could be left in a cow pasture and viewed remotely. I told him about the extreme ex27 and to pick a decent size camping trailer to put them on or he could try puting a bunch of deep cycle marine batteries, a couple of IP cameras hooked up to a Microtek transmitter and if it didn't last as long as he wanted add more batteries.

    Here's another one

I know them and distribute there products. Just like most oems they have some good stuff and some not so good, so I have heard. They have helped me out several times when I was in a pinch. What are you looking at getting from them?

    license issue

So is there a license required to do networking and computer installs?? If there is, would that work for installing PC DVR's and IP cams or because its surveillance you need something extra?

    Samsung SDC-415

Ya the 403 is costly they also have the 255 which is pretty nice for the price. I sell alot of there d/n domes and the 5-50's. When selling d/n cams I try to stress that the lens can make a big difference. Good d/n cams need good d/n lens or ir d/n lens (depending on application).
  21. Why not try an extreme cam and run it into a video server?? It would be about the sam price as that axis cam. What are you trying to accomplish anyways.

    Samsung SDC-415

Have you tried Ganz zhnh403's or sony's sscdc593's? They do good with head light glare. I have also heard great thing about panasonics sd3 cameras but for the price they better be good

    What makes camera "true" day/night?

I have several favorites and customers who love all these, GE's 2000DN, Ganz ZHNH403, Sony sscdc593 and can't forget bosch 0495 and 0620. This is not counting extreme because its there specialty.

    Samsung SDC-415

Ya the ktc200dn is a sweet camera but a little more expensive then the sanyo. I sell way more of the ge.
