Lately I have been having internet issues like when outlook downloads new e-mail I get kicked out then outlooks gives me an error and I can't get back online unless I disable my connection in the control panel and reinable it. Also its been taking longer to run my spyware gear before Ishut down at night. Any thoughts?

Well I was refering to pc dvr's but actually they both have negatives like GE is expensive and pc dvr's...well its a pc and I have alot less issues with my tv dvr then I do with my PC but I love my PC!! Wife says I should sleep with it tonight if I don't get to bed soon!!

I wouldn't buy either of them myself for the price of one of those fully loaded I could buy 2 DVMRE's CTII's fully loaded. PC's and Video cards is where its at for price( if you build your own), playback networking and features they have some issues but for the most bang per buck you can't beat them.

704x240 2-cif but the bit rate and frame rate compression as well as camera resolution, monitor resolution, and other variables can make a difference on how good it looks. Did you check out that link?

    New Guy Question

It think the wall socket is the problem or more specific the power going to the wall socket. Put a voltage monitor on it for a while and see if the voltage, amps or anything fluctuates over an hour or so.

CIF is an irrelavent term and can be completely different depending on the machines compression and other specifications. Check this out It is essential to quantify the resolution used in any system. Many systems state that they have 'high resolution frames' or 'high definition frames' (the latter being a complete misnomer) when in fact the resolution is only CIF, which is only about 25% of the resolution available from most CCTV cameras. Common use of the term 'CIF' covers a small range of resolutions, so it is best to get a statement in terms of pixels, such as 352x240 or 320x240 (also known as QVGA) for NTSC. (Different values are used for PAL.)In addition, the amount of compression applied to an image of a given resolution affects the sharpness of the image and the number of artifacts. However, it is hard to quantify the sharpness of an image whereas it is easy to count the number of pixels in a frame, or the number of frames per second. There is tons of articles on CIF online. I found this link really helpful: http://www.bcdlowvoltage.com/Turnkey/Turnkey_CCTV/tech_faq.htm

    Monitor remote parking lot

Panasonic line?? The WVCS964 is awesome and some of there other cams are nice too..little expensive..but the 964 ptz would do the job with the right dvr, but a fixed cam with vf lens you will either be able to see 20-30ft with detail or 90-100ft give or take alittle but not the whole area well enough to try to catch a crook. Do you plan on installing this??? If so do you know what you are doing? Whats your proffession if you don't mind me asking??
  12. Definitly can be done but not cheap and CollinR has the right idea with a couple of twists and you would lose video itegrety

    Questions about ADT's DVR

You answer for the DVR's is all the above!!! Depending on the dvr it can record on motion, just stamp when theres motion, record slow when no motion and speed up when there is motion, with certain ptz's the camera will zoom in on motion and even track it, some dvr's have time lapse functions that can do 1 fpm and more or less. Do you know the file size of your 1minute clip? How about the frame rate, resolution, and compression its recording at? I usually recommend 250gb for 30 days on a 4ch in a residential area if cameras are outside and mom is home with kids soemtimes. A good buddy and local cust of mine got 3 months on an 160gb 4ch mpeg4 with one cam 520lor covering 3car drive way and street in front of house in a track community 480 ir bullet in back yard with bull dog, and one in the den pointing towards the front door all were rec. at 620x480 7.5 fps on motion plus his wife is stay at home mom with 1 1/2 year old girl.

    Monitor remote parking lot

Dang Monster you are never this helpful before. Because their ID is JulieX doesn't mean its a girl1 There is one channel networkable DVR's out there but they are usually around the same price as a 4ch and you should never say never especially with CCTV. How far from were the closest spot on there building to put a camera to the furthest spot in your lot? and the closest? and how wide at each point? Reason I ask is you might not be able to cover the whole lot with one camera and odds are if you can you won't be able to make out any details of a perpitraitor if there was an incident. Also if there is light in your parking lot you could but cameras by them and tap the power then shoot the video wireless accross to the dvr.

    Questions about ADT's DVR

For hard drive space it depends on(assuming you are recording 24/7 and not on motion) a)the camera resolution wether its color, B/W or DN if its got DSS(digital slow shutter) or any other special features that effect imaging b) the video its recording like a 10 minute clip of a dead hall way is going to be much smaller then a 10 minute clip from the Supebowl half time show. c) the compression the dvr records at and d) the frame rate you are recording at. I think I got most of them. Motion triggered recording will definitly save you some HD if there is dead time periods. For instance 4 hi res cameras running 24/7 in a busy environment at 15fps each 720x480 res could eat up 500 gigs in less then 48 hours.

    Viewing DVR on PDA?

Its a Sanyo MM-7400 Dual Band.
  19. You never know with anything electrical anymore. I have customer who have had a DVR last for up to 5 years before they had to go in and replace it. The same model installed 2 miles away has been serviced for various reasons 3 or 4 times and is newer. Warranties I have seen are usually 1-3 years for DVR's if there is one for more then 3 years soembody let me know. Cameras on the other hand I have seen up to 10 years, again if there is one longer anybody please post it(I like to keep current). Figure it like this a good DVR should last you a couple years, maybe not with out a service or hard drive issue here or there but long enough to purchase overall that you will be able to purchase something faster with more features and probably easier to use for less by the time its dead. About 3 or so years ago dvr's were around double the price they are now with less features.

    Viewing DVR on PDA?

When I first started in this industry a little less then a couple years ago Telexper came in and showed us the latest and greatest. Told us how it could be view remotely with a dial up and on PDA's and even a cell phone. So of course being new and very interested to see if they were just blowing smoke we made them show us and sure enough there it was on a cell phone!! I carry a stand alone thats supposed to be capable of this with certain phones like Verizon/Motorola/T-mobile using some java app. My phone is a multi media phone has a camcorder with 40 secs of video, SPrint TV and many other features but it wouldn't do it. Is there something I am missing or can do to make this work? or is it just that particular dvr??

    Aimgene Bio Products

I have seen them and many other products that use finger prints. The trick is how many points they check for. Older readers use to only check 4-6 points but now the good ones check 8-10 so its more secure. They have the technology to do I believe 14-16 but thats to sensitive so they slightest bit of dust or moisture will deny access. Retinal recognition is less faulty and more secure.

    Cell Phone Client

There are a couple dvr's I know of that can be accessed via cell phone and they only work with certain models but I am sure that will change soon with technology going the way it is. Telexper is the first one I seen do it, a couple of my customers use these Teluli dvr's that they say do it, ARM now has a standalone real time unit that does it. From what I have gathered Verizon T-Mobile or Motorola seem to be the most common that work. They need to have internet access and Java applet or similar capabilities. I would like to learn more about this type of process and why some phones work and some don't even though they have similar Internet atributes. Any Experts in this forum??

    opinions on these dvr's

Thats a decent looking machine and I have heard good things about Techwin. I believe Krcctv has very similar units.

What do you think of these cameras?

Both cameras are no good for the price. You can get those same cameras if not exact very similar and probably better for around the same price if not cheaper then speco sells them from other companies like Supercircuits, Mace, Intellicam, Swanson, Vitek and thats just to name a few. Have you had a professional spec out your application with equipment that will give you the features you want?? If not I recommend it or maybe go to Costco or HomeDepot and get what you want there for your budget.
