Ya all there links and the ones I found elsewhere all came up to dead ends or a language I couldn't recognize. So if this is a loner whats taking so long to get the DM back?? Other then trying to get video off it does it work for everything else?? Is this your machine you use as a loaner or one that was supplied to you by somebody as a loaner? If its yours I would suggest investing in a new loaner if you can;t get video off it, assuming it functions in the other aspects.

Recommend me a DVR (there are so many brands and options)
JMANOFNVS replied to PHOENIX's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Didn't mean to be so blunt, on the serious side of things you couldn't get a 4ch DVR with a third of what you want for that price. Look at it this way an inexpensive HD is around $125 for a 250 gig on newegg and 8 cameras recording full blast with max res will kill you budget in 3 days and you haven't even bought anything but the HD. If you have a tight budget go with a 4ch 30 fps maybe networkable and motion 80 gb hd and b/w 380tvl bullets for outside b/w microdomes inside, use your TV for monitor and wall worts for power and you will still be over your budget by about double depending on who you buy from and what kind of equipment they sell. -

That unit with the hard drive you want to record at the highest resolution and the frame rate maxed out because its only a 30 fps unit is more then 3 times the amount you want to spend. I get awesome pricing and the cheapest DVR I can get my hands on that has 8chs with no HD, motion tracking, which means it just note the time and date of the motion but pretty much a bone dry unit is more then what you are asking to spend and to be honest I would rather sell you a Time Lapse VCR just because its not a unit I could sell to some body and still sleep at night thinking they want it for security. Let me ask you one question... can you really put that kind of price tag on what you want to protect with this system?? -
Kalatel DVMRe 16CD HD and latest firmware
JMANOFNVS replied to adeosa's topic in Digital Video Recorders
How long ago did you buy it? Was the HD you purchased the same brand, speed and such as the HD's in it? -
Ya he either needs to go with a good 4ch with some nice features with some storage(what I would recommend) or a so-so 8 or 9ch with some features and maybe a week of storage. Do you have any idea of the frame rate or resolution you want?

Kalatel DVMRe 16CD HD and latest firmware
JMANOFNVS replied to adeosa's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I am surprised Rory isn't all over this yet. Well the first question I have is why did you install your own HD?? -
Monster you should know better to read the whole thread first. He is looking to spend up $3000 if necessary..which it will be.. and he doesn't want 2 months of storage just a dependable system. For a GE DVR your budget might be to tight depending on the features you want. If you want a decent mid range 4 camera system $3000 should be ok for the equipment end but if you want professional installation better be ready to spend a little more.

You mean ATV? If so they just oem it.

Never seen or even heard of those dvr's but the specs look so-so. That ir bullet camera I doubt will give you the results you want. First question you say 1-2 months unattended..so do you want that much video stored? If so what frame rate and resolution are you wanting? For the first outdoor camera do you want to see a parking lot or the drive way? You could get one camera to see all that but it wouldn't look pretty. Second question if only one camera for first senario, what do you want to be able to make out or identify with the outside cameras with the distances you gave? With my experience that camera will not be able to make out much past 50 feet if that. Maybe some of these guys on here no about that dvr..I would recommend the GE out of the names you listed and for the cameras Extreme.

display v recorded playback resolution question.
JMANOFNVS replied to sf1964's topic in Digital Video Recorders
This is a very good topic!!! Since hi res cameras are now 480 to 600 at best in color (unless you bring mega pixel, HD, or 3 ccd chip cameras into the picture but thats a whole nother ballgame) CCTV color hi res monitors are usually 520 to 800 at best yet stand alone's highest recording is 720x480 which is most PC based systems best as well. Then of course you got your facial recognition or license plate recognition results but the rest of the picture usually isn't the best because all you want is who did it. So to me it depends on what you consider the best picture but honestly I have seen very few units where the playback look just as good as the live display and they were usually high end systems of which there are many configurations. -
I personally don't know that model very well because just from the specs I wouldn't sell it. When customers ask for it I switch them to something I know works. If you have ever seen a Supercircuits magazine they have the same unit in white. To me 25fps is not enough for 9 cameras although for the price its probably hard to not at least try it once. Monday if you are still having issues first call SCD they should be able to help but if not please call Arm Electronics @ 888-771-4544 and ask to talk to a tech, preferably Dave or Kevin. Why call Arm for A KTL DVR you might ask well KTL was bought out by Arm.

Did you try the #'s?? If so check there business info to see if they were bought out or went out of business.

Intermittent transmission problems
JMANOFNVS replied to chewingyu's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Sorry to be blunt and to quote somebodies closer on here but "you get what you pay for" after 5 years running the cables they used and the technology back then not too mention cost of equipment you are lucky you have a picture at all. With that distance fiber should have been your only option in the bid you put up. Trying to bandage it will only prolong your issue. The price difference in equipment now should persuade your company to fork over the bucks to at least run twisted pair, you can get it in 5000' spools and use some NVT magic and smart design and not cost to much. -
I with you monster never heard of them but we have probably used or delte with there units before. Before this forum I never heard of alot of the true manufactures names.
-
Beside networking them together or rewiring everthing the best solution I see is buying 64 dvr's or nvs's. Then if the 60 cam building needs to add more then the units capabilities they could add a switcher or up grade the software.

Did you check out the manual and drivers on there site??

Seriously though what was it hooked up though a pc dvr? -
Your talking about the rifatron right? Your might have to use there software to view the video.
-
So when you say can't back them up..do you mean its not recording on the HD? If you mean how to get the images or video off the unit, you should be able to record them on your computer when viewing over the net or you can use a USB grabber. For the audio if it has more then one input you must select from the menu which one you want to record.

Remote Video Monitoring Services

Yes like I said previously my freind works for westec ( iwasn't sure on the spelling but basically she gets an alarm then brings up the video and then contacts who ever. FE Moran is a great customer of mine and just wait till you see what they have comming... Like stated previously make sure you have all your contract liabilities covered, according to my friend down south they always have people trying to sue. -
Same thing here and I made a couple calls as well. Basically I found you can convert other types of video files to this but I have found nothing that records it.
-
This isn't really a large project but a simple one. I would change the dvr if its an option because its simplex mainly. Bosch Dinion are great cameras but for the price and your application I would spend more on the dvr. Couple questions. Where are your cameras going?(indoor outdoor and such) ANy lighting issues? What are you trying to accomplish with each camera? For instance if outside do you want to see peoples faces, car makes and models, colors and other such things.

Doesn't anybody use a lens wheel anymore???
-
Telexper is good but not cheap, except the simple which I personally have had no success with. The EDSR400 is a dinosaur(Rory has a thing for Everfocus) Nuvico is decent. The others are (not to be biased) no good and I base that on returns, ease of use, features, cost, and word of mouth. In no particular order. GE is good and I don't think they are that expensive. What features are you looking for??
-
None that I know of. Why does it need to be in that format? If you have that kind of file you can convert it or vis-versa. From what I have found that is used by Deposition software for lawyers.
