Most name brand like Panasonic sell both tinted and clear domes. They usually give you an option in the part # depending on manufacturer. A couple even give you both clear and smoked domes when you buy it. Toshibas new dome not only come with both but also has flush and surface mounting capabilities that come with it.

Hey don't forget me I will be the one standing between them with similar attire -
Ya HD does use alot. The Tivo type units I sell for HDTV recording like Sony will only hold around 20 hours at highest HD quality but will hold 270 at the lowest. With CCTV DVR's the resolution can't be recorded that high. Your thinking is kinda right the higher the mega pixels is usually better but just like 480 res on one camera doesn't look as good as 380 on another, the same applies with mega pixel cams. I don't know the technical stuff behind it, although it has probably been explained to me before, I have some customers who buy only 3 ccd cams like hitachi, sony, panasonic, ikegami and use nothing but Canon, Fujinon, rainbow and Kowa type high end zoom lenses then they put it in a pelco eh5723 or eh5729 housings with all the extras wiper and all, mount it on a pelco PT and use there own controller with a dial tone type rf signal to control it. I am sure somebody on here knows the break down.

Can't be to large I have never heard of them. They state they can keep up to 60 days on one hard drive and 2 years of site. These guys will do that and more but its not cheap in the long run. http://www.camerawebpage.com/services.htm
-
Well not really(could be wrong), I mean if you are recording at the DVR's highest res which is usually 720x480 then it shouldn't matter to much, but where it does matter is when you digitally zoom you can get further before the picture get to pixelly. Thats what I noticed when Covi came in and did a demo on-site.

-
Go for the Microtek because you can't lose they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy and with that they go the extra mile to make sure you get what you need.
-
Never heard of shuttle, but if they are ir bullets then I have heard that ir bullet with the ir's on or close to the board tend to slowly over heat it causing video loss or distortion.
-
My suggestion would be take the swann equipment back if possible and buy something else. If not possible what are the model #'s you are using? and distance as well as any obsticles between the cameras and receiver?

I know wireless isn't to bad on the pocket book but I have looked into some solar and its outrageous!!! Extreme turned me onto the company they use for the ex82 solar/wireless unit and just filling out the application questionare took a couple of hours and the cost was high.

Don't know abotu axis but I have seen Telexper over a dial-up and on a cell phone. I have heard of a company called teluli , think I spelled it wrong but they supposedly can do it and one of Arm's new dvr's that just came out a real time imbedded unit states in the manual it can be viewed over certain cell phones and PDA's. -
Ya g-man know distribution from all the cameras he has got going.

I have a warehouse in Memphis TN, but thats as close as I get. It takes 2-3 days to get stuff to my customers in Naples and the southern parts of FL.

As far as I know they can't be upgraded unless you are some dvr super genuis and can take it apart and change some chips and boards. Rory could probably do it.

Thats great!!! -
I like domes...more specifically PTZ's but they are easier to set up and so forth but what about dome our wedge or box style housings with box cams in them they have there uses, I think definitly do it all!!!! So how many domes are you going to try? Are you going to use IR domes to? You should ptu them all in there own catagory and put the outdoors on the back wall for the envirnmental effect. Like fogging up and even mese with some flask lights or if accessable by car drive by to get the effects of headlights and such.

Hell for the price of wireless and solar you could hire somebody else to run the wires.
