I'm not a big fan of flush mounting. I know it looks better but it worries me that when the time comes to replace it you won't find something the same size. I come across this a lot with alarm panel keypads & intercom stations. The end result is a lot of patching & colour matching. Now if they would standardise the sizes like for auto accessories or rack mount equipment...... if only Interesting you say that. On google images i've noticed people using the car headrest monitors. Should work the same way..

Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone has installed an in-wall monitor? My wife saw something similar to this on tv and now she asked me to get it done. Another project for me. Sweet! Any brand recommendations? Any tips to share? Thank you!

$799 for the mount kit?! Nah. I also don't have any home automation stuff at the moment.

In the past I ran into something similar with going about 55 feet. I found out my dvr wasn't putting out enough power to extend the hdmi. The solution that I found was to use an active (powered) hdmi extender. But it looks like you are already doing that, based on the monoprice link that you provided.

I have a QC808 NVR and I hated that I wasn't able to go below 5 seconds on any of the settings. The nvr would just revert back to 5 seconds. But I found out that via web access into the nvr, it allowed me to change AD to 3 seconds. It appeared to have saved the setting. Later that evening I went back to check the setting on the nvr and it was reporting 5 seconds for the AD. So i don't know if it really took the setting or not. MD was really unrealiable for me at home. Since then i've just installed 2 Optex motion sensors outside and have been waaaaay happier. -

RJ45 Male Connector Suggestions
lowpro replied to grege's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I just finished terminating a cat6 cable at work. We use the platinum connectors. We do like them because you can feed thru the wires which makes it easier. But at home I use the Monoprice ones that work just as well. Haven't had one fail. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10513&cs_id=1051305&p_id=7245&seq=1&format=2 -

So what did you pay for it? -
If you go analog, you're going to be left wanting more. We all started there. Save up and go megapixel. It's great that you have the time available to be able to run the wires before the walls are finished.

At home I have a hdmi splitter and use a hdmi extender to send the image into my bedroom which is about 50 feet away. I also ran a separate cat 5 cable to handle IR repeater so that I could use the nvr remote control. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011012&p_id=6532&seq=1&format=2

You don't have access to the dvr? Just unplug it from the back of the dvr and tie it to the monitor. Or connect directly to the back of the camera to see what you get on the tv. I guess the VGA could work but you'd need a composite to VGA converter.
-
Can you connect the camera output directly to a tv monitor? What does it look like then?
-
And how far away is the camera to the cars? Looks to be mounted about 20' up also?

The IR Filter is stuck. I had to send my camera back in to get swapped out. Or you can see if you can fix it yourself. You can try to wave a magnet in front / around it. Or you can take down the camera and turn it upside down to see if it will dislodge the filter. Good luck. -
Q-See cameras vs. Dahua
lowpro replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well I guess I meant to say, if you haven't tried it that way, it's pretty easy to do it via Bonjour. No need to know the IP address or anything. -

Nice Job. I would tidy up that blue ethernet cable though. -
Agreed. You did a good job. I personally like wiring and getting dirty.

Avigilon bullet sample video

I sure he's covered up with work in his own back yard like we are. To many Hospitals, Universities, Local, State, and Federal Government projects to deal with "Joe" from Chicago that wants a 1mp dome on his front porch to see if the neighbors dog is peeing on his grass. Smith is right. 99% of the requests that I get on this forum are for small 1-4 camera systems. This is not my target customer base nor is it Avigilon's. Also rememember this is mostly a DYI forum so customers want product that they can install themselves. So that means that you don't sell to them? Money is money. -

I'm not arguing the fact that they may have the best product in the market (hence my desire to buy) I'm only saying that their "established channels" are dropping the ball with me, and from the sounds of it, a lot of other people as well. Imagine how "stellar" the growth would be if they could actually cash the checks of the rest of the people who are looking to buy, but hitting brick wall after brick wall. Avigilon does things a little different then other manufactures. They do not sign everyone up as a dealer so they have control over the product and have dealers that are competent at installing the product. This way they don't have massive support issues and upset customers because the product doesn't work the way it was designed. If you would like pricing please contact me via PM. So how this work with you? Say someone contacts you via PM for pricing. Do you fly out to them if they do not live in PA? Do you just ship them the camera(s)? Do you connect them to someone that is local to them? -

Also double check that you are actually recording the sub-stream. What you are playing back on your phone is actually the sub-stream and not the main stream. Make sure that both of those streams are being recorded.
