Q-SEE NVR QC804
lowpro replied to andresdamas's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Double check that the user account that you are using, has permissions to playback. -
I don't do residential work anymore. Most of our projects now are police departments, town wide systems, hospitals, hotels, ski resorts, school districts, universities, manufacturing....... This thread is ridiculous BTW. So would you personally, at home, be able to afford putting up Avigilon cameras? If you had to pay for them, of course.
-
I wonder how many of you would actually be using Avigilon if you weren't working with them at work. I bet your wife would sign off on ( of those $3,000.00 cameras for home use? Yeah right.
-
So Avigilon isn't over priced?

Looking for PIR Motion Detector recommendations...See Pic
lowpro posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi Guys, I'm wondering if you guys had any recommendations on PIR Motion Detectors? Up the street there is a speed bump, so I'm getting a lot of false alarms at night time when the camera senses the car lights move up and down. I'm mostly concerned with the front door and two walkways. End of the driveway is about 60 feet away. Most of the motion detectors that I've seen are mounted to the wall. Do they make some that would hang off of the eve? I guess I'll have to look around. Are all detectors pretty much the same? I'm guessing the difference is just the "trigger" area? This is one of the Q-See 1.3mp ip cameras with an M12 3.6mm lens. Thanks! -

A co-worker of mine (in another state) hired an electrician to run the Ethernet cable and mount 3 cameras. Two guys came out and it took them 6 hours to mount 3 cameras. The biggest problem that they had was figuring out how to put on the cat6 connectors...haha. The company charged her $100 an hour. -
Do a search for Zyxel here on this forum board. Many users have used their POE switches. The one that I linked above would work well.
-
Do you need it for this? Probably not. Have you made up your mind on a gigabit switch? Sounds like you have. Go for it!
-
Are you using a new user account? Are you sure that you gave the user permission to playback? I vaguely remember something like this before...
-
Sure, why not? You could always close them if it doesn't work.

You're right, page 16, sorry about that! QC808 only has 4 poe ports, as you mentioned. You'll need to purchase a switch like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-181-163&ParentOnly=1&IsVirtualParent=1, that'll provide power to your other 4 cameras. Then you'll have to connect your new switch to your router. So the nvr will be connected to your router and now your new switch will be connected to your router also. Since they'll be on the same network, the nvr will now be able to see your additional cameras via the network. Your router should already be running 24/7, if you'd want your cameras to be seen view the web and/or your mobile device. Side note: Though the switch (from the link) may have 8-ports, it only really has 4 poe ports available. Make sure that you know what you're buying.

You could power them either way. The switch that you use would need to have PoE ports from which the cameras would get their power from. Other times it is just easier to supply power to the camera via the pigtail.

The stock 6mm lens that it comes with is a MEGA lens. But it sounds like you want to see if anyone has tried a 6mm m12 mega lens? -
did you open up port 37777 on your router?

Wow!

I've never used these before. Have a look. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_p1214/

I use an IR extender to be able to change the views/playback from my bedroom. I just had to run a cat 5 cable from the location of my nvr to my bedroom.

Q-See QCN7100B 1.3m settings question
lowpro replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Interval – This adjusts the amount of time that will pass before the NVR sends out another e-mail. The interval can be set from 0 seconds to ten hours (3600 seconds). If you are getting too many e-mails, you may wish to increase the length of the interval. Using this feature also helps prevent overloading your outgoing e-mail server. The Snapshot tab allows you to set the resolution, quality and frequency of snapshots captured by the camera. These are separate from the snapshots captured by the NVR using this camera. http://www.q-see.com/files/manuals/QC%20IP%20Camera%20Manual_web.pdf -

Changing the lens on the Q-See QNC7001B/Dahua HFW2100
lowpro replied to testshoot's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Could be you got a bad lens. The QC for these inexpensive lenses is not the best (part of how they keep the cost down), and often the customer provides the basic QC when they install it. You can roughly check the back focal length by pointing the lens at something bright a little ways off, watching the light coming out the back, and moving a piece of paper back and forth until the image focuses on it. A light fixture works well, or the sun shining through trees can work better for distance. Since it focuses up close and won't focus at a distance, you could also try holding the lens slightly away from the threads to see if you get better focus. This takes a steady hand and a dark area, with something lit that you can point at. If you can focus further out by holding the lens a little further away from the camera, it means your focal length is too long, and once you start screwing it in, your distance images are focusing behind the sensor. Ideally, you want the focal point in front of the sensor when the threads first engage, so that by turning it further in, you move the focal point back onto the sensor. Thanks for the test tip. I bought the more expensive Mega brand hoping to get a higher quality lens vs. the $4 ones. I wrote bikerider in hopes to hear back on his testing. What I found said the 16mm was soft. Haven't heard of anyone trying with the 12mm. I could use the 8mm which should work, but would rather have the 12mm as I don't want the height of the wider lenses, i.e. I don't want to freak out my neighbors by having their houses in view nor do I want to aim it way up and get a lot of sky. You could always mask out your neighbors house. -
As CCTV'ers, I thought this would be interesting to us. What can we learn from watching this video? One person asked, "can't the police just enhance the license plate?". I was even having trouble figuring out what make/model of vehicle it is. Happy New Years to you guys! ************ CHATSWORTH - Investigators from the Los Angeles Fire Department Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section have released surveillance video of an arsonist believed responsible for a series of fires in the west San Fernando Valley. The twelve intentionally set blazes in question, took place in Chatsworth, California between October 21 and October 28, 2012 http://lafd.blogspot.com/ P1QDxp4Pc5A

Help with a Edimax BR-6258N - How to make ip camera wireless
lowpro posted a topic in Computers/Networking
Hi Guys, Need some help trying to figure out how to properly connect this nano wireless router that I picked up. I'm looking to make one of my ip cameras a wireless camera. http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=372&pl1_id=3&pl2_id=18 So I'm having some trouble setting this thing up. At home I have U-Verse, router that I have is a 2WIRE - Model: 3801HGV Would I be giving the Edimax a static ip number or leaving it at dhcp? Do I have to forward any ports (85 & 37777) on the Edimax? DHCP server off? Is this the mode that I should be using? Thanks for your help guys!
