Help with a Edimax BR-6258N - How to make ip camera wireless
lowpro replied to lowpro's topic in Computers/Networking
Well I finally had more time to play with this experiment. Turned out that it was a lot easier to do than I thought. But I was indeed totally off on how I was trying to configure it. Here is the link to a .pdf that helped me figure it out. http://www.edimax.us/html/Faq/WifiRouterStationInfrastructure.pdf -

yep, they are in Anaheim. Maybe a 30 drive for me. Shipping was free however and they don't accept walk-ins. -

Just got my package in via Fedex. They replaced the bad camera with a new one, I checked the serial #. Packing slip says "Camera is defective with no night vision. Camera replaced w/new camera. Replacement fully inspected and thoroughly tested cameras function properly in lab" Shipped out Thursday to them and arrived back to me Monday. In in Los Angeles. -

No, it was the only camera that I had not done anything to. Still had the stock 6mm lens in. I would imagine that they would consider the warranty voided if they see that you went in there and messed with it. I'll be getting the package later. I'll let you guys know if it is the same camera or if it is a replacement. -

Yeah, I thought so also. Their website seems to work pretty well. I was able to upload sample pictures that I had so that tech could see. Email trail saved to your account. Free shipping both ways. -

I had to send in the camera with the IR cut filter not working problem. Q-See received and shipped out the the camera the same day. Not sure if they repair or replaced it. I'll get it monday. Customer service was pretty easy to deal with. -

Odd. I didn't have any issues swapping out the lenses in Q-See cameras. Used an Allen wrench -

NVR wont work with tv , yet works with monitor via HDMI
lowpro replied to icallyou604's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Have you tried connecting the nvr to the tv via composite? If I recall correctly, others have had the same issue. You go into the menus settings and then adjust the display settings. That should light up the hdmi port. -

Yeah, I guess I could try that. But really the problem that the camera is having is not seeing the IR. Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I have two cameras criss-crossing, so I know for a fact that this camera in question is def. not seeing the IR that the other camera is shooting out. -

I'm still having issues with the IR cut filter kicking in on one of the cameras. Happens to be the camera that I didn't swap out the lens on. Last time I waved a magnet at it and it fixed it right up. I tried doing the same thing earlier on today but it didn't seem to have taken it this time. I'll try it again tomorrow but I'm looking at sending it back for repair. Before I wasn't sure if it was the Christmas lights across the street that had to do anything with the IR filter not kicking in. -
Does the dvr have hdmi out? You could also look into splitting that. I ran two cat5e cables to our bedroom and used an active hdmi extender. Works great.

Pardon my front yard...Currently in the process of landscaping. This is the 3.6mm Non MegaPixel lens from DX. This is the 3.6 MegaPixel lens from M12lenses. I'm still seeing some of the corners cut off a bit. I'm thinking that I'll also have to go back and re-focus? Some things look more in focus with the non-megapixel lens. What do you guys think? Worth the effort? It's not like you just unscrew the front of the camera off. Btw, did I export these the correct way? I logged into PSS and searched for the above timestamps. I then took a "snapshot". Is that the best quality out of it? Did I need to do it from the NVR instead? -

Swapped in a 3.6mm megapixel lens in today. I also waved a magnet at my other camera that wasn't seeing the IR at night time. Well, the magnet got it to work now. I'll post some pictures when I come back from dinner. -

The IR cut filter is behind the lens and may have gotten stuck, had it happen to even fancier cameras like Foscams Sometimes unplugging them and plugging them back in resets it, sometimes a good slap works. If that doesn't work, check with Q-See (my assumption here), they are under warranty. I was a bit too busy at work today to do some research. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned waving a magnet in front of the lens. Would that work in my case? I've pulled the cat5 out from behind the nvr, still the same. The unit also reboots everyday at midnight, still the same or stays in day mode because of the porch light. Yes, in the past the camera had gone into night mode even with the light on. And when it doesn't I would force the camera into night mode by turning off the porch light. -
Welcome. You won't need a separate computer. Have some spare time? Here is THE thread to read. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=32694

Well I received my lenses yesterday from M12lenses. FL to CA in 4 days via USPS. Hopefully I will have some time this weekend to swap some of them out. Downside; looks like the 1st camera that I installed for some reason isn't seeing the IR at night. I have two cameras crisscrossing cross the front yard, about 55ft away from each other, so I can definitely see (from the 2nd camera) that the camera in question is throwing out IR, but isn't seeing it. If I remember correctly, It worked fine for about 2 weeks or so. I'll have to go back and check now. -

I'm sure others will chime in but I can tell you that those cameras are pretty bad. The specs are pretty low. That being said, Welcome! Better get comfy as you'll have a lot of reading to do! -
