  1. The stock 6.0mm lens that I took out was not plastic.
  2. Placed my order for 3! I agree, the stock 6.0mm did look not as sharp as I would have expected. Only 7 lenses left in stock!
  3. Agreed! The mp lens looks pretty good. Do you have any night time shots from it? *goes to look for wallet*
  4. Are you trying to do it from the computer or from the nvr itself? PSS has a snapshot feature, just tell it where you want the pictures to be saved to.
  5. I want to see also! " title="Applause" />
  6. This is a problem in the jungle of board-cam lenses. You can't even assume that a $15 ebay lens isn't just a marked-up $3 lens. If image quality matters, best bet is to find a vendor who specializes in lenses and applications, like ragecams on ebay or m12lenses.com, and pay a few bucks more. My experience with inexpensive lenses has not been great so far, though I still buy them on a whim now and again. I'm a big fan of DX and have bought many things from them, but their quality control and spec dependability can be weak... I'm waiting for hear back the feedback on the m12 megapixel lens that someone else ordered. I'm tempted to go ahead and order 2 of them but at a little over $35, I can wait a few days. I am however looking around for a coupon code.
  7. Someone else, earlier in the thread, mentioned that they had purchased the $2.10 lens. They reported that the focus was a bit soft and that this other $2.70 lens actually looked better with the exception of the dark corners. But yeah, I agree, didn't see 1/3" specified anywhere either.
  8. Did you get your replacement lens? What's the scoop?
  9. 1.3mp is the best quality. You'll see that the aspect ratio changes as you select the different settings, try it. Some other have made mention that yes, you can use other Dahua cameras with this NVR.
  10. That's almost as funny as the .5 million dollar home.
  11. Is the DX lens a 1/3" lens? The opening looks quite a bit smaller than the stock lens. That would explain the dark corners. This one here. http://dx.com/p/3-6mm-fixed-iris-lens-for-webcams-and-security-cctv-cameras-44101

New Guy With Costco 689086 Q-See

Welcome and Congrats! And so it starts..........
  13. Did you figure it out already? Like you, I have my NVR to record into 60min blocks. I was trying to understand what your issue is.... At 3:15pm I went into PSS pretending that I needed to see something that happened at 3:10pm. In PSS I went to "playback". In playback mode I was able to type in the date and time that I was looking for, then hit search. The result that came back was for the 3pm hour that was only about 15mins long. I was able to play starting at 3pm. I was able to jump to 3:10pm to see what I wanted to see. Is that what you were trying to do? Search on the iphone also works.
  14. When you say ordered, was that just this past weekend and still waiting for them or all ready have them in hand? I'm holding off to see if anyone will post any night time pictures. I also want to try out the megapixel lens. Found this eBay listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-6mm-MEGA-PIXEL-CCTV-Lens-for-Fixed-Board-Camera-US-/251182951865?pt=US_Surveillance_Accessories&hash=item3a7babadb9 Previously sold for $7.95 with free shipping. Sent them an offer. I'll give them a try.

    Night Photo Problems

There is a little foam ring that seals the lens from the IR. You didn't toss it out by chance, did you?
  16. I'm also getting around to changing out the stock lens. I finally received my DX package after a month. I have to say that the stock lens feels heavier and is made out of metal versus the DX plastic lens. I didn't like the dark corners that I get with the DX lens. I think I would be much happier with the lens that ssuro11 posted. I am feeling a little inclined though to try out the $14 megapixel lens that he talked about. I mean, it does say MEGA on the stock lens. Took some pictures for reference. This is the $2.70 DX lens. Stock 6.0mm lens on left. DX 3.8mm lens on right.
  17. I probably would have gotten at least a 1 amp power supply. Other than that, you should be good. Just be sure to test out the camera before you put it up. Have fun!
  18. Are you going to continue to use the additional illuminator? How does it look without it now that you the newer cameras?
  19. So what did you pay? Inquiring minds want to know.
  20. Nope, no tracking number. Hopefully I'll see my package soon...Now that the strike is over!
  21. Could you log in from one NVR to the other one if you have enough free channels for it to display them all together? Lets say I have an 8 ch nvr with 4 channels free and then I remotely add in the other 4 channels from the other nvr. Just pondering...
  22. I haven't tried it, so can't say for sure. The NVR is said to support IP cameras made by: Dahua, Arecont Vision, Axis, Canon, Dynacolor, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony and Onvif.
  23. That's partly what irks me too. Most people here are residential users, but want to spend a little more. But reading bits and pieces here and there, "$3,000 per camera is a good budget....Oh yeah, don't forget license and server costs" Really? "Honey, can I spend $20,000 on cameras for the house?" I'm glad to know that I'm not wasting my advertising time on here preaching to the little guys. UPDATE: Talked to my wife and I did get approval for the $20k! She just said that I'll have to receive it over a 20 yr span.
  24. Ohhh yeah, plus I'm in Los Angeles. Doh!
