HFW3200s work with the Swann (Hikvision) HD8-7250 NVR?
lowpro posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi Guys, I recently got rid of my Q-See system and picked up a Swann HD8-7250 nvr. It works great with it's own 3mp cameras. I have 2 Dahua HFW3200s camera left over from my other system. Has anybody been able to get the Dahua cameras to work on the hikvision nvr? I haven't been able to make it work. It's plugged directly into the nvr. I've tried the admin/admin combo and also tried to change the port to 9988. oh and ONVIF also. No go. With my Q-See system I was running camera over a wireless bridge. Since the camera was on the same network, the nvr was able to scan the network and it was really easy to add the camera. Before I returned the Q-See package, I was able to get a HFW2100 (wireless via bridge) to work with the Hikvision NVR. Once I saw that it was able to get video to the nvr, I packaged up the 2100 since I figured that the 3200s was going to work the same.... I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it will work at all. I'd love to hear what someone else did to get it to work. I don't want to be chasing my tail if it isn't going to work. Thanks! -
Issue with opening up rtsp stream via VLC - MRL Error
lowpro posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi Guys, I have a Swann NVR8-7250 NVR. AT&T blocks port 554, so I changed the RTSP port to 1085. Port 1085 is open on my router. This will be my first time messing around with VLC. I tried to access the rtsp stream (rtsp://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1085/Streaming/Channels/1). The login prompt pops up. It then takes a few seconds and I get this error. Your Input Can't be Opened VLC is unable to open the MRL "xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1085/Streaming/Channels/1" Check log for details. What does that mean? And how can I fix it? Thanks! -

Something like this? https://www.getkuna.com/ I've never used one, so I can't give you any feedback. My wife really liked the idea. I saw this video on my facebook feed back when it happened. https://www.facebook.com/getkuna/videos/vb.1530457887167386/1701715056708334/?type=2&theater

Hi Guys. I need some guidance. With so many dvr's out there, I'm confused as to what company to look at. I keep on reading about CNB, Avtech, Nuvico, Samsung, etc etc. Could you guys rank the above brands? I'm looking for a 8 channel stand alone dvr (for home) that will do h.264 and will support remote viewing via pc/iphone and hopefully a mac. Would $700 be enough to budget? I'm really wanting to get away from the current Q-See system that I'm using. I've already upgraded two cameras (out of 4) and it looks 10x better. Other brands that I should be looking at? Thanks for the help!

I've bought two systems from Costco. The first was a Q-See system that came with 2mp cameras. I used the system for about 1 year before it started having problems with the nvr. I spent 3 weeks going back and forth (emails) with Q-See tech support. After Q-See not figuring out what the problem was, Costco said to just bring the system back. I took back in the nvr with the 4 cameras, minus the cables. I was given a full refund no questions asked. I then turned around and bought a new Swann system that had the newer 3mp cameras. I'm glad that Costco was easy to deal with!

Don't feel bad. We've all been there. We all start out with something small and then expand or just start from scratch now that you've got your feet wet. Even by jumping up to 2MP will make a world of difference!

Issue with opening up rtsp stream via VLC - MRL Error

Hello and Welcome! Actually no, I never figured out the answer. So thanks for posting the answer now. It works! This whole time I had been using Safari. My upload speed at home is roughly about 3mbps, so I really only view one camera in main-stream mode before it starts to slow down and freeze up. That's great though, thanks! -
hello , cool story about 1st install and thank you !

Its outside on the roof top pointing down towards the road. There is a street light above the tree on the right. Could that cause problems with the IR? Nope, that wouldn't cause problems with the IR. Have you prayed with the camera settings? Try to default them to see if it changes anything.

Is it mounted on the outside of your house or are you shooting thru a window?

Thanks, Guys! I'll check it out!

What is something like this called? Where could you get something like this? I'm thinking of adding a camera for license plate recognition out along my front yard. Thinking of all the different options I would have.

How to go through the wall/window?
lowpro replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It's gonna be up to you. Do you want to make a bigger hole or a smaller hole? It's pretty easy to crimp on a connector. You're just going to have to practice a few times. Look at Monoprice.com for some tools, they aren't very expensive. Something new for you to learn. -

Can Swann (Costco Hikvision) NVR8-7200 run "real" Hik cams?
lowpro replied to Kawboy12R's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
On the Dahua cameras connected to the Swann nvr? No. I don't really need MD in those areas anyways. Plus I have connected 2 PIR motion detectors in the areas that I need true motion detection. I also record 24/7 -

I'm pretty sure that I've read that before. I have 2 dahua cameras connected to my Swann NVR. It's not plug and play but I was able to figure it out. So I don't see why not. -
I haven't tried it, but I think something like this could work. Only other suggestion that I would have is to make sure you get an active splitter for the 8 tv's. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=104&cp_id=10425&cs_id=1042501&p_id=8008&seq=1&format=2 http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011308&p_id=8160&seq=1&format=2 I'm sure others will chime in. Good Luck!

Problem with recent Q-See purchase
lowpro replied to 300winmag's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
In my case, I ordered them from the Costco website. I then called the store to let them know that I'd be bringing the package back in. I mostly called to make sure that it was going to be okay when I returned the cameras without the (4) 100ft of cat5e cable. I told the lady that the cable was routed through my attic and what was really worth the money was the cameras themselves, not the cabling. She then asked me to call up Costco's online customer service and to have them make a note about not being able to return the cabling. When I finally made it to the store, they ran my membership number and were able to see the note from the online customer service rep. No questions asked after that. -
Problem with recent Q-See purchase
lowpro replied to 300winmag's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I bought a 4 camera/nvr Q-see package from Costco. I started having issues with the NVR freezing up about 12 months after I purchased it. I troubleshooted with Q-See tech support for about 3 weeks before I threw in the towel. I called Costco and explained to them that it had been already 3 weeks of going back and forth. Costco just told me to bring it back, no questions asked. Sorta. Had to explain to them that I was not going to be returning all the cables that I had run. Other than that they didn't really care. Costco freakin' rocks! Took the money I had paid for the 720p cams and upgraded to 3mp cams. -

Hikvision recording to Dahua NVR and Vice Versa
lowpro replied to tangocharlie's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have 2 Dahua IP cameras recording to my Swann (hikvision) NVR. However, I have it set up to record 24/7, so I haven't messed with the motion detection settings much. But I'm almost certain that it doesn't work the same way a hikvision camera would work, if at all. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=38893
