  1. Why don't you just change the IP address of your computer to mach the camera subnet?
  2. For starters it won't go 360*
  3. Not what I would call a PTZ but whatever......
  4. Then 16 TB should give you a year of retention.
  5. What are the resolutions and frame rates of the 20 cameras?
  6. How much distance are we talking about? Camera to 5port =X then distance from 5port to 16 port = X
  7. What are the switches? If I'm understanding correctly the cameras connect to injectors then to a switch. (insert Model here) then that switch uplinks to another switch? (insert switch model here). That switch also has the QNAP NAS connected to it? Then that switch is uplinked to the router?
  8. Traffic doesn't have to be physically connected directly to the router to get managed by the router. Connect all devices to the switch and then patch the switch to the router. The way your currently setup all traffic has to flow through the router. That could be a bottle neck.
  9. Why is the cameras and the NAS conected to the router?
  10. One of my systems is still 5.2 SR4 and I connect with SR10 without issue. It's a MAJOR ISSUE to upgrade that system. 1500 Cameras, 45 servers, and about 40 clients.
  11. I believe you have to be Genetec Certified to call tech support. Which I am BTW.
  12. Bump it up to SR10 If you have a robust Video card 5.3 might be the way to go. 5.3 takes a significant load off the CPU and moves it over to the GPU.
  13. The reason I asked what version is because 5.2 SR4 thru SR6 were pretty problematic about eating memory and processor on the client.
  14. SR10 is the latest version of 5.2 5.3 is a whole new animal.
  15. What service pack of 5.2? 5.2 SR10 is the latest version.
  16. Your an IT Professional? Seems kind of strange you would ask this. If you were installing computers instead of IP cameras would you do this? I have done plenty of large plants. The server would install in the data center and connect to the local switch. Then there would be other switches out in the plant connected by fiber. Pull the camera to the nearest switch as long as it's within 100 meters.
  17. Image quality has nothing to do with Frame Rate. A Avigilon 29mp camera records at 3fps. Most 5mp cameras record at 12fps. Fluid motion of 30fps will not help one bit when it comes to quality still Images. How many images does a photographer grab with a SLR camera? 1
  18. Surveillance. There are 1500 cameras in this system. I did not buy a sony camera. Please explain.
  19. No these are at a University. Being recorded to a Dell Server using Genetec Security Center as the VMS. No reason for us to record at 30fps. It's a waste of bandwidth and storage just to get a smooth picture. 15fps is fine. Hanging from a traffic arm. Wide Angle 30X Zoom
  20. I'm really liking the New Axis Q6114 and Q6115 I have installed 4 so far.
  21. We have used these before and tapped the POS to Printer DB9 cable. https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Lantronix-2Port-RS232-422-485-Serial-to-IP-Ethernet-Device-Server-Intftl/1568876.aspx?RecommendedForEDC=1016878&RecoType=RP&cm_sp=Product-_-Session&ProgramIdentifier=3

    Multi Camera View issue

It's common for most VMSs' to use a secondary low resolution stream when the camera is in thumbnail view. Make one camera full screen and see if it goes away. That is normal to conserve bandwidth. Otherwise you would have all cameras streaming full res and making your computer down res it.
  23. We had some old GE IP domes that would do that. Oily film all over the inside of the dome. Never did figure it out. GE replaced HUNDREDS of them. One customer made GE buy all new Axis cameras and they did.
