Mike, I haven't had any luck getting Axis to authenticate with the ONVIF driver. -
Triggerd record on Avigilon with Axis cameras
ssmith10pn replied to VPSrider's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't have an Axis camera on my personal system at this time. But I just logged into a system that had an Axis P1204. I did find it odd the I/O for the Axis camera was not listed in the Digital Input list. That was a 4.12 system. -

You can tie the input into any camera. It doesn't have to be the same camera you want to record. We have emergency call boxes with alarm outputs. We tie those into the easiest camera to get to inside the building and then tell the PTZ outside to swing around to the call box when someone hits the button on the call box. In fact the Axis Q6042 PTZs do not have an alarm input so we either use another camera in the building or a Axis P8221 I/O Audio box. -

I don't have an Axis connected to my personal system right now but it would be the same. -

Very simple. Setup an alarm and choose your input source. Then create a rule of what you want the alarm to do. -

Good info Eric. -
I had no problems with the old Acti ACM-7411 cameras, but I haven't touched anything newer.

I really don't understand how we can be comparing Exacq to Avigilon? That like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia.

Avigilon license plate recognition

We did that with the 8MP Pro and the 70-200 Cannon Lens. Just the heat rise off the asphalt would screw up the image. -

Even this one is only 92 feet. http://us.boschsecurity.com/us_product/02_products_3/st_bu_f_277305_tams_catalog_prod_us/st_section_f_276651_tams_catalog_prod_us/st_prodfam_p_276651_tams_catalog_prod_us_277347 Looks like the easier solution is to figure out a way to shorten the distance to the target. -

Looks like Avigilon's solution is 100' Max. http://4a54f0271b66873b1ef4-ddc094ae70b29d259d46aa8a44a90623.r7.cf2.rackcdn.com/assets/Uploads/en_US/AVILicensePlateRecognition.pdf -
Avigilon license plate recognition
ssmith10pn replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I believe their LPR camera is cheaper than that and includes the IR. I need to read plates at 190 feet. The site currently has two Avigilon 5MP 9-22 mm and Alex suggested I test the current setup with a high power narrow beam IR. Will give that a try. I did a 180' shot with the 2mp box that comes with the 4.7-84.6 mm lens (2.0-H3-B1). It's spot on in the day time, but it's useless at night. -

Genetec Reliability
ssmith10pn replied to SS360's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Genetec is the better solution on large Enterprise systems. Genetec Certification is a Must. This gives you access to their private forums and a ton of Documentation. They support so many legacy cameras it's almost a break fix with every service release. SMA is required also. For a 250 camera system I would go with Avigilon if all the cameras were supported. For a 1000+ camera system Genetec is a no brainer. -
Lightning / surge issue

Another way would be to pull a Shielded OSP Cat5 and a #10 Solid ground through PVC conduit 1" or larger. Put these or similar at both ends GROUNDED. http://datainterfaces.com/sp-poe-01-Ethernet-RJ45-surge-protector.aspx?gclid=CMXriemHlsMCFVU8gQodzgoAew -
