What is our best option?ssmith10pn replied to mytheory.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions Hi, Thanks for your advice. I've reviewed Avigilon's site and they appear to offer a wide selection of hardware to suite our needs. However, there are no prices and I can't get a response via their contact form. How did you get your Avigilon setup? Is there a online store, or does it have to come from a distributor/sales rep? Thanks! Dealers only. Where are you located?

Axis P3364-LVE 6mm or 12mm cameras?ssmith10pn replied to mapdirection's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions Good information. I couldn't get my boss to understand that. He kept arguing with me that the 3364-LVE 6MM was a fixed lens.

Lowest Price 4K 30 fps surveillance camerasssmith10pn replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions First off, Trying to market a security camera as 4k is about as far as you can stretch marketing BS without flat out lying. Oh wait that is lying. So how would a camera with a spec of 4k resolution @ 6fps even be compared to 4k in the motion picture industry? "Oh hey there is a new movie out. Let's go watch it. It's in 4k resolution but since the equipment can't handle the data stream it's at 6fps" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution

Lowest Price 4K 30 fps surveillance camerasssmith10pn replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions I know some that can handle it. But they are 15,000 dollar work stations. http://kotaku.com/nvidia-debuts-the-gtx-titan-z-a-3-000-video-card-for-1551309130 http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2455405,00.asp

I would consider a shear lock. A 1200lb mag lock like the dortronics should work.

Can I control my Panasonic WV-NW964 (ptz) on a Hikvision NVRssmith10pn replied to Jibbeh's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions I would seriously doubt that Hik can control a Panasonic PTZ. As far as I know this camera does not have a RS-485 input and selectable protocols. IP only on this camera. I looked at a Genetec Security Center System I maintain and there wasn't much help there. We run a ton of the Panasonic WV-SW396 cameras.

Power over ethernet questionsssmith10pn replied to redsleeve's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions I work with the M5 Nano almost daily. Mostly shots of 300 meters or less. They have been pretty reliable. Occasionally one will mysteriously default itself. A firmware upgrade will remedy the problem. I wish they were IP66 rated though. I'm not crazy about the little trap door out in the elements. The biggest load I have put on a link was 2 Avigilon 5mp H264 cameras and 2 Avigilon 2mp H264 cameras. That was pushing it and I had to cut the frame rate back a good bit to not pixelate. I have also put an Axis Q6042 PTZ on one pole with a Nano station, shoot it to another pole with another Q6042, a pair of Nano stations, and a switch. And shot that back to a building. Works great and has been 100% up for a year and a half.

PIR's and Alarm Input Functionalityssmith10pn replied to SB_Jim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions I looked at your manual and it's clear as mud. I assume they are dry contacts. 1,2,3,4 are your alarm inputs and 5 is your common. Around page 25 it says you can configure those inputs to be either NO or NC. Your choice. As a test take a short piece of wire and terminate it to 1 and 5. Configure the input to be NC. The remove the wire and see if it goes into alarm.
