  1. Actually the maximum distance is 300 meters but I have cameras 450' POE in a parking deck and they work fine. They make extenders but they will blow your budget out of the water. My main concern would be lightening. It's going to get hit!
  2. That's where I misunderstood and suggested wireless. I was thinking the barn had power.
  3. My mistake. I thought you had local power and just needed network. What I linked to was a wireless bridge with a send antenna and a receive antenna.
  4. Just shoot it wireless. A pair of Nano station M5 and a poe injector at the camera http://www.ubnt.com/airmax#nanostationm
  5. In the IP world there is no text overlay like analog had. Most receipt printers still use RS232 (DB9) connections. You tap that port and use a serial server to send the data back to the video server via IP. Here are a few. http://www.bb-elec.com/Products/Ethernet-Serial-Servers-Gateways/Ethernet-Serial-Device-Servers/Vlinx-Family-of-Serial-Servers.aspx http://www.lantronix.com/device-networking/external-device-servers/securebox-sds2101.html
  6. So you didn't have a true man trap setup as the first door would have to be secure before the second door will open. You need a camera in the man trap area before you release the second door. Lets see One Thousand one, One thousand two. Yea that's a long time.
  7. I wish I could understand your "security" issues where 1 or even 2 seconds of latency would be an issue. Are your saying that 1 second of delay in response is unacceptable? Please explain to help me understand. I have been doing this for a long time but I'm still willing to learn something new.
  8. So 500 miliseconds to 1 second is really that big of a deal? Doesn't seem to be a problem in an ER full of thugs or a Court ordered patient holding cell.
  9. I still think 30fps would be more than fast enough. I video tape the launching or Drag Race cars suspension movements and 30fps is plenty. Nothing much changes until you get to 300 or 400FPS. At 30fps it takes 7 frames for the Amber Light on the Christmas tree to go from dim to Bright.
  10. That's cool. I just have never came across a situation and needed 60fps.

  13. Leave your resolution alone but cut back the frames per second. Your not making motion pictures. Anything over 2MP I run a 5 to 7 fps.
  14. I would lean towards the switch being the issue. Cut your frame rate back and see what happens.
  15. For starters this thread is in the ACCESS CONTROL section so it's getting little to no views.

    Leading NVR Brands

Every Exacq box I have ever touched was a Windows PC with Exacq's name on it. I wouldn't call it a NVR appliance. You could remove the software if you wanted and replace it with any software you choose to use. Same with Geovision.
  17. Think about it for a second. Your camera network has no DHCP server to hand out addresses so you have to configigute them to static. Keep it simple. Uncheck the IPv6 Configure your Server Camera NIC with the address of 192.168.5.20 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 No gateway needed. No DNS needed. Set your cameras with static numbers also. Make your first camera 192.168.5.100 and the next one .101 ect.
  18. SonnyD, Do you work for a security company or are you a do it your selfer? Plenty of training out there and if your doing it for a living it's required.
  19. Genetec has a cool feature called "trickling". In essence you set up a schedule for the video on the SD card to trickle to the NVR on off peak times.

  21. If your camera has a 1/3" sensor then it needs a lens the same size or bigger. 1/2" is bigger than 1/3" so your good.
