inputs / outputs - what are people using for IP systems?
ssmith10pn replied to Dirk_D's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Most IP cameras other than the bottom of the line have Inputs and outputs on them. -

Question about some Arecont 1305DN question
ssmith10pn posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have a hand full of these cameras set to static IPs with a 255.255.252.0 subnet mask. They will randomly change to 255.255.255.0 with IP locked box checked and applied. Any ideas? Of course I know when they do it because they go off line. -
Anyone using SSD's in their VMS Servers?
ssmith10pn replied to MR2's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry for the confusion. It's a EMC NS480 NAS but since we are using HBA cards it sees it as a SAN. I agree direct attached storage is the best. We do a lot of that too. -

What method are you transporting the data to the NAS? If your doing Ethernet that's your problem. We switched to HBA and all our troubles went away and been running for 2 years without a glitch. -

HD IP Camera Gigabit Switch - Wifi Router Slowdown Issue

Did teaming before. It's not nessessary and will cause more problems than its worth. You will hit software hardware limits before you get close to 1Gbt. -

Personally I would configure the ADSL modem in bridge mode so your internet didn't have to go through NAT twice. -

Avigilon 5 MP dome with IR
ssmith10pn replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If your wanting to use a 5mp camera I'm guessing your wanting to cover a large area. If that's the case I doubt the IR will cover the entire area. You will have to light it with auxiliary IR lighting. -
Aiphone and twisted cabling
ssmith10pn replied to michaeljc70's topic in General Access Control Discussion
That wiring got in there some how. Should be easy to replace because you have a pull wire. The ones I have installed we used the AiPhone supplied wire. It's a heavy gauge 2 conductor solid wire and then you can use anything for gate release. -
2.8 mm lens washed out colors
ssmith10pn replied to coolxal's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
let me try to explain how this works. 2 terms are commonly used when it comes to IR. IR corrected and IR cut. IR cut is a filter that drops in during day light to filter out light waves above the human eye spectrum. If it was in at night the camera would not see any IR light. This IR cut filter was necessary on Analog cameras but not as much on Mega Pixel cameras because it's like looking through a screen door on Mega Pixel Cameras. As far as I know IR cut filters are in the camera and not in the Lens. IR correction is a feature built into the lens to help minimize focus shift from day light to IR light. I do not believe your issue has anything to do with filters. -

Forward the cameras through the firewall just so you can get to them from the outside? Are you freakin kidding me? That is the dumbest idea I ever heard of. Stuff like that is what separates the trunk slammers from professionals.
