  1. I'm assuming you meant the "Enterprise" version? There wouldn't be any other licenses unless you wanted to do "Point of Sale", Audio, LPR, or a Mobile Device Gateway. Don't forget you only need 1 license for a 4 channel Avigilon Encoder or 360° camera.
  2. Ahh sounds like focus shift. Try focusing the camera in low light but with no IR.
  3. Maybe it's not a P frame on the playback?
  4. Not sure when you tested Avigilon but.....
  5. That's 8 min of my life wasted that I will never get back
  6. some of the responses on this forum make want to shake my head and just walk away. We need to split the forum into three sections. Professionals Trunk slammers do it your self let's just stack some 16 channel DVRs together and call it a day.
  7. Avigilon is a great choice. Easy to use and reliable software, relatively inexpensive cameras and very inexpensive encoders that will allow you to integrate your Analog cameras into the new system and slowly upgrade to IP Megapixel cameras. Their 2 MP H.264 Cameras (Fixed, Dome, or Bullet) will give you the full 30 FPS. Their H.264 video encoders support 4 cameras each and stream/record at 30 FPS per camera at full D1. Also their encoders are licensed per device, so you would only have to buy 1 license per encoder instead of 4. I would recommend the Enterprise version of their software giving you unlimited server connections, fail-safe recording, virtual matrix and collaborative investigations. In regards your server requirements it depends on how many cameras you will plan to deploy as well as fail-safe and storage requirements. With that being said their are literally thousands of choices in IP Cameras and software, everyone has their favorite so you really have to take a look at all your options, Milestone, Exacq, Genetec, etc. For cameras look at all the major brands Arecont Vision, Axis, Bosch, Sony, Samsung etc. Download and install demos if possible, do all your research into each camera and preferably start by purchasing only a couple of cameras and test them out alongside your current setup, no need to jump in head first. For $15,000 a month, you can get allot accomplished in just the first phase. If you need any MSRP pricing on Avigilon PM me i'll be happy to help. This^^^ But you do need to decide on software before considering cameras. I would lean towards Avigilon 1st and Genetec second. Once you learn Avigilon it's quite simple. Genetec is much more complex in the setup.
  8. Anyone used it? This is my first experience with it.

I have to ask the obvious here. WHY IS THE POWER BEING LOST? IF THE POWER IS BEING LOST MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR SOMEONE IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB!!

  14. Just like Wireguys said it's one license one camera. If you have 4 licenses and 4 cameras and you decide to change a camera no problem. Disconnect one camera and connect the other. No phone calls no nothing. The cool thing is if you use a Avigilon 4 channel encoder it only requires one license. In My opinion Avigilon cameras are significantly less expensive than Axis so I don't know why I would do a Avigilon/Axis combo unless I already had the cameras. There are 3 different levels of Avigilon Licensing. Core Standard Enterprise Here is the difference. http://avigilon.com/#/products/avigilon-control-center/editions/

    Avigilon vs Mirasys

Never heard of them but what do I know. http://www.mirasys.com/en/technology-partners
  17. And your surprised? It's Chinese junk what do you expect.
  18. On Avigilon Spec servers you have a recommended limit of 250mbps You can use that however you want. 19 Avigilon 5mp cameras in Jpeg 2000 @ 5ips is about 235mbps
  19. I am already planning on replacing the Vivotek with an Axis P3364-VE 6mm. What does the core license cost? Also, do they provide their own mobile app? Cost of a 4-channel license for Milestone is about $199 and supports connections from 5 simultaneous viewers. Each additional camera is $50 and it can go up to 26 cameras. Their mobile app is really really good and the mobile application is actually a pretty easy setup. I gave up on the install because I was having some problems getting a couple of their applications working on my network, but I might take another whack at it later today. I don't know the rules well enough to answer that. Contact Wireguys.

Can I convert this to digital?

The PTZ control is a RS-485/422 protocol. Need to know what the protocol is first. Pelco P Pelco D Tyco/AD Kaletel ASCII Kaletel Digiplex are just a few. Since the head end was already ripped out you may have to go to the camera and check dip switch settings. Most PTZs are capable of several protocols depending on dip switch settings. Not familiar with Panasonic. My experience is with GE Cyber Dome, Cyber Dome II, and Legend PTZs
  21. Ha! That's the glorified part! Try drilling a frame for a mag lock and the red hot chips falling on you and down your shirt. Pulling cable through the congested ceilings of a hospital is up there too. Or how about mounting cameras on a Stadium with a 125' Boom lift maxed out?
  22. Vivotec is not on the Avigilon supported list otherwise I would tell you to contact wireguys about an Avigilon Core license. Core is limited to 16 cameras but is very affordable. I run it at my house. Yes Avigilon upgrades are free unless they have a MAJOR upgrade like they are in early 2013. Worst case scenario it costs 1 license per server to upgrade. The Avigilon 5.0 upgrade will be like upgrading your Windows PC from XP to 7. That wouldn't be free from Microsoft either.
  23. Sounds like you have a good bit of hands on experience. The trend I see is most guys go to work for a integrator. Not a trunk slammer but a large company. Once they get the exposure and the experience they are hired away by one of the Integrators customers. Seen it happen in our company multiple times.
  24. I edited my post while you were typing. I'll do some more thinking on it.
