Career in Access Control Administration?
ssmith10pn replied to Ecote's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I work on a lot of large facilities. Hospitals with 300+ readers and 400+ cameras are managed by their Police Department or Security Department. Their "Locksmith" handles building the access levels and groups, HR handles Employee adds and suspensions, and the police department handles administration. We have a university that has 1000+ readers and their staff all work out of the Lock shop. Video is separate and handled by campus police. -
How can inject a cpu image to a analog camera for POS?
ssmith10pn replied to cavcom's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Same way. The box is just sniffing the data going to the printer and over laying it on the screen. RS232 data only needs 4 wires. -

Avigilon 5MP Dome vs AXIS P3367-VE
ssmith10pn replied to MagnumVP's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What is a dome simulator? Best, Christopher It's a clear plastic piece that clips over the lens to simulate the bubble Dome cover. They ship with the camera. Strangely the manual states different. I may have to try this method. -

Yes and if you don't use the Dome simulator when focusing it won't even be close when you install the dome. -

You will have to right click on these links and save as to get the full 7.4MB image. 250' to the fence with the 24-70 on 70. Previous distance calculation was incorrect. http://www.bumracing.com/Gallery3/var/albums/album01/Equipment%20yard-8mp-pro1.jpg?m=1348536643 http://www.bumracing.com/Gallery3/var/albums/album01/Equipment%20yard-8mp-pro2.jpg?m=1348536643 -

221' to target. Calculates out to 55ppf. @ 70mm Doesn't seem to be enough for consistent tag reading with such a long distance. -

We are going to have to change Lenses. what a shame... maybe you should send me that one, it would look pretty on my 40d. that's an l-series, too - canon's top line. Going to swap them out for 70-200s -

We are going to have to change Lenses. Our target distance was further than expected. 70mm is not enough zoom. We are trying to read tags from a long distance and normal pixel counts for tag reading go out the window due to air quality and heat rise. -

These are only 8mp I will have some night shots by tomorrow. I'm having a hard time getting them like I want because the way they are positioned the boom lift is in the way of the shot and I can't see the finished product until I move the lift out of the way. That is a Canon, 24-70mm, f/2.8, Auto-Iris, Vari Focal. Not recommended for low light. -

Thanks again for the info, we ended up going with avigilon, went with 50 megapixel cameras that came well under budget. i however will build the nvr (theirs were a bit to much money) and use their software, thanks again for you guys, i would of ended up buying a horrible system if it weren't for your comments Their servers are Dell Enterprise class servers. 4 Hour Dell support if you have a problem. Well worth it in a Production Environment. -

Reader Access Mode in LENEL
ssmith10pn replied to tiuhenrick's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Yea so am I. We had about 30 readers wired up and couldn't get them to work. After about 2 days back and forth with Lenel they set it up and their lab. That's when they told us the reader wasn't compatible with that board. -

Reader Access Mode in LENEL
ssmith10pn replied to tiuhenrick's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Actually...if your go to start then programs on the server or workstation. look for OnGuard(yearversion) and click on that and look for Documentation folder...in there is manuals for everything from hardware to software to crystal reports ... You sound like you work for them. The server wasn't installed yet! You let me know when you find the documentation to marry a LNL-XF1100D reader to a NGP-1320u board. -
Reader Access Mode in LENEL
ssmith10pn replied to tiuhenrick's topic in General Access Control Discussion
We had hardware questions on the front end before the server was even installed and they wouldn't help us because we didn't have a dongle ID! They finally helped us and were smart asses about it. We were trying to wire the 1100 readers to NGP 1320 boards. He said "Pull up the manual on your server and it's there" We no it wasn't. After all was said and done the 1100 wasn't even compatible with the 1320 NGP board. Been nice to know that up front. -

The Mier BW-136ACHT is about 2400.00 wholesale. We have put plenty of them in gated communities and they work well. I have seen competitors be as high as 8k. -
