GV-NVR (LPR) or GV-LPR madness and fruit loops!
ssmith10pn replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes if you are using GV Ipcameras on a GV DVR and or NVR solution the license is free. Basically it allows you to add the camera because it is a GV camera. If it's a non GV IP camera it requires a license be purchased. We found it cheaper to buy non Geo cameras and buy the Geo IP license. -
Exacq loosing connection to camera

It seems like the common Denominator here is Arecont. I had an Arecont camera do the same thing with an Avigilon server. About every 2 weeks it would just disconnect. If I remember correctly you could still get to it through the web interface. Reboot the camera and all would be well for another 1 -2 weeks. Arecont RMA'ed the camera and problem solved. And it was a 1355 -
Haha Those DVRs are at the End Of Life now.

7 5mp 2mp 2mp 4 analog on encoder -
I am assuming you want to convert an IP camera to analog? Some of those models have some type of analog output.

I didn't know Avigilon was considered a "Closed" system considering it started life without it's own Native cameras and still supports hundreds of third party cameras. But with the pricing structure of their cameras and encoders there really isn't a reason to look at other cameras. Their 5mp camera is competitive in price with other 1 to 1.3mp cameras. Their 4 channel encoder only requires 1 license and the price of the encoder is less than other single channel encoders. As far as their VMS, I look at it like comparing a Iphone to an Android phone. The Iphone may not do every single thing a Android phone can but it has no bugs and a cave man can operate it. Just my humble opinion.

Last time we did some we used these in Stainless up in the corner http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/492383-REG/Videolarm_WS6S_50NF_WS6S_50NF_Warrior_Six_Vandal_Resistant.html Then we got with the elevator people and used spare conductors in the travelers for Baluns and power then converted to coax in the machine room. I'll grab some stills and post them.

H.264 I assume?

looks pretty good to me for such a wide shot.

I'm watching the demo video. Seems quite "Overwhelming"

Note that I said "Basic" also. Home server and Small Business Server are not even considered real server platforms. So as I said 2008 is the current version. I don't have a dog in this fight but you were criticizing ONSSI for not supporting any server version newer than 08 when that is in fact the current version.

Oh and a CD or DVD can't be tampered with. Gotcha.
-
Also, what type of "Incident" wouldn't fit on a DVD or thumb drive? I have one customer considering doing all of their incident recordings on SD cards. They are getting cheap and will fit in a paper file nicely.

I'm just curious what type of environment requires over a year of storage. Not to mention once it's archived to tape it has to be a real pain to retrieve.

THHN wire and RG6 cable in a single conduit...

Absolutely not! -
if you buy the update via dongle then you can ... but if you have a counterfiet then you have no chance. i dont have any dongles are they needed? i dont have a counterfeit card, its real and verified from geovison. what does the dongle do? The Dongle is for IP licenses and Control Center Licenses.

Should I upgrade our system and what to?
ssmith10pn replied to jlk's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I was thinking Aver Software will load on a Windows PC correct? Since your all IP now just go to a regular Windows platform and shelf the DVR after repair. -

Anyone done one yet? I have three cafeteria registers coming up in the next month or so and was just curious.

How long are you keeping video?

Wow, The Data center for the DOD finance department scrapped their tape silo's about 3 years ago.

Nothing more sacred than medical records and they don't back those up to tape.

*^%$ that! Buy a real storage solution and you wont have a problem. Like these:
