  1. The little system I am responsible for.
  2. Get off 5.1 ASAP. It was terrible! 5.4 much better!
  3. Take a look at the new Axis M series cameras. They are less expensive option than their P series cameras.
  4. Axis analog camera? Never seen one. Please post a picture if you can.
  5. The spec is actually 100 meters including the patch cords. That simply means that it is guaranteed to work that distance. The doesn't say it wont work longer distances. I have gone 1000' with a Veracity POE extender.
  6. Yes that was POE with a 5mp camera.
  7. I have gone 460' on Cat6 23ga before. In fact it's been running for close to 5 years.
  8. so 270ft cat5e 24awg should be no oroblem right? im going to the site tomorrow its most likely that wiring order If it is 100 meters or less you should have no problems.
  9. been 470' with POE without issue. But I was using 23ga cat6 Been over 1000' with these: http://veracityglobal.com/products/ethernet-and-poe-devices/longspan.aspx
  10. Several installers are complaining of getting error messages when trying to connect Axis M Series cameras to Avigilon Servers. ACC 5.8.4.16 had this in the release notes: Resolves an issue where ACC reports Axis cameras with firmware above 6.0 are incompatible with the ACC server. One installer was still unable to connect Axis M3XXX-V series but the Axis M3xxx-VE connected fine. Just wondering what your experiences have been.
  11. I'll call you this morning.

    Axis 4K camera problem?

What are the specs on the switch and the laptop? I suspect that's where the issue is.
  13. Are they mostly still selling the capture cards for people with the older analog systems? I converted all my cameras to IP a while back but I am curious what the going rate is for the Geovision upgrade from GV-NVR to GV-VMS for 3rd party cameras. I haven't messed with GV in years. The way they did it back then is the license would be on a USB dongle. I think it was 100.00 for an 8 channel license. That's just a guess really. It's been 7 years.
  14. If by chance you did one end 568B and the other end 568A the mackbook pro would still work but the camera would not. Just a thought.
  15. I doubt there are very many cameras out in the wild. But just in case...

  17. I have some GV capture cards if you want them. PM me and I'll get you the models.
  18. That looks more like a compression thing. I would make sure the camera and NVR are up to date on firmware.
  19. I believe your correct. Pretty sweet if it's reliable.

    IP address clashes

I have noticed on a lot of cameras you have to add the IP address to "Compatibuility View" in IE.
  21. I went to The Wire Guys link and noticed the camera placement on the turn stiles.
  22. Notice that all the samples have straight on eye level shots. So you have to create choke points for all pedestrian traffic to pass through and get high resolution shots of 100ppf or more. Plus lighting has to be perfect. I have a customer covering 3 turn stiles with a 10mp camera. That's 3,648 pixels on 12'. That's 304ppf and you can't make out the first face because there isn't enough light. Light is very important.
