  1. I am really glad you got it working. However, I now wish I had responded to your post on another well known forum where you posed the same question. This tomcctv guy showed a complete lack of sense with his absolutely childish post. Clearly not technical person. Based on this I will be deleting my account from this forum shortly, if this is the calibre of administrator/integrator, then I would rather not be a part. Thanks.
  2. Oh, and I get a live view too. Not an image.
  3. Not sure I agree with you their pal. Yes, I have it fully working - and through the Meye app too! So, it is a bit of a rude remark to make to me - considering I have spent a fair amount of time helping the op; dont you think? It will not work off the Web Port (this will only take requests from I.E with the activex). If you want to use it via a smartphone app - then you need to open the Mobile 3g port as defined in the DVR setup.
  4. I think that is your problem. Take out the http:// bit. Just have: dyndns.org in the address bit Is there a section for port separately? If so, then put the port in there. Also, it would not be the 8082 port - as that was your Web Port if I remember. It needs to be the Mobile 3G port. Where the default is 100. I take you did port forward this one too right?
  5. Try again once you have setup your numerical password. How are you entering the Address section. i.e are you doing http://
  6. I would set a numerical one - thats what I have done. A little security is better than none at all.
  7. So, is it not working after you changed the password? Try changing it again - directly on the box - and do a reboot - just in case.
  8. Meye should do the trick. Did you open that 3rd port I mentioned (mobile 3g port - default at port 100)? Server info: Address: Your Dyndns name Port: 100 (if you left it at default) Userid and Password - whatever you set on the DVR. Im on an Android phone and using Meye. If the same app exists for Iphone - then it should be fine.
  9. Ok. So now we need to do the port forwarding on your router. I take it you know how to log into this ok? Judging by previous comments - looks like you do. I had to find some generic instructions for the Bt homehub as I am on SKY. Though I used to have the homehub - so hopefully the below should be pretty close. Click Settings at the top. Then go into Advanced Settings. Then you should see a link for 'Application Sharing' Then click on 'Supported Applications'. There may or may not be a list of already setup game/application. We want to click on: 'Add new game or application'. So, we are going to open 2 ports (One for Media - we chose 8081 in the DVR; unless you went for something else, we chose 8082 for the Web port; unless you chose something else). Then we can open a further port - if you intend to being able to watch the cameras on your mobile device (smartphone, etc...) So, lets port forward these 2 (or 3 ports now). Back to the router config: Game or Application Name: DVR_Media Copy an existing game/application: No Protocol: TCP/UDP; Port Range: 8081 (in both boxes). Translate to: 8081 (in both boxes). We are going to do the same as above (Add new game/application) for the other ports. 2. DVR_Web. Port Range: 8082 Translate to: 8082 3. DVR_3G. Port Range: 100 Translate to: 100 I chose 100 for the 3rd Port above (as this is the default on the DVR for 3g Mobile). Once you have added your ports - hit 'Apply' Next click on 'Configuration' near the top. (still within 'Application Sharing') The 'Device' box (I believe) should list your DVR in the drop-down. Select the application you created using the Game or application drop down box (We added 3: DVR_Media, DVR_Web and DVR_3G). Then click Add to enable it. So, we will do this for each of the 3 we created above. Then click Apply. Thats it. You should then be able to connect to your DVR from a remote location. i.e. Open Internet Explorer : Enter your dyndns address with a colon and the DVR_Web Port Number. i.e.: http://:8082 If you created a User or Admin Password in the DVR; then enter this in the Password box and continue to log in. Let me know how it goes and whether any tweaking is required.
  10. Excellent. The 192 address is your internal address. The 86. one is your external ip address, I.e the one handed out by bt. Ok, next step is to set up your port forwarding on the router. Will try and do this when I get home later on this evening.
  11. Ok - lets start with the DVR. 1. I take it your mouse is plugged in to the DVR. 2. Right-click mouse 3. select main menu 4. Choose advance 5. Choose network 6. Type: Static 7. Media Port: 8081 (You can choose a different port if you want) 8. Web Port: 8082 (As above) 9. A unique IP Address on your network. Lets do this: A. On your PC: Start -> run -> cmd -> Hit Enter. In the DOS box; type: ipconfig You will see a line that says: IP Address. I am guessing it will start: 192.168.0. or: 192.168.1. So back to the DVR: In the IP Address: Enter the first 3 numbers (separated by dots) that came up on your PC; i.e, 192.168.0. For the lets choose 20 So the complete IP Address would be 192.168.0.20 I am assuming here that you dont have more than 20 internet enabled devices on your network. I just tried to choose something quite high) - but you can go up to 255. 10. Subnet Mask: Again - you can get this from the DOS window that you typed on your PC. There will be a line that says: Subnet Mask; it will be something like: 255.255.255.0 11. Next one is Gateway: Again this will be in the DOS window on your PC: Called: Default Gateway. it will be somthing like 192.168.0.1 12. Enter the same setting as point 11. for DNS 13. Hit apply and ok. Thats the main part of the DVR. Let me know when that part is done - or you need more help.
  12. Hi Laura, I can get you most of the way there - i.e. setup port forwarding etc.. The only issue I have is remote viewing - but I believe I have everything setup. Let me check the BT Home Hub settings - then will tell you what to do. Give me 20 minutes to check.
  13. ive got a ddns account - so IP address changing is not an issue.
  14. Ok - I am using a Windows 7 PC at the moment - and the login prompt is greyed out and the cameras are greyed out - as I mentioned. I just fired up a Windows XP machine - and even though the login prompt is greyed out - the cameras are showing ok. So the greyed out cameras is simply a OS specific issue. Any ideas on my LAN -> Login OK WAN - Login Failed. THanks Nav
  15. Ok - it is the Netgear one. I just tried the following on the DVR - ticked the box for 'Network PW Clean'. It is slightly worse now - in that connecting via the LAN. The password box is greyed out, but still allows me to log in. But when I do - the cameras are greyed out. I have rebooted the DVR twice - and this made no difference. Any advice?
  16. I am with SKY. The router is either Netgear or Sagem - it is the standard black one they distribute. I can check tonight. I can login to the Web Admin site on my Lan and see the cameras. Remotely however, even though I can get to the site - download the ActiveX control - when trying to enter my Admin or User password - I just get `Login failed` Thanks Nav EDIT: The cameras are greyed out on my Windows 7 PC - but on Windows XP it is fine. But; the password prompt when logging in is still greyed out. How do I get this to become active again? As the passwords are still showing (as asterixes) in the config sceens. Still have the problem of not being able to login via WAN though....
  17. Hi, Also just purchased the same kit and am in the processing of setting up. Did you get sorted in the end? Are you able to view your cameras remotely via Internet Explorer? Thanks Nav
