  1. I bought the 4 camera version of Pico2000 3.0 ORS at duncansonline. They get it from centerlink-international. It installed nice and registered using the unlocking key. However, my PC crashed twice, not because of Pico I think. Anyway, the problem I am pursuing here is that it demands the registration key after such a crash, as opposite to normal termination of the Pico software. And of course then I get: The license key has already been registered. Please obtain a new license key for this installation. They have already reset the key once, but I am not sure they will do it twice. Anyway, it is not a solution. My system is Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks?
  2. Thanks for the tweaks. I implemented those and entered the reset registration key again exited Pico2000 and started it again to see that I was not prompted for the registration key again. I was not. So then I shutdown my PC, started it again and started Pico2000. And guess what. I have to enter as new registration key. So it has nothing to do with a PC crash, any PC shutdown, normal or crash, and I have to enter a new registration key when I start Pico2000. Then I think we all can agree that this is a bug? You have to buy the product each time you restart your PC?
  3. Finally, thanks. This is exactly the kind of tweak I am looking for. This need for reregistration is a bug that does not affect every PC out there. Otherwise the developers would have been very aware of this and fixed it. It is something special with my installation that they do not care to bother about for a sale of 40 US dollars. However, in Windows Update I have: Download updates but let me choose whether to install them. This is what you are thinking about with your auto update not switched on?
  4. There are a lot of licenses schemes like by the year. What other companies require a new license after a crash?
  5. You are excused. Last try, my questions are: Is this a bug or a feature? If it is a feature, do you know any other product that require you to buy a new registration key after a PC crash? If it is a bug, could you think about any way to circumvent it?
  6. HD image and UPS? No, is this behavior a bug or a feature? To me it is a bug. I am a developer, have programmed for 40 years, mostly in assembly. I have never come across any program that need you to buy a new license if/when your machine crash. Have you? I asked for a statement about this from the lead Pico2000 programmer, but have not received any. If this is intentional behavior then vendors could use it as a business opportunity, let the system crash after a few months without any trace back to my product, and then we can sell the product twice, etc. to the same customer? But I do not think it is a feature. It must be a bug, affecting a few intallations, like mine, Vista. So the only thing I am prepared to do besides just scrapping the whole thing is to look for anything that is special for my PC crashes that may avoid this reregistering. But what could that be?
  7. Using UCC4 type capture cards with CONEXANT Fusion bt878a capture chip, what alternatives do I have, other software than Pico2000 3.0 ORS? Any recommendations (that do not require registering again after a PC crash)?
  8. How should the hardware IDs or system change because of a PC crash? The first crash I know was because a power surge, a blink in the light. We have heavy snow falls making power supply unstable because of trees bending over power lines. This cannot be a valid reason for their disclaimer. My PC setup is completely finalized before registering the software. Actually I have been offered another reset, but that cannot be a solution. PC's happen to crash. I have never heard about any other software that needs a new registration after PC crash. And I just love the program, just what I need. I could pay many times more to just get it working every time I (re)start my PC.
