Where did you learn your English ?
  2. what in your opinion constitutes misuse of CCTV? I think the number one issue in my experience is attempt to entrap offenders in the act, where no attempt is made to deter them from criminal behavior. Another might be covert cameras for the purposes of voyeurism. I think we can all imagine that one without having to specifically spell it out. Any thoughts?
  3. I know you aren't trying to get someone to steal and "I didn't see the camera Me Lud" is no defense but frankly unless you make an effort to deter the potential thief it could be said to be a trap set to entice any would be thief for the purpose of making and example of them. There is a good reason that many jurisdiction demand businesses display warning signs, and that is to protect the innocent businessman who id protecting his/her goods and not for the sake of human rights. The law recognizes that a lawyer's first duty is to use any legal means to defend their client, NOT to see justice done, that is the duty of the prosecutor and the system itself. (judge and Jury) IF a defense lawyer can cast doubt into the mind or the J&J then they must give that doubt to the accused and if it can be suggested that entrapment is a possibility the defendant could get off on a mere suggestion of entrapment. The law does not want that to happen. They want to allow CCTV evidence in court but unfortunately even crims have rights too. Its absolutely necessary in our society to ensure that so far as is possible justice is served and miscarriage of justice is avoided. I heard it said better to have ten criminals get off on a technicality rather than wrongly convict one innocent man. I think they call these checks and balances. And it's not what you consider to be entrapment that counts it's the proof that there was no entrapment that will count. I doubt they would bring charges for entrapment charges except in very unusual circunstances anyway but the suggestion that cannot be refuted absolutely is a doubt and thats all it takes. Not perfect I grant you that but it's as close as it's possible to get.
  4. I think he's referring to a different type of bird house than you are thinking of....? If you've got the time and the ingenuity then why not. I'd still put up signs to advise people they need to behave properly but there's no requirement that they actually see the camera. If they realize it's a bees nest I can't tell but if they do they are unlikely to mess with it don't you think? It's a question of finding a host and then a camera to conceal within it.

Tips for mounting cameras behind glass?

I have to double agree with this. By mounting it indoors in a dormer, you will effectively cut down the range of view the camera has, you could probably cover all that with two mini zoom cameras. The best place to install a PTZ on a building is on an outside corner where its range is about 270 degrees in the horizontal plane. Putting inside like you want will reduce that range to less than 180degrees and probably ruin the view from that dormer completely and for what? It'll be rubbish I promise you. IF A CLIENT OF MINE WANTED ME TO DO THAT I'D DEMAND THEY SIGN A DISCLAIMER FIRST. and all this is quite apart from the IR isue which you cannot cheat physics. Glass will reflect the IR back and you will need some space to allow a PTZ to move otherwise whats the point of having one, you can't outsmart science and the further away from the glass the more IR light will be reflected direct into the lens

Tell us something about your work background skills etc, what country you are in and so on. You are welcome here, hope you learn plenty. Some of us statred as a curious member here and ended up making CCTV their profession. You NEVER know!
  7. I heard of a guy that hid a lipstick style bullet camera in one of those bees nests that people can put in their garden which surprised me but these do exist and looking at it I can see it working reasonably well

    WD HD for Surveillance system

Sorry to hear you have a problem... BUT 'WHO' TOLD YOU TO FORMAT IT WITH NTFS? Actually the WD Purple is the one you should have purchased as it is designed for security (CCTV) installations. That doesn't mean that the blue won't work but why did you format it before putting it in the DVR? The DVR is perfectly capable of formatting the drive and will usually format an unformatted drive immediately it boots. Most instruction manuals cover the subject of installing the HDD. I would recommend that you remove the drive, reformat it to a basic DOS format (sorry not sure of the correct name) and then try it in your DVR again. Use the wizard to detect it and then format it. With any luck, it should format correctly this time.

    Aussie Here

Ah well, someone has to be Australian don't they? Well what on earth possessed Australia to use 240V ac could it have been a legacy from the British? We are still managing very nicely with 240v AC Actually there are several Australian members on here too, so you are in good company. Most members opt for 12V DC or 24V AC reduced from the mains by regulated transformers. Probably because most of us aren't qualified electricians but capable with low voltage where the implications of working with low voltage aren't as potentially dangerous as with mains and at no cost to the final result. From your description of your level of skill, I don't think you'll have too much difficulty getting advice you can follow easily.

    VGA splitter or Amplifier?

its a question of 'suck it and see' but usually a VGA splitter can amplify up to 60 M. The manufacturer often says so on the box too, these can be had very cheaply in the UK, whereas the type amplifier you are talking about that has a sender and reciever can send the signal considerably further but the cost id again significantly more. Having said that, I have had more success with the latter type being far more predictable and reliable. It may be case of you get what you pay for. I bought some cheap Chinese ones on ebay and they all ended up in a skip as they didn't even work to 10m. The ones I buy in the UK ynamode: work very nicely but are more expensive as you might expect.

    DVR & NVR Mobile Apps

Either you have huge phone or very good eyesight 16 cameras displayed on a mobile phone will be smaller than postage stamps. Perhaps it's time to get a iPad or Tablet?
  14. What about 1-9 that seems logical. Make a layout print map and impose the views to have near the DVR or NVR so you can relate it to the camera view. I have a problem deciding what color to paint my fence, now thats a real problem.
  15. If only there was a brand named 'El Cheapo'

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

Yeah I know there is a sort of sick apathy towards CCTV at some locations, I too hav seen cameras mounted on top of dead units, the principal being that the site operator didn't want to pay a fee for removing the old dead unit IF IT AINT EARNING US MONEY WHY SHOULD WE SPEND MONeY REMOVING IT is the logic.
  18. Are you fond od viewing the top of people's heads? The cameras can afford to go a little lower unless you live in a single storey property. Connection the DVR to the router can be achieved either by running a cat5 and terminating it in-situ or by using a homeplug if your DVR and router use the same consumer unit. This is very reliable but to answer your question you can find an adapter to connect the DVR to the router via 802.11x but unfortunately you will have toi identify an adapter that is compatible You can also run both power and signal on a single cat5 if you want to

Help me i'm forget my CY-H6132 32ch HVR password

Actually just a thought but many DVRs have password recovery utility on the main disk, it's worth taking a look. I can't promise that there will be but HVR manufacturers in China sometimes provide this with large capacity equipment.
