Help me help a friend !! IP bundle costs.
Numb-nuts replied to iantech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I think your expectation outstrip your budget completely. Oh sure you'll get a system that is useful and will be better than nothing, but ONLY JUST. The best you can hope for with a kit is a COMPROMISE... You are demanding spcific requirements and that my friend costs money and takes experience. So what your friend is basically saying id=s I want you to advise me but I am not prepared to pay for your advice. good hunting. Your first reaction was correct, find a local professional tell him exactly what is required and agree a budget to include the installation and setup of the CCTV. Even if you can't, I can see where your friend is going here first you'll end up advising then you'll wind up being on 24 hour call out when he needs help. If you advise and it all goes tits up who's going to get the blame? DEAD RIGHT, IT'S YOU GIve him your original advice and the url of the forum let HIM be responsible and do the legwork..... Do you now see why your original response was the correct one? walk away from it. -
Your first port of call needs to be your original equipment supplier. However if they aren't interested, as so many of these box movers aren'r (a quick profit and to hell with aftercare) you're basically stuffed. Using the start date and serial number they will have to generate a code at the factory for you to enter into the password field which will then let you in and you should then set the password. This time write it done and place it in an envelope and retain in with your special documents like passports, birth certificates etc.

looking for low lux (0.0001) analog camera with WDR
Numb-nuts replied to akv's topic in Security Cameras
These will be expensive and ebven more so if you make your own housing (oh boy) Start saving your money and don't risk destroying good cameras just to save a dew $$$ on the housing. -
why dvr camera skips time intervals when recording
Numb-nuts replied to dksellou's topic in Security Cameras
is this an IP system or does it have a DVR? The brand and model would be helpful in getting an answer.... Unless that is, there are some psychic members looking in, in which case could you put me in touch with the guy that ran off owing me money? -
Read the manual or ask the ebay seller.... I suspect you are clicking on 'Burn' instead of 'back up'

Am I bloody invisible?

I think you mean Client software. It wouldn't hurt to tell us what DVR manufacturer and what model. There are loads of CMS applications. Client software for a Mac is a big ask but it's just possible that there is something out there but you can use paralells or similar to run Windows applications. I have done this very successfully on my MacPro without having to upgrade everytime thre is a new release DVR maker and Model please........

The MEyetch apps are all very worthwhile looking at. MEte, VMEyye VMEye Pro HD. I ahve several QVIS dvrs which are Dahua originated and these all seem to work well Find one of them in the app store or Google play and then select other apps by this publisher to view whats availavle The publisher is Sun Juan.

What is he saying chaps? Is he anti horse or what? Look chaps a talking horse, whatever next?

For readers of these posts, some QVIS DVRs are Dahua, "BUT NOT ALL OF THEM ARE" the clue is if they use PSS remote client, they are definitely Dahua. I am not so sure about their cameras but fortunately they work well and cover the entire range to suit all but the most mean and tight-fisted. (No disrespect to those that simply can't afford). .................................... Mr "I never buy anything at the full price" ....................................... and his pal Mr did you say you have a problem with your DVR? The problem with QVIS is that they sell to any twit that knows nothing about CCTV and some of the most recent sellers aren't in business to offer a service they just want to rape the inndustry. Problem is QVIS won't help end users unless they come through the original seller. I have seen lots of 'in warranty' QVIS equipment that needed return under warranty and the seller wasn't interested. I tried getting QVIS to take them back through me as I have a AData account there but they refuse so if your seller is one of those box sellers you're literally STUFFED and your warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. THIS IS MY ONLY CONCERN ABOUT QVIS Adata.

Who's a clever boy then...? First stage is going back where you bought it and asking them to do it. I know of at least three people that have screwed their DVR by following the instructions of (lets be king and call them) misguided members who thought they'd have a joke at someone else's expense Very funny guys, you should know better

Yes if you want it to work well DON'T buy cheap! You get what you pay for and cheap just doesn't cut it in CCTV. Only 'disappointment' is cheap.

With respect, in order to catch em as you put it, you will have to allow something to happen again. It could be argued in court that "you set a trap which is entrapment" and that the cameras were NOT there to deter anyone. Prevention is far more desirable than revenge. While domestic properties are not obliged to display CCTV Warning signs, it is always best to follow the legislation that is incumbent on commercial users, that way you avoid legal difficulties as much as its possible to. Warning signs simply focus the miscreant's attention where pickings are easier and less risky. . Well that's my view.

Look don't messs around with the routers or any port forwarding, simply advise the network manage what you require and what ports need opening and let them do the work because if you mess yjings up NOBODY is going to thank you and your attempt to do a good job will fall foul of a broken network. NO CCTV business as usual, no network, no business.

Today I nearly tore my remaining hair out at the roots. It was the very first attempt at an EE brightbox router with a fiber connection. Port checking tools reported the port as open and then not and then some open and some not. Being my first attempt I read the EE brightbox port forwarding guide and it all made sense to me, so I followed their recommended procedure exactly Did it work? Not abit of it.... Finally after fartars*ng around all day I realized that it would not allow a computer logging into the router to return through the router. So effectively I required a LOCAL settings for the remote client software using the local IP of my DVR and a second set of settings (for remote use) from outside of the LAN and using my DDNS Hostname. I don't think I have experienced this before so I thought I'd report it in case anyone else is confused about whats happening. Does anyone know if there is a setting that should be changed to allow remote access when logged into the same network? I couldn't see anything obvious...
-
Make sure your DHCP is NOT selected if it is then deselect it and restart both the router and the DVR then try finding it. You could try reserving the device identifier to quite a high value like 200 so there are no IP conflicts and reserve it in your router if it supports reserved IP. It may be an obvious question and the answer is hopefully you have remembered to connect your DVR to the router with a cat5 patch cable? I have been out and found people saying their DVR wasn't working and all I had to do was plug it into the mains aquick and easily earnt £75.00 thank you very much.

BIzarre trouble.....need help!
Numb-nuts replied to thecatisgone's topic in General Digital Discussion
Sounds like a plan. Are all your cameras on a single power supply and when you use the test monitor, are you using the cameras power supply or a separate one? The progressive nature of the GL as you describ it gives the me feeling that perhaps your Power supply could be at fault, however if you are using the same power supply on your test monitor and the picture is good, have you waiten a period of time to see what happens to the test monitor. If all your cameras are reading 1vP-P at the receiver end (DVR) then probably there is an issue with your DVR but doesn't sound like it YET I would look into the power supply as a 'good suspect' as they say on CSI Eliminate that suspect first. The clue is that the GLI had no effect... good hunting -
Any ideas whats going on with 2 out of my 3 cameras?

Whats the effect if you swap the cameras around are they the same on any channel? -
Security cam suddenly blue screen and /or out of range
Numb-nuts replied to akikogerm's topic in Security Cameras
Frankly you might be better off simply buying pal equipment. The convertor has a lot of work to do when a new DVR ([erhaps new cameras depending on model) aren't really that expensive and you wouldn't have this issue to resolve which frankly is a non starter and really more complicated than it needs to be. ve have vays of making it vork... hope you get it sorted... -
Welcome Neighbour!

The choice is entirely yours' whatever suits your requirements best and satisfies your needs. There are so m,any good quality cameras out there now. Personally a couple of brands I like are Concept Pro, Night Devil, Pecan, Samsung, Pelco, Honeywell and of course Vista not in any particular order. The problem you might find is persuading someone to retail these to you because they are mostly brands used by professionals and aren't retail competitive ( i.e.CHEAP) where the only feature that really counts is price( more fool those that are taken in). You might get QVIS cameras which are great value, and will sell to anything that walks they are not fussy who they sell to. Thats the problem you might have after sales from a seller that knows naff all about CCTV but will buy quantity ans the last thing you want is nil after sales support right? Good news is that these are ultra reliable anyway.

RG-59 Siamese Quality Issues
Numb-nuts replied to glasssplinter's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
While I am NOT a great fan of cat 5/6 & baluns, the scenario of 4 cameras to a detached garage is THE perfect situation for their use. Use the 4 way baluns shown by numbnuts and power the cameras from within the garage. CORRECTAMUNDO -
With a little inventiveness you can hide the cables inside the property, but remember doing that may make future servicing difficult. Dome cameras often allow the use of direct connection to conduit 3/4 in and 1 inch (20mm and 25mm). Personally I always use PVC conduit and have never yet suffered an attack, but you need to try and keep it out of reach if possible (not always possible) Using metal conduit with UTP is not a problem over short lengths but it has the potential to screw up your signal. If you must use metal conduit, choose coax cable to carry the signal. Metal conduit id much harder work than PVC and anpther reason I don't use it it requires expensive bending equipment and a whole ne skillset (Which honestly, I don't posses ) I have never heard of anti vandal cable supplied on a camera, but I would take the claim with a pinch of salt until it has proven itself. Dome cameras might be the obvious choice in this case then since you can hide all cables and the good quality domes have an access port within their husing for setting up the camera and its focus. NO junction box required Below a diagram of the Night Devil CAM 220 which is fairly typical. Note the conduit threaded hole at the bottom of the picture. ALWATS have this at the bottom, they can leak at the top.
